Claims (10)

  1. A device (1) for lifting and transferring a rail vehicle (7) off a track (10), the lifting device (1) comprising:
    i. a plurality of lifting cylinders (5) adapted to lift a rail vehicle (7) above a track (10);
    ii. a plurality of pairs of transverse rails (12), each pair of transverse rails forming a transverse track adapted to be placed underneath the rail vehicle (7) once the rail vehicle (7) has been lifted above the track (10) by means of the lifting cylinders (5), the transverse tracks being intended to be arranged to cross the track (10) perpendicular to the track (10);
    iii. a plurality of carriages (14) to move the rail vehicle (7) along the transverse tracks (12), each carriage (14) being adapted to receive one axle (18) of the rail vehicle (7) to be moved;
    iv. a plurality of dual-action cylinders (16) adapted to move the rail vehicle (7) off the track (10) and along the transverse tracks, each dual-action cylinder (16) being provided with means for fastening onto at least one of the transverse rails (12) and onto at least one of the movement carriages (14).
  2. A lifting device (1) according to claim 1, characterized in that the lifting cylinders (5) and the dual-action cylinders (16) are hydraulic cylinders, the lifting device (1) further comprising a hydraulic unit (21) enabling all the cylinders to be connected to the hydraulic unit (21) and to synchronize the lifting of the rail vehicle (7) above a track (10) and also to transfer that rail vehicle off the track (10).

  6. A method for lifting and transferring a rail vehicle (7) off a track (10) using the lifting device (1) according to any one of the preceding claims, that method comprising at least the following steps:
    (a) Providing the lifting device (1) according to any one of the preceding claims and a rail vehicle to be moved off a track (10) on which it is located,
    (b) Elevating the rail vehicle (7) above the track (10) using lifting cylinders (5),
    (c) Placing the transverse rails (12) perpendicular to the track (10) on which the rail vehicle (7) is located, with one pair of transverse rails (12), forming a transverse track, under each axle (18) of the rail vehicle (7),
    (d) Placing a carriage (14) onto each transverse track and under each axle (18) of the rail vehicle (7),
    (e) Fastening the dual-action cylinders (16) to the carriages (14) and to the transverse rails (12),
    (f) Translating the rail vehicle (7) along the transverse tracks using the dual-action cylinders (16).
  7. A lifting method (5) according to claim 6, characterized in that the lifting cylinders (5) and the dual-action cylinders (16) are hydraulic cylinders, the device further comprising a hydraulic unit (21) enabling all the cylinders to be connected to the hydraulic unit (21) and to synchronize the lifting (5) of the rail vehicle (7) above the track (10) and also to transfer that rail vehicle off the track (10),
