Abstract

Un procedimiento para la producción de dióxido de titanio pigmentario por formación de una suspensión acuosa de partículas de dióxido de titanio que contienen un silicato soluble en agua y una fuente de otro compuesto hidrolizable y precipitación de un revestimiento de óxido hidratado, caracterizado porque se añade a la suspensión de dióxido de titanio que contiene un silicato una fuente ácido de un óxido de zirconio, hafnio o titanio soluble mientras que se mantiene el pH de la suspensión en un valor de 1 a 3,5 y con lo cual se precipita un óxido de silicio hidratado sobre las partículas y elevar el pH de la suspensión para efectuar la precipitación completa de un óxido hidratado de zirconio, hafnio o titanio sobre las partículas.
