A recombination apparatus for combining hydrogen gas and oxygen gas to form water vapor, comprising a housing having inlet openings to accept hydrogen and oxygen, and outlet openings through which water vapor passes after recombination hydrogen and oxygen; and characterized by an electric heating element arranged within the housing and intended to be operated at a power density sufficient to heat the gas passed over the heating element to a temperature sufficient to combine a substantial portion of the hydrogen and the oxygen present in the chamber.
