Apparatus suitable for continuously carrying out reactions in which the viscosity of the reaction mixture changes as the reaction proceeds and in which the reaction mixture and product are in the liquid phase, e.g. polycondensation, comprises a hollow shell reactor 1 with degassing orifices 4 through with the reaction mixture is continually passed from inlet 2 to outlet 3.
