Abstract

An electron multiplier is spaced at a short distance from a fluorescent screen applied to a substantially plane faceplate. Behind the electron multiplier, a deflection electrode array lies substantially parallel and close to the path of the beam from an electron gun in the neck of the tube. - The beam approaches the electron multiplier, at a substantially constant angle regardless of the length of throw. Electromagnetic scanning coils are attached outside the envelope at the transition between the neck and fan.
