Abstract
In a process for identifying objects by means of an ultrasonic emitting and receiving system, at least one signature characteristic of the generating curve of the envelope of the ultrasonic signals (16, 17) reflected by the object (10) to be identified, said signature characteristic being independent of the amplitude and transit time, is compared with a signature characteristic deposited in a memory (27) of a signal-processing arrangement (21) during an adaptive phase.
