Abstract

In a radiator of the type having spaced-apart fin plates 2 (Fig. 1) penetrated by a nest of fluid flow tubes 1 of substantially rectangular crosssection, each fin is formed with integral flanged tube passages 3, the flange region comprising an edge portion 4, a step 6, and a neck 7 which engages the tube 1 in the space adjacent the edge 4a of the contiguous fin 2a. The " pitch " p of the fins is smaller than half the width l of the tubes 1. In a modification, as shown in Fig. 4, an oblique edge 8 is joined by a step 9 to the neck 7, the latter having a diverging end 7a which on assembly, is in contact with the step 9a of an adjacent fin 2a thus providing mutual bracing for the fins. Alternatively (Fig. 3), the step may be omitted and the oblique portion 8 is then joined directly to the neck 7.
