Abstract

The invention concerns a method and a device used in a fodder factory for treating and using seeds from leguminous plants. The seed from the leguminous plant is shelled in a shelling device 2, crushed in a crusher 4 and finely ground in grinding devices 7, 8. The meal is separated in air sizers 12, 15, 16 into two or more fractions in order to convert the starch grains originating from the cotyledon cells mainly to coarse fractions and to convert the protein particles mainly to fine fractions. To facilitate fractionation, use is made of a predetermined species of leguminous plant. By carrying out the grinding by a spray grinding technique known per se, a sufficiently small particle size is obtained without thermal damage to the product. The process has been integrated into part of the fodder production line of the factory, so that at least part of the meal fractions are apportioned to the fodder mix during production. <IMAGE>
