Abstract
Press connection of a connecting socket 1 in a fitting 1 or in a cast-metal equipment component with a pipe 5, the yield limit and modulus of elasticity of which are greater than those of the connecting socket 2. The wall thickness of the socket 2 has been dimensioned such that it can be pressed onto a pipe 5 matched to its inner diameter. Since the pipe in question, for example, is made of plastic or copper, the yield limit and modulus of elasticity of the pipe are less than those of the socket 2, so that into the pipe there is inserted an elastic supporting sleeve, the yield limit and modulus of elasticity of which are greater than those of the socket 2 and this sleeve then forces the plastics pipe against the socket 2 so as to form a seal. <IMAGE>
