LA PRESENTE INVENCION SE REFIERE A UN PROCEDIMIENTO PARA BLANQUEAR Y AUMENTAR LA CAPACIDAD DE INTERCAMBIO IONICO DEL MINERAL DE SEPIOLITA, CONSISTENTE BASICAMENTE EN EL TRATAMIENTO PH Y TEMPERATURA ELEVADOS, DE LA SEPIOLITA CON UNA DISOLUCION DE UNA SAL DE CARACTER BASICO, LO QUE DA LUGAR AL BLANQUEO DEL MATERIAL DE PARTIDA POR DISOLUCION DE LA MATERIA ORGANICA PRESENTE EN EL MISMO, Y AL INCREMENTO EN LA CAPACIDAD DE INTERCAMBIO IONICO AL PRODUCIRSE UNA TRANSFORMACION ESTRUCTURAL DE LA SEPIOLITA. EVENTUALMENTE, EL BLANQUEO PUEDE COMPLETARSE CON UN TRATAMIENTO DE REDUCCION CON DITIONITO SODICO U OTROS AGENTES REDUCTORES SUSCEPTIBLES DE REDUCIR FE3+ A FEY+.
