Abstract

A valve for shutting off a pipeline in gas-tight fashion comprises a blanking double disc (3) attached to a swivel arm (5) which can be swung about a shaft (4) disposed outside the pipeline. The valve comprises a gas-tight housing (1) which can be installed in the pipeline via flange joints (2) and in which the blanking disc (3) and the swivel arm (5) are arranged and can be moved between a closed position and an open position. Annular soft sealing elements (7, Fig 4) are disposed on the outer flat sides of the blanking discs (3a, 3b, Fig 2) and cooperate with rigid annular projections (6) surrounding the end of each half of the pipeline. Discs (3a, 3b) are moved apart to seal each end of the pipeline. To change the seals discs (3a, 3b) are swung into port 1a of the housing door (8, Fig 3) moved to seal housing part 1a from part 1b.
