It has been advantageously found that providing a tubular member 5 having a length less than 18 mm, or less than the length of the aerosol generating material 2, reduces the likelihood of desirable components of the aerosol condensing on the inner surface of the tubular member 5. It has also been surprisingly found that providing a hollow tubular body 3, having a smaller inner diameter than hollow tubular member 5, immediately downstream of the hollow tubular member 5 provides a further improvement in the aerosol by channelling the hot aerosol through the centre of the hollow tubular member 5, further reducing condensation on the inner surface of the tubular member.
