Abstract

The process is used to condition nursery plants in prepn. for their transportation or storage, entailing the sealed bagging of the soil clump surrounding the root system. The clump is wrapped in a sheet of synthetic heat-shrinking film. The wrapping may be pre-perforated by mechanical processes or by heat treatments, and may be temporarily secured on the clump by e.g. clips. The heat treatment may also weld together overlain film areas at creases and folds, and may be applied by a gas bottle fed blow torch.
