Abstract
A forced flow supercritical vapour generator comprises a furnace chamber 22 and a succeeding gas down pass 26. Water from economizer 4, support tubes 8 and vessel 12 is passed by pump 14 to lower furnace wall headers 18. From headers 18 it flows through tubular vertical wall panels 20 lining the lower part of the furnace 22 to mixing header 24. From header 24 fluid flows in parallel through tubular vertical wall panels 28 lining the upper part of furnace chamber 22, and through tubular vertical wall panels 32 lining the walls of gas flue 26, to outlet header 30. The fluid then passes through superheater panels 36, and superheater sections 38, 40, 42 and 44, being subsequently heated in reheaters 50 and 52. Part of the output from header 30 may be recirculated through line 64 and valve 66 to vessel 12 for mixing with the feed water from economizer 4. The tubes of panels 20 are of smaller diameter and pitch than those of panels 28 which are in turn of smaller diameter and pitch than the tubes of panels 32.
