Improvements in the preparation of jelly-like detergent compositions for prewash, characterized in that the detergent is obtained by intimately mixing essentially the following ingredients: (1) From about 8 weight percent to about 30 weight percent of straight or branched chain alkylbenzenesulfonate; (2) from about 10 weight percent to about 62 weight percent of amphiphilic polyoxyethylene nonionic surfactant, and (3) with the balance being water, the sum of the ingredients (1) plus (2) in ranging from about 25 weight percent to about 70 weight percent of the total composition.
