The present invention relates to an apparatus for luggage, in particular an apparatus for carrying objects inside and outside a suitcase.

Arrière-plan technologiqueTechnology background

In our societies, the number of people who enjoy traveling is constantly increasing. In particular, air travel is very popular with these many people.

However, when traveling it can be problematic to transport luggage, such as in airports or train stations for example and more generally, in all places where the traveler must transport large quantities of objects.

Typically, travelers use suitcases on wheels to facilitate the transport of objects which can then be stored inside the suitcase. However, when the traveler is in possession of one or more suitcases or is transporting several independent objects, he or she may very quickly be faced with problems moving all of these objects or suitcases in an organized and secure manner.

The document US 2017/01815114 A1 (CASTILLO MACHADO LUIS ) teaches a suitcase, equipped with wheels on one side and one side allowing it to roll in both horizontal and vertical planes. The suitcase is capable of being joined to other suitcases by fasteners connecting the same sides of said suitcases. The disadvantages of the proposed structure are on the one hand that the assembly formed by said suitcase does not provide the stability necessary to ensure simple traction for the user. On the other hand, the case thus proposed does not allow the user to use each of the cases of the assembly independently, while benefiting from a modulation of the rolling orientation of each case.

The document US 2013/0037364 (READY ROSA ) teaches a suitcase capable of serving as a base for stacking, and comprising an extensible flexible part for fixing objects on one side as well as a handle with an articulated connection. The assembly thus proposed does not make it possible to obtain a stable, practical and modular assembly.

The document US 2010/0147642 A1 (ANDOCHICK SCOTT ) teaches a system of suitcases that can be assembled together, having particular structures such as hollow tracks and raised ribs in order to stabilize the assembly of several suitcases. The suitcases thus proposed pose an assembly problem which cannot guarantee satisfactory stability while allowing modulation of the rolling orientation, as well as ease of traction of said suitcase.

Le document US 2012/228074 A1 divulgue l'objet du préambule de la revendication 1.The document US 2012/228074 A1 discloses the subject matter of the preamble of claim 1.

The need to overcome problems encountered on existing devices led to the present invention.

Résumé de l'inventionSummary of the invention

According to the present invention, there is provided a luggage apparatus according to claim 1, comprising: a suitcase with substantially rigid sides, and at least one substantially rigid face, wherein the sides include an extendable flexible securing portion for securing luggage. objects on the face; and in which the suitcase comprises one or more wheels which project with reference to a face and one or more wheels which project with reference to a side, and a handle with an articulated connection to the suitcase; such that the suitcase is configured to allow a user to pull the suitcase on wheels when the suitcase is in two orientations, vertical and orthogonal.

For example, the wheels may be provided on one end side and one face, wherein the suitcase includes two end sides, and two long sides, as well as two opposing faces.

This way the suitcase can be rolled face down and rolled upright or tilted on one end. In the face down position, it can be envisaged that the suitcases can be stacked.

In some embodiments, the wheels on the end side may include standard wheels or suitcase wheels known in the art, such as caster wheels. These wheels can protrude from the side in order to maximize the internal space in the suitcase.

The wheels on the face are envisaged to be significantly smaller, and recessed into the face so as to avoid creating too large a protrusion or protruding too much upwards, and to limit the loss of internal space.

In some embodiments of the apparatus, for example, the cases may be contemplated for use as part of a stacking apparatus, wherein the apparatus includes more than one device including the case, such as sale. The faces of the devices are configured to fit together, and the side attachment portion may be configured to secure the sides of different devices together.

According to the invention, in order to provide a substantially flat surface or in order to provide a face better configured to fit with other devices, and/or in order to provide a surface to the face better adapted to limit the movement of objects carried on the face, the front and rear faces have raised and hollow parts.

In some embodiments, the wheels may include caster wheels, for example on the end side, so as to advantageously allow greater degrees of movement.

The articulated connection between the suitcase and the handle includes an articulated base. In some embodiments, the handle is configured to allow for minimization, for example configured to be foldable or telescopic. Conversely, this minimization can allow the handle to be extendable to significant lengths, so as to provide maximum comfort when the suitcase is flat on one side.

It can be envisaged that, to facilitate storage when the device is not in use, the handle can be reduced in size by coaxial telescoping and be articulated on one side or one face of the suitcase.

According to one embodiment according to the invention, a suitcase serving as a base for the assembly, called a "trolley", can be assembled vertically with at least one additional suitcase of smaller size placed on said trolley case while guaranteeing the stability of assembly.

For example, the additional suitcase is of chosen size, and thus suitable for being stored in the trolley case so that the spatial bulk of the assembly thus stored only represents the volume of the trolley suitcase.

The hinged connection of the handle may allow the handle to be angled relative to the suitcase or directed straight upward from one end of the case. suitcase ; to allow comfortable transportation in either orientation.

In some embodiments, articulation is provided by a pivot. In others, the hinged connection may allow rotation as well as articulation.

In some embodiments, the hinged link can be locked, for example in two positions, so that the case can be configured for easy use in a first or second orientation. Additionally or alternatively, the articulated connection may comprise a notch or ratchet joint, so as to allow a plurality of locked positions.

The flexible attachment portion may extend from one or more sides of the suitcase. For example, in some embodiments, the portion may extend from both long sides so as to meet above the center of the rear face. In some embodiments, the portion may include four separate portions meeting above the rear face, so as to provide a more efficient means of holding objects on the rear face without loss.

The flexible attachment portion may include a single portion, which is configured to extend from one side of the case, pass over an object, and clip into a clip on the opposite side. The sides of the suitcase may thus differ, or in some embodiments, the part may comprise two portions which may be spaced apart and/or inverted in formation, passing over the rear face when in use to clip together.

In some embodiments, the clips or other portions may be latched or lockable so as to lock the portion when the portion is extended on the rear face.

In some embodiments, the portion may be configured to extend over a spool mechanism. In some embodiments, the part may comprise an elastomeric material.

In some systems, embodiments of the cases of the present invention may differ from each other in configuration and/or dimension so as to form a modular system of multiple cases and complementary devices sharing some or all of their characteristics, as long as they meet the characteristics of claim 1.

A preferred embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example only and with reference to the Figures in which:

Description détaillée des FiguresDetailed description of the Figures

With reference to the Figures, there is generally shown an apparatus for luggage generally comprising: a suitcase 99 with substantially rigid sides 7, 8, 17, 77 and two substantially rigid faces 1, 10, in which the sides comprise a fixing part extensible flexible 6 to secure objects on side 1; and in which the suitcase comprises wheels 21 which project with reference to the face 10 and wheels 3 which project with reference to the side 17, and a handle 2 with an articulated base 12, such that the suitcase 99 is configured to allow a user to pull the suitcase on the wheels 3, 21 in more than one orientation.

The base includes an articulated connection 12 between the suitcase 99 and the handle 2.

Le mode de réalisation est formé dans un matériau thermoplastique ou polymère tel que l'acrylonitrile butadiène styrène (ABS).Referring in particular to the embodiment shown in the Figure 1 , there is shown an embodiment comprising a suitcase with rigid faces and sides 99 with rounded and reinforced corners 71. The embodiment is formed in a thermoplastic or polymer material such as acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS).

The embodiment comprises a metal handle 2, with a powder coating, folding coaxially, and having a grip element 15 orthogonal to two elongated and telescopic elements 13, 14.

The sides are continuous around the rounded corners, and act to separate the two parallel faces 1, 10, comprising a front face 10 and a rear face 1.

Both sides are wavy, with raised and hollow parts.

The faces are corrugated correspondingly and equally with respective portions of hollow tracks and raised rib 11 such that the rear face of one case fits with the front face of another case and vice versa.

According to a first embodiment in accordance with the invention, the so-called “additional” suitcases 100 mounted on a so-called “trolley” suitcase 99 may be identical.

According to a particular embodiment of the invention, the so-called “trolley” suitcase 99 can be assembled with additional suitcases 100 of smaller sizes while guaranteeing the stability of the assembly.

By way of non-limiting example, said additional suitcases 100 can be of intermediate size for the first suitcase placed on the trolley case 99, and of small size for the suitcase placed on the suitcase of intermediate size.

Advantageously, the assembly formed by the suitcases thus described allows optimized storage, the suitcases being able to be stored one inside the other so that the spatial bulk only represents the volume of the trolley case.

However, the rear face also includes the articulated connection of the handle 2 and a location for storing the handle 2 when not in use. The hinged connection includes two hinged pivot bases 12 located at the proximal ends of the elongated handle members 13, distal to the grip member 15. The storage location includes a U-shaped indentation 18 extending from the articulated swivel bases 12.

The rear face 1 further comprises raised and hollow surfaces 11, which correspond with the opposite front face 10, and in particular the wheels 3, so as to allow the assembly and nesting of the faces, thus allowing efficient stacking suitcases with minimal bulk, also ensuring that suitcases are less likely to move when stacked. Additionally or alternatively, interlocking also limits movement at the end.

Advantageously, the wheels 21 projecting with reference to a face 10 are recessed according to dimensions chosen so as to guarantee the stability of an interlocking between the corrugated faces having raised and hollow parts, while guaranteeing a sufficient height to allow adequate rolling in a horizontal orientation, without friction of said face 10 on the ground.

The handle extends from a proximal or upper side, at an angle allowing the user to pull the suitcase in their preferred orientation, namely with the handle 2 at an obtuse angle to the rear face 1 when the front face 10 is in contact with the ground, and largely coaxial with the rear face 1 when the lower face 17 is in contact with the ground.

The swivel wheels 3 on the lower side 17 mean that the suitcase can be manufactured similarly to a conventional suitcase.

The front face 10 includes four small wheels 21 spaced in two sets of parallel wheels located near the ends.

Smaller wheels 21 on front face 10 also facilitate manufacturing because they can be inserted into a hard shell bottom cover or front face. These are also more discreet compared to disc wheels.

Handle 2 is integrated into rear face 1. This allows it to both articulate and slide for greater length. Handle 2 stays in position with a friction fit.

The user can turn handle 2 then press a button located inside the handle to extend it.

As shown on the Figures 5 And 6 , multiple devices 100 are configured to be stacked on top of each other and on the case 99 of the present invention so as to form a second aspect of the present invention. The opposite faces 1, 10 of the devices are configured in the same way as for the suitcase and fit into each other thanks to the raised ribs and hollow tracks 11, 20. In this way, the device is configured to stacking more than one suitcase and other devices or objects in which the opposing faces 1,10 of the suitcase are configured to nest together using a raised rib and track portions hollows 11, 20.

The fixing of objects on the rear face of the suitcase 1 is carried out by a retractable strap 61 of the extensible part 6 with a male buckle clip 23 which extends from a central articulated handle 9 on a long side 77 of the mode of realization and which clips into a female loop clip 16 on the opposite side 8 of the suitcase in order to secure the suitcases together. In some embodiments, part 6 can engage with the handles of other suitcases.

More particularly, the fixing means 6 thus comprises a nylon canvas strap (RTM) 61 with a thermoplastic buckle 23 at its end, in which the strap 61 extends from a reel 24 through a slot 22 in the side 77 of the suitcase, extends over the rear side 1 of the suitcase, and all objects placed on the rear side, and clips into the buckle clip 16 on the other side 8 of the suitcase.

Connu de la technique, les côtés longs de la valise 8, 77 comprennent des poignées articulées centrales 9.Known from the art, the long sides of the suitcase 8, 77 include central articulated handles 9.
