Abstract

The heat exchanger contains a partition (4) provided between a hot chamber (6) and a cold chamber (8). This partition consists of a series of adjacent revolving rollers (4), one face of which is successively brought in front of the two chambers as a consequence of their motion. The furnace (7), in which the heat exchanger is mounted and which is a furnace for heating and reducing minerals for the smelting thereof, has the partition arranged above a container (8) which is open upwards and is intended to contain the materials to be heated, and an upper hot chamber (6) comprising at least one naked-flame burner (10).
