Abstract
Description
- The invention belongs to the field of mechanics, namely, to sliding door frames, especially those used in corner structures. These are structures where one or even both sides of the corner are covered by sliding leaves.
- The technical problem with this type of frames is the leaf handle, which is adjusted on its lock: when the frame shuts, the handle is very close to the second (vertical) side of the corner. As a result, access, and handling (opening - closing) of the leaf handle become difficult.
- The solution proposed according to prior art is the use of gears between the handle and the locking mechanism, as in
EP0505678 (B1 ) with a small displacement distance. Furthermore, the use of lifting and rolling mechanisms is proposed for robust structures, usually involving large leaves (likeEP2918762 (A1 ) andEP3425149 (A1 )) -although this cannot be placed in every sliding frame-, as well as the use of a simple latch mechanism (CN108425604 (A )) with limited practicality and safety. InEP2829673 (A1 ) an adapter is used to transfer the handle rotation to a lock placed at a distance from its rotation axis. The rotation of the handle is directly transferred to the locking mechanism, as per the prior art. No transfer of the handle placement centre is affected. - The present invention resolves the above technical problem. It ensures easy access and easy use of the handle of the corner frame leaf.
- The present invention briefly functions as follows:
The adaptor for handle installation transposition is placed on the vertical side profile of the leaf. The leaf features a lengthy handle on its internal side. The invention "adaptor for handle installation transposition" includes, first of all, a locking mechanism/lock of prior art placed on the vertical side of the moving leaf, as per the prior art. The adapter mechanism, which ensures movement transmission, is mounted on the lock so that locking is made with the handle at a distance from the locking mechanism and not on the lock, as per the prior art. The adaptor for handle installation transposition consists of a component for transmitting the motion of the handle and a component for transmitting the motion to the lock; these two components work with each other and are found in closed case which features grooves allowing the movement of components. The case is mounted on the lock of the moving leaf. - The invention "adaptor for handle installation transposition" accelerates the transmission of motion from the external to the internal profile, with the handle found at a distance from the locking mechanism and allowing handling of the mechanism from a distance.
- The advantage of the invention is that, by ensuring the handling of the locking mechanism with the handle preserving its distance from it, even corner openings can be covered by sliding frames featuring the mechanism, because the two sliding frames may "meet" at the corner without their handles bumping on each other. A further advantage is that the invention offers users greater visibility, as it allows coverage by glass frame for corner openings of great surface.
- Moreover, an additional advantage is that the invention uses a multiple point locking mechanism to a corner structure, which is very cost-efficient and is widely used according to prior art.
- Finally, another advantage of this invention is that the adaptor for handle installation transposition is not screwed on the profile but on the lock, therefore ensuring easy installation, replacement and repair of the mechanism and handles, if necessary.

- As illustrated in
drawing 1, the invention "adaptor for handle installation transposition" is mounted on the prior art multiple point lock (3) for sliding doors, which is placed on the vertical side of the moving leave and has a handling hole (12). The invention consists of a case (20) consisting of a top-cap (1) and a base-cap (2). Within the case (20) the component transmitting the motion of the handle (5) and the component transmitting the motion to the lock (4) are placed. - As illustrated in
drawings - As illustrated in
drawings - As illustrated in
drawing 3, the invention has a component transmitting motion (4) to the lock, which features on its one end a square-cross section protrusion (9). The component (4) features a straight through groove (10) along its length. - As illustrated in
drawing 4, the invention has a component transmitting the motion of the handle (5). One end of the component (5) features a cylindrical formation and the ends of this cylindrical formation (17a and 17b) protrude in equal lengths on both sides of the component, allowing proper placement of the top-cap (1) and the base-cap (2) respectively in the through holes (15 and 16) of the case. The interior of the cylindrical formation has a through hole (8) of square cross section. The other end of the component transmitting the motion of the handle (5) features on both sides two, uneven in length, coaxial protrusions (13a and 13b), with one protrusion (13a) being larger than the other (13b). - As illustrated in
drawings - The assembly of the adaptor for handle installation transposition with motion transmission, is done as follows (
drawings
First of all, as illustrated indrawing 2, the component transmitting the motion of the handle (5) and the component transmitting the motion to the lock (4) are connected. In specific, the longer protrusion (13a) of the component transmitting the motion of the handle (5) goes in the straight through groove (10) of the component transmitting the motion to the lock (4). Then, this assembly of two components (4 and 5) is placed inside the base-cap (2) of the case (20), as follows: the component transmitting the motion of the handle (5) with its one end with the cylindrical formation (17b) (drawings drawings 1, 2). The entire case (20) is mounted in the lock (3) of the sliding leaf with two through holes (21) (drawings - As illustrated in
drawings - The operation of the invention mechanism is described below, with reference to
drawings - Users rotate the handle (11), through the connection of the handle axis (14) which is found in the through square cross section hole (8) of the cylinder formation end (17b) of the motion transmission component (5). The rotation is transmitted to the motion transmission component (5), which makes a rotating move with coaxial protrusions (13a) and (13b), with the axis of the through hole (8) as rotation centre. The movement of the component (5) is delimited by the length of semi-circular grooves (6) and (7), as its co-axial protrusions (13a and 13b) move exclusively within the grooves (6 and 7).
- The rotation of the motion transmission component (5) is transferred to motion transmission component (4), through the connection of its longer protrusion (13a), which is found in the through groove (10). Motion transmission component (4), with square cross section protrusion (9) makes a rotational move having as its centre the axis of the handling hole (12) of the multiple point sliding door lock (3) which is placed on the vertical side of the moving leaf. The square cross section protrusion (9) rotates within the square cross section handling hole (12) and activates the lock (3).
- The present invention can be applied in all door openings covered by sliding frames, whether corner bypass or not.
