Definitions
- the invention relates to an absorber column and its use for separating unwanted, in particular acidic gas components, for example carbon dioxide and hydrogen sulfide, from a raw synthesis gas by absorption with an absorbent, especially at low load conditions of the absorber column with respect to the syngas loading.
- the invention further relates to a process for the preparation of a carbon dioxide-containing pure synthesis gas which is suitable, for example, for the synthesis of methanol, from a crude synthesis gas using the absorber column according to the invention.
- the methanol used as absorbent, loaded with the interfering components is circulated in the Rectisol process via regeneration devices.
- the regeneration devices the loaded methanol is physically freed from the absorbed gases.
- CO 2 is removed from the loaded methanol absorbent by pressure release (so-called flash regeneration) and / or stripping with a gas, for example nitrogen.
- the sulfur-containing gases, COS and H 2 S are driven off by heating (so-called hot regeneration).
- the aim is to produce a CO 2 -free COS / H 2 S gas, since its economically interesting further processing by mixing with CO 2 is impaired.
- the Rectisol method a distinction is made between the standard method and the selective Rectisol method.
- the co-gases COS / H 2 S and CO 2 are separated together from the crude synthesis gas in one absorption step.
- the sulfur-containing accompanying gases COS / H 2 S and the CO 2 are separated from the crude synthesis gas in separate, consecutive absorption steps.
- This selective absorption is achieved by appropriate adjustment of the process parameters, in particular the amount ratio of absorbent and gas to be absorbed, allows.
- the advantage of selective absorption is that most of the COS / H 2 S and CO 2 gas is separated during absorption, and only the smaller part has to be separated during the regeneration of the methanol. In this way, moreover, the recovery of the sulfur contained by means of downstream methods such as the Claus method allows.
- the complete separation of the carbon dioxide is not always desired. Rather, it is required that the pure synthesis gas to be used as feed gas for the synthesis of methanol still has a certain amount of carbon dioxide, for example 2% by volume. This requirement is taken into account by appropriate design of the absorber column, in particular the washing stages in the usually upper column part which is selective for CO 2 separation. However, such interpretations of standard conditions are in particular for the involved flow rates of the synthesis gas and the absorbent from.
- the absorption medium can not be lowered to the same extent, since otherwise the hydraulically stable working range of the absorber column would leave.
- the too high for the reduced gas flow rate absorption then causes excessive separation of carbon dioxide in view of the desired content for methanol synthesis content.
- a bypass line has been proposed with which a portion of the synthesis gas is passed around after passing through the selective for the separation of sulfur components column area to the CO 2 washing stages, so that the CO 2 concentration in the pure synthesis gas can be adjusted accordingly.
- the object of the invention is therefore to provide an absorber column, its use and a method for producing a carbon dioxide-containing pure synthesis gas with a defined carbon dioxide content from a raw synthesis gas which offers the abovementioned alternative.
- This object is essentially achieved by an absorber column having the features of claim 1, by its use for producing a carbon dioxide-containing pure synthesis gas having a defined carbon dioxide content from a crude synthesis gas according to claim 6 et seq., And by the process according to claim 8 et seq.
- particularly preferred embodiments of the absorber column, their use and the method can be found in the respective subclaims.
- absorption region is understood to mean a spatially separated or separable region or section of the absorber column, which is structurally designed in such a way that a significant mass transfer from the gas phase into the liquid absorption medium with respect to the components of the synthesis gas to be separated can take place.
- To the absorption region comprises one or more mass transfer zones. These are designed so that by increasing the interface between the gas and the liquid absorbent mass transfer between the two phases is intensified.
- the design of such mass transfer zones is therefore usually carried out by means of trays, for example by means of valve trays or bubble-cap trays, or by means of structured packings. Combinations of these embodiments are possible.
- fluid communication between two regions is meant any type of connection that allows a fluid, such as the liquid absorbent, to flow from one to the other of the two regions, irrespective of any intervening regions, components, fittings, or devices.
- Pressure data in the unit bar (a) refer to the absolute pressure in bar, absolute.
- the invention is based on the finding that a defined concentration of carbon dioxide in the pure synthesis gas can be effected by the regenerated by heating absorbent whose CO 2 concentration is too small due to the hot regeneration to set the desired concentration of carbon dioxide in the pure synthesis gas, before it is introduced into the absorber column via the first absorbent inlet, which is arranged above the uppermost, the final purification of the synthesis gas serving mass transfer zone of the upper absorption region, a defined proportion of the pressure-release regenerated absorbent.
- a connecting line between the first and the second supply line is required, preferably still in this conduction path a control valve is arranged and the fine adjustment of the absorbent stream from the second supply line (supply line for the regenerated by pressure absorption) in the first supply line (supply line for by Heating regenerated absorbent) is used.
- the conduits and fittings required for this are smaller and less susceptible to interference than those needed for switching a bypass around that around the CO 2 adsorption stages.

The invention further relates to a process for the preparation of a carbon dioxide-containing pure synthesis gas which is suitable, for example, for the synthesis of methanol, from a crude synthesis gas using the absorber column according to the invention.
The methanol used as absorbent, loaded with the interfering components is circulated in the Rectisol process via regeneration devices. In the regeneration devices, the loaded methanol is physically freed from the absorbed gases. In this case, in a first regeneration step, CO 2 is removed from the loaded methanol absorbent by pressure release (so-called flash regeneration) and / or stripping with a gas, for example nitrogen. In a further or alternative regeneration step, the sulfur-containing gases, COS and H 2 S, are driven off by heating (so-called hot regeneration). Often, the aim is to produce a CO 2 -free COS / H 2 S gas, since its economically interesting further processing by mixing with CO 2 is impaired.
In the Rectisol method, a distinction is made between the standard method and the selective Rectisol method. In the standard Rectisol process, the co-gases COS / H 2 S and CO 2 are separated together from the crude synthesis gas in one absorption step. By contrast, in the so-called selective rectisol process, the sulfur-containing accompanying gases COS / H 2 S and the CO 2 are separated from the crude synthesis gas in separate, consecutive absorption steps. This selective absorption is achieved by appropriate adjustment of the process parameters, in particular the amount ratio of absorbent and gas to be absorbed, allows. The advantage of selective absorption is that most of the COS / H 2 S and CO 2 gas is separated during absorption, and only the smaller part has to be separated during the regeneration of the methanol. In this way, moreover, the recovery of the sulfur contained by means of downstream methods such as the Claus method allows.
After passing through mostly several regeneration steps, several partial streams of the absorbent freed from the interfering components, ie, in the case of the Rectisol process, that is, typically the methanol, are recycled to the absorber column. The regenerated by hot regeneration absorbent has the highest purity and is therefore used for fine wash or fine absorption of pre-purified synthesis gas; it thus represents the final washing stage before the purified synthesis gas as a pure synthesis gas usually leaves the absorber column at its upper end. The regenerated by Flashregenerierung absorbent has a slightly lower purity and in particular is still partially laden with carbon dioxide. This absorbent is used in the so-called CO 2 main wash, which is arranged from the perspective of the synthesis gas passing through the absorber column upstream of the fine wash, usually below the fine wash stage.
If the generated pure synthesis gas is to be used for a subsequent methanol synthesis, the complete separation of the carbon dioxide is not always desired. If there is a decrease in the raw synthesis gas supply to the absorber column, for example due to a multistage synthesis gas production by gasification or reforming, in which individual production stages are switched off, the absorption medium can not be lowered to the same extent, since otherwise the hydraulically stable working range of the absorber column would leave. The too high for the reduced gas flow rate absorption then causes excessive separation of carbon dioxide in view of the desired content for methanol synthesis content. As a solution to this problem, a bypass line has been proposed with which a portion of the synthesis gas is passed around after passing through the selective for the separation of sulfur components column area to the CO 2 washing stages, so that the CO 2 concentration in the pure synthesis gas can be adjusted accordingly. The disadvantage here, however, required because of the leadership of a gas flow, large dimension of the piping and fittings, such as the valves used. There is therefore a need for an alternative to the setting of a defined CO 2 concentration in the pure synthesis gas with less expensive means, especially at low or partial load conditions of the absorber column with respect to the supplied raw synthesis gas.

The term "absorption region" is understood to mean a spatially separated or separable region or section of the absorber column, which is structurally designed in such a way that a significant mass transfer from the gas phase into the liquid absorption medium with respect to the components of the synthesis gas to be separated can take place. To the absorption region comprises one or more mass transfer zones. These are designed so that by increasing the interface between the gas and the liquid absorbent mass transfer between the two phases is intensified. The design of such mass transfer zones is therefore usually carried out by means of trays, for example by means of valve trays or bubble-cap trays, or by means of structured packings. Combinations of these embodiments are possible.
By fluid communication between two regions is meant any type of connection that allows a fluid, such as the liquid absorbent, to flow from one to the other of the two regions, irrespective of any intervening regions, components, fittings, or devices.

The invention is based on the finding that a defined concentration of carbon dioxide in the pure synthesis gas can be effected by the regenerated by heating absorbent whose CO 2 concentration is too small due to the hot regeneration to set the desired concentration of carbon dioxide in the pure synthesis gas, before it is introduced into the absorber column via the first absorbent inlet, which is arranged above the uppermost, the final purification of the synthesis gas serving mass transfer zone of the upper absorption region, a defined proportion of the pressure-release regenerated absorbent. For this purpose, a connecting line between the first and the second supply line is required, preferably still in this conduction path a control valve is arranged and the fine adjustment of the absorbent stream from the second supply line (supply line for the regenerated by pressure absorption) in the first supply line (supply line for by Heating regenerated absorbent) is used. It has been found that the conduits and fittings required for this are smaller and less susceptible to interference than those needed for switching a bypass around that around the CO 2 adsorption stages. In addition, the concentration of carbon dioxide in the pure synthesis gas in the inventive manner is finer adjustable than when using the bypass circuit.
A preferred embodiment of the absorber column according to the invention is characterized in that the connecting line comprises a control valve. This embodiment makes it possible to precisely control the inflow of the regenerated by pressure absorption medium from the second supply into the first supply and thus to adjust the content of carbon dioxide in the pure synthesis gas precisely.
It has proven to be particularly advantageous if the first supply line and / or the second supply line comprise a control valve. This embodiment of the absorber column allows even more degrees of freedom in the adjustment of the content of carbon dioxide in the pure synthesis gas and the mass flow of the introduced into the absorber column absorbent.
In a preferred embodiment of the absorber column, this further comprises a separating tray, which is passable for upwardly flowing gases, but impassable for downflowing liquids and which is arranged below the upper mass transfer zone and above the lower mass transfer zone. In this way, the carbon dioxide-laden absorbent can be collected and discharged from the absorber column to supply a portion of the first regeneration device and the remaining portion after cooling again, in the absorber column, for example, in the lower mass transfer zone to initiate. As in this case particularly suitable type of shelves, fireplace floors have proven.
In a further development of the invention, the absorber column according to the invention is in fluid communication with a plant for the catalytic synthesis of methanol from synthesis gas. Since with the absorber column according to the invention, the composition of the pure synthesis gas with respect to its content of carbon dioxide can be adjusted very precisely even at partial load operation of the column, it has particular advantages when connected to a downstream plant for catalytic methanol synthesis. In this way, even during operation of the system composite of absorber column and plant for catalytic methanol synthesis, the CO 2 concentration be modified in the methanol synthesis gas, for example, to react to the deactivation of the synthesis catalyst used.
The invention also relates to the use of the absorber column according to the invention for producing a pure synthesis gas comprising carbon dioxide from a crude synthesis gas. Preferably, this pure synthesis gas can be used as starting material in the synthesis of methanol. By using the absorber column according to the invention thus the required concentration of carbon dioxide in the methanol synthesis gas can be precisely adjusted. This also applies according to a preferred use at low load conditions of the absorber column, ie operating conditions with lower load of raw synthesis gas than in normal operation. It is also possible to use such a pure synthesis gas with defined content of carbon dioxide as starting material in other chemical syntheses, such as in the production of synthetic natural gas (SNG) or in the Fischer-Tropsch synthesis.
A preferred embodiment of the process according to the invention for producing a carbon dioxide-containing pure synthesis gas having a defined content of carbon dioxide from a crude synthesis gas is characterized in that the absorber column is in an operating state in which the mass flow of the crude synthesis gas is reduced compared to normal operation. In this operating state, because of the excess of the absorbent in relation to the now reduced gas load, the removal of carbon dioxide from the synthesis gas is too extensive, so that the required for the synthesis of methanol CO 2 concentration is exceeded. By feeding CO 2 -teilbeladenem, originating from the Flashregenerierung absorbent to the originating from the hot regeneration, largely CO 2 -free absorbent (mild detergent), the CO 2 concentration in the pure synthesis gas can be raised again to the required value. Thus, the required concentration of carbon dioxide in the methanol synthesis gas can be precisely adjusted.
A particularly preferred embodiment of the method according to the invention is characterized in that the absorber column is in an operating state, in that the mass flow of the raw synthesis gas is reduced compared to the normal operation so far that the absorber column is in the vicinity of the lower limit of its hydraulic working range. This is defined by the fact that it comes due to the low gas load to an undesirable transfer, a so-called rain, of absorbent from a soil to an underlying soil. In this operating state, the removal of carbon dioxide from the synthesis gas is still more extensive because of the large excess of the absorbent in relation to the gas load, which is even further reduced in comparison with the preceding embodiment, so that the CO 2 concentration required for the synthesis of methanol is greatly undershot. Again, the CO 2 concentration in the pure synthesis gas can be raised back to the required value by supplying inventive CO 2 -teilbeladenem, originating from the Flashregenerierung absorbent to the originating from the hot regeneration, largely CO 2 -free absorbent (mild detergent). Thus, the required concentration of carbon dioxide in the methanol synthesis gas can be precisely adjusted even in this case of operation.
A further particularly preferred embodiment of the process according to the invention is characterized in that the absorber column is in an operating state in which the mass flow of the crude synthesis gas is reduced to 70% or less, preferably 40% or less, compared to that in normal operation. A reduction in the mass flow of the raw synthesis gas to 40 or less results in an operating state of the absorber column, which experience has shown that it is located at the lower limit of its hydraulic working range. Therefore, the statements in the discussion of the previous embodiment of the method according to the invention apply. In addition, however, even at gas loads of 70% or less compared to normal operation of the absorber column, a significant reduction of the CO 2 concentration in the pure synthesis gas below to the required value observed, so that already here by the inventive supply of CO 2 teilbeladenem, from the Flashregenerierung originating absorbent to the originating from the hot regeneration, largely CO 2 -frelen absorbent (mild detergent), the CO 2 concentration in the pure synthesis gas can be raised again to the required value.
In a further aspect of the method according to the invention, the ratio of the mass flows of the regenerated absorbent flowing through the connecting line to that flowing through the first feeding line is between 5 and 60% by weight, preferably between 10 and 40% by weight. , Taking into account these conditions, it is ensured that the CO 2 concentration in the pure synthesis gas can be adjusted in the desired concentration ranges.
A further particular embodiment of the method according to the invention is characterized in that the ratio of the mass flows of the regenerated absorbent flowing through the connecting line to that flowing through the first feed line is adjusted so that the mole fraction of carbon dioxide in the methanol synthesis supplied , purified synthesis gas is at least 1 mol%, preferably at least 2 mol%. With appropriate adjustment of these mass flow ratios, it is ensured that the CO 2 concentration in the pure synthesis gas can be adjusted to the concentration ranges desired for the methanol synthesis.
Another particular embodiment of the method according to the invention is characterized in that the temperature of the regenerated by pressure absorption absorbent flowing through the connecting line before being introduced into the first feed line between - 70 ° C and - 10 ° C, preferably between - 60 ° C. and - 30 ° C. These temperatures are achieved by the adiabatic desorption at pressure release without additional cooling of the absorbent in cooling devices. The absorbent cooled in this way can be used directly in the absorber column and has favorable absorption properties.
The absorbent, which has been regenerated by pressure release, is preferably taken from a reabsorption device or a medium-pressure flash device, which is usually operated at 10 to 30 bar (a), preferably at 15 to 25 bar (a). Alternatively, the absorbent which has been regenerated by depressurization can also be taken from a low-pressure flash device, which is usually preferred at 1 to 3 bar (a) at 1 to 2 bar (a) is operated. The pressure release is often carried out in several stages in several separate device, wherein the discharged from the medium pressure flash device after pressure release absorbent has a residual carbon dioxide loading, which makes it suitable for use in the invention. The same applies to the absorbent obtained from a reabsorption device. This represents, for example, in the selective rectisol process, a device part downstream of the stripping device and serves for the reabsorption of the undesired stripped sulfur compounds.
In a particularly preferred embodiment of the process according to the invention, the absorbent contains one or more components selected from the following group: methanol, N-methylpyrrolidone (NMP), secondary amines, preferably diethanolamine, tertiary amines, preferably methyldiethanolamine, polyethylene glycol dialkyl ethers, preferably polyethylene glycol dimethyl ether. All of these absorbents serve to absorb carbon dioxide and sulfur compounds and can be regenerated by means of pressure release or hot regeneration.

The raw synthesis gas introduced into the absorber column flows upwards in this case and passes through a plurality of

It is also possible to divide the described absorber column between the mass transfer zones AB and DE into two individual columns, of which the column of CO 2 absorption comprising the mass transfer zones AB and the column of H 2 S absorption comprising the mass transfer zones DE. Such a split column should also be understood as an absorber column in the sense of the present invention.
The portion of the methanol which was discharged from the separating tray of the mass transfer zone C via
The bottom product of the absorber column, that is, the methanol stream charged with sulfur components, is discharged from the absorber column via
The inventively provided
The adjustment of the flow ratio of the regenerated methanol flowing through the
With appropriate adjustment of these mass flow ratios, it is ensured that the CO 2 concentration in the pure synthesis gas can be adjusted in the desired concentration ranges and that the resulting pure synthesis gas is suitable for use in methanol synthesis.
The temperature of the flash regenerated methanol flowing through the
