Abstract

A vehicle engine-support comprises an open-ended casing 7,2 whose open end is closed by an elastomeric membrane 3 to which there is connected a core 4 to which the vehicle engine is secured. The casing and the membrane together enclose a fluid-tight cavity which contains an incompressible liquid and a container 8. The container 8 consists of a body which is closed by a lid 9 and there is an expansible (flexible) diaphragm 11 under the lid inside the container. The body and the diaphragm together create a fluid-tight space 12 which contains a compressible (gaseous) fluid. The lid has one or more holes 10 in it and these permit the liquid to pass from the cavity into the space between the lid and the diaphragm. The support reduces vibrations of high-frequency and low-amplitude and damps those of low-frequency and high-amplitude.
