Abstract

A tunnel kiln, for tiles conveyed as a single layer on a transport or roller system, has at least two series of burners with different characteristics provided on each wall, the burners of one series being used mainly for heating certain zones of the tunnel cross-section. Preferably, the burners of one series are in the form of normal burners with axial flames and the burners of the other series are in the form of burners with axial and radial flames. The burners of each series (51, 52) are preferably in the form of heads or ends of independent supply lines and are preferably supplied in groups, each group being in the form of a head or end of a collector formed by the supply line of its associated series and autonomous regulating devices being provided for regulating the supply depending on the temperature determined in the corresponding section of the kiln. Preferably, the burners of one series are spaced from the burners of the other series in a row (31, 32) of burners mounted on the tunnel wall.
