Abstract

The device comprises a head rotating intermittently about a horizontal axis having two compartments (10) located alongside one other and being open in the region of one of the sides (13) bounding said head perpendicularly with respect to the axis of rotation and a means for transferring the cigarette containers open at the top into one of said compartments (10), aligned therewith, through the corresponding opening, while the other compartment is in vertical alignment on the hopper. To ensure that the compartments are arranged next to one another and to reduce the height from which the cigarettes fall into the hopper, the device is designed such that the rotating head is supported in the manner of a bracket by a shaft (41) supported by two bearings (42) housed in a support (24). The shaft (41) has arranged on it a gear (40) which by means of a kinematic mechanism (30, 31, 32, 39) comprising a Geneva wheel device (37) is connected to a motor (29) for the intermittent rotation of the rotating head.
