Abstract

A method of reproducing images that comprises the steps of: a) Electrically charging a photoconductive layer that may optionally be supported by a substrate, said photoconductive layer being suitable for use in a xerographic recycling process, said photoconductive layer comprising a mixture of finely divided particles of at least two photoconductive materials dispersed in an agent organic binder, said mixture being capable of generating and injecting gaps and electrons in response to imaging exposure, and said mixture being present in an amount of up to 15 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of the binding agent, and containing said mixture of 0.5 to 5 parts by weight of cadmium sulfoselenide per 100 parts by weight of the binding agent, said binding agent being capable of transporting gaps and electrons but unable to generate substantially gaps and electrons during imaging imaging while in capable of transporting and generating gaps and ele ctrons during exposure to lighting at a level relatively higher than the level of exposure with imaging in a substantially zero electric field, and said binding agent comprising a sensitized material selected from the group consisting of polyvinyl carbazole, a resin of polycarbonate, and a vinylchloride-vinyl acetate copolymer. b) Exposing said layer to a configuration of radiation sufficient to cause said particles to generate and inject gaps and electrons and to cause said binding agent to transport gaps and electrons but insufficient to generate gaps and electrons in said binding agent which can contribute substantially to the formation of an electrostatic image until an electrostatic image has been formed.
