Abstract

Novel benzenesulphonyl - ureas (including salts thereof) of the general formula wherein R1 signifies 4,7-endomethylene-perhydroindan-5-yl which may be substituted by chlorine at the 6-position, 4,7-endomethyleneperhydroindan - 2 - yl, 2,6 - endomethylenecycloheptyl, 4,4 - dimethyl #2 - cyclohexenyl, #2 - cyclopentenyl, -heptenyl or -octenyl, norcaran-7-yl, bicyclo-[5,1,0]-octyl-(8), bicyclo- [6,10] - nonyl - (9), bicyclo - [4,2,0] - octyl - (7), 2,5 - endo - cyclobutylene - (1,2) - cyclohexyl, methyl - cyclopentyl, 3,3 - dimethyl - cyclopentyl, 3 - ethyl cyclopentyl, 3 - tert. - butylcyclopentyl, 2 - chloro - cyclopentyl, #2 - cyclopentenyl - methyl, bicyclo - [2,1,1] - hexyl - (2), spiro - (2 - cyclopropane - cyclopentyl), spiro- (2 - cyclobutane - cyclopentyl), spiro - (2 - cyclopentane - cyclopentyl), cyclopropyl, cyclobutyl, 5 - methyl - #2 - cyclohexenyl, or bicyclo - [3,1,0] - hexyl, X represents (a) a phenyl group carrying at any desired position the substituents Z and Z1 which may be the same or different and wherein Z signifies hydrogen, halogen, alkyl, alkoxy, alkenoxy, alkoxyalkoxy, phenalkoxy, acyl, benzoyl, CF 3 or OH and Z1 signifies CN, NO 2 , hydrogen, halogen, alkyl, alkoxy, alkoxy-alkoxy, or OH or (b) a thiophene group which may be substituted by one or two substituents selected from alkyl, alkoxy, alkoxy-alkoxy, alkenoxy, phenalkoxy radicals and halogen atoms, and Y signifies -CH 2 .CH 2 .-, -CH 2 .CH.Me- or -CH.Me.CH 2 - are obtained according to Standard methods. 5 Amino - 4,7 - endomethylene - perhydroindane is prepared by hydrogenating dicyclopentadiene-bis-nitroso-chloride. N - [4 - (# - <2 - Methoxy - 5 - chloro - benzamido> - ethyl) - benzenesulphonyl] - N1 - (4,7- endomethylene - perhydroindanyl - 5) - isourea methyl ether is obtained by treating the corresponding thiourea with mercury oxide in the presence of methanol and dioxane. Pharmaceutical preparations showing hypoglycaemic activity contain as active ingredient the above novel compounds administration is, e.g. in the form of a tablet or powder.
