Abstract

Objects are sorted as a function of parameters concerning their outward appearance. The process consists in generating at least one video image of each object by means of a video camera (3, 4), aquiring in real time the video analogue signal of each image and converting it into a digital code matrix representing the greyness levels of the points, storing and processing by calculation each matrix of digital codes so as to generate a series of digital data representative of the parameter values of the object and carrying out tests on these series of data as a function of the sorting to be carried out in order to output usable classification data.
