Composite ski construction comprises a light alloy metal profile surrounded by spacer blocks of wood, hollow box structures or (foamed) plastic and encased in a thermosetting resin skin (polyester or epoxy resin based), with boot clamps; sole strips etc. The ski sole is concave. More reproducible than timber, easily adapted to optimise the size, weight, balance and stiffness.
