Description

The invention relates to a method and a device for producing an upholstery product. The invention also relates to an upholstery product as such. The upholstery product is made from a flat, elongated and, in particular, two-ply or multi-ply paper strip.

From the EP 1 539 474 B1 an upholstery product is known which is crumpled from a two-ply paper tube. There is also a device from the named document and a method is known with which the upholstery product disclosed there is crumpled from the elongated paper tube.

A generic method, a generic device and a generic upholstery product is from the DE 10 2012 222 805 B3 known.

From the US 8.34 8,818 B2 as well as the DE 694 00 576 T2 upholstery products and processes for their production are known, each of which is made from a single-layer paper strip.

The present invention is based, inter alia, on the object of a particular DE 10 2012 222 805 B3 known method of further developing a device disclosed there and an upholstery product disclosed there.

From the US 2008 002 0 184 an upholstery product and the method for its production are known which arrange and fix strips on top of one another.

In the U.S. 5,938,580 a system is disclosed which folds the edges of paper strips to the center.

From the US 2009 008 2 187 a system and method for the production of upholstery product is known which produces multi-layer paper strips by means of different angular speeds of the roller drives. This object is achieved by a method with the features of claim 1.

The method according to the invention is consequently characterized in that, prior to crumpling, the two-layer or multi-layer, adjacent and already opened edge areas are turned over towards the middle area. The paper strip can preferably be crumpled in the middle area in such a way that the folded edge areas are also crumpled up. The fact that the edge areas are also turned over and preferably also crumpled up results in an upholstery product with a comparatively high density, whereby the upholstery product is also well suited for upholstering heavier objects. Such an upholstery product then advantageously does not have any freely radially outwardly protruding edge areas, since these are turned over before being crumpled.

According to the method according to the invention, an elongated paper strip is consequently provided. The paper strip has a central area extending in the longitudinal direction as well as two-layer or multi-layer adjacent edge areas that are not connected to one another.

It is conceivable that the paper strip has two or more layers and that the individual layers are connected to one another in the central area, for example in a form-fitting or material fit. In particular, gluing the individual layers in the central area has proven to be preferred. The adhesive connection can preferably run along a line that extends in the longitudinal direction. The adhesive connection can only be in sections, for example at points. However, the adhesive connection can also be provided along a closed line. Instead of or in addition to gluing, it is also possible to emboss the individual layers with one another.

The paper strip does not have to be formed from layers lying on top of one another; Other configurations are also conceivable, such as, for example, two already folded paper strips which are connected to one another along their two folded edges and this connected area forming the central area according to the invention. Here, too, the connection can be form-fitting or cohesive. The folded edges can be connected before opening and turning over. However, it is also conceivable that the flat folded paper strips are first opened and their edge areas are turned over. In a next step, the opened and folded paper strips are then connected to one another along their folded edges, with the folded edges connected to one another then forming the central area, along which it is then crumpled.

The method steps in claim 1 therefore do not specify any mandatory chronological order; The only decisive factor is that before crumpling along the middle area, the edge areas are turned over to the middle area or to the folded edges in the case of folded and not yet connected paper strips.

In the initial state of the paper strip, which can be pressed flat and, in particular, flat, adjacent edge areas preferably rest against one another. In the case of a two-ply paper strip, the middle region of which is connected, there are then preferably four edge regions, two edge regions then in each case resting against one another in the flat state. However, three or more layers can also be provided. Then three or more edge regions are provided adjacent to each other in the flat state. A paper strip, which in particular has two layers, is comparatively easy to provide.

It is conceivable that the individual layers are only connected to one another in the middle area when the paper strip is provided, or that the individual layers in the middle area are connected to one another before the paper strip is provided, i.e. in a preceding operation that can also take place at a different location will.

According to the further method step of the invention, the adjacent, in particular adjacent Edge areas turned into a paper strip with a star-like cross section. For this purpose, the paper strip is preferably moved over one or more impact cores. In the case of a two-ply paper strip, a star-like paper strip is then created with a total of four "rays" protruding in the radial direction, these still being connected in the middle, central area. If three layers are provided, a "star" with six "rays" is created; if more layers are provided, a "star" with correspondingly more "rays".

The respective adjacent beams preferably enclose an angle in the range from 60 ° to 120 ° and preferably in the range from 70 ° to 100 ° and more preferably in the range from 85 ° to 95 °.

At the same time as the impact, or also afterwards, the edge areas are turned over to the middle area. The edge areas can be turned upwards, downwards or in such a way that one edge area is turned around the respectively adjacent other edge area.

Then the paper strip is crumpled at least along the central area, preferably together with the edge areas. The crumpling takes place in the longitudinal direction at least along the middle area in such a way that advantageously sections of the middle area are moved or pushed together with the edge areas towards one another, so that the length of the The paper strip in the crumpled state, i.e. the upholstery product, is shorter than the paper strip in the non-crumpled state. This also results in greater resilience in the longitudinal direction of the crumpled paper strip compared to the non-crumpled paper strip. According to the invention, it is not absolutely necessary that the folded edge areas are also crumpled up. An upholstery product in which the edge areas are turned over, whereby these are not also crumpled up, likewise has favorable properties. However, it has proven advantageous to fold over the edge areas in such a way and to provide the crumpling in such a way that the turned over edge areas are also crumpled up. This results in a comparatively stable and compactly crumpled upholstery product.

It is advantageous if the edge areas are turned over to the central area in a turn-over module. The envelope module can include envelope means such as envelope surfaces, envelope edges or envelope wires. Opening can also take place in the handling module before or at the same time as handling. The envelope means can then be designed identically to the impact means.

The envelope module is advantageously followed by a crumpling module in which the folded paper strip is crumpled. The crumpling module and / or the envelope module are advantageously an independent assembly educated. This has the advantage that, although identical crumple modules but different envelope modules can be used for different paper strips, in particular for paper strips of different widths. For example, it is conceivable that a manufacturer of the upholstery products stores different cover modules for paper strips of different widths, and that an associated cover module is used depending on the paper strip to be used. The cover modules are designed in such a way that the folded paper strips each have the same width, so that this folded paper strip can be fed to the crumple module. One and the same crumple module can consequently be combined with different crumple modules and thus be used for different starting paper strips.

As such, the crumpling is advantageously carried out by means of a first set of drive rollers and a second set of drive rollers, the second set of drive rollers rotating at an angular speed which is less than the angular speed of the first set of drive rollers.

It is advantageous if the angular speed of at least one of the sets of drive rollers for setting the crumple density is adjustable. As a result, different speeds can be used to produce upholstery products that are crumpled to different degrees and thus with different densities. The first set of drive rollers turns comparatively quickly and the second set of drive rollers comparatively slowly, then there is a comparatively strong build-up and compression of the upholstery product during crumpling. This results in a very dense upholstery product. If less dense upholstery products are to be produced, the angular speed, in particular of the second set of drive rollers, can be increased. Such a method can be used both with paper strips, the edge areas of which are not turned over towards the middle area, and with paper strips, in which the edge areas are turned over and preferably also crumpled up.

For the respective setting of an intended length of the upholstery product, it is advantageous if the upholstery product is separated into two areas by braking or stopping the first set of drive rollers while the second set of drive rollers continues to be driven. The two areas are advantageously separated from one another by tearing them apart. In this context, it is advantageous if the paper strip has intended separation points running transversely to the longitudinal direction, in particular in the form of perforations. Of course, it is also conceivable that severing can take place by cutting, in particular by means of a cutting device.

The addressed object is also achieved by an apparatus for producing an upholstery product, in particular for carrying out the method according to the invention, according to the Features of claim 5 solved. The device is distinguished in particular by the fact that a turning mechanism is provided for turning over the edge areas towards the central area and that the crumpling mechanism is preferably set up in such a way that the edge areas that are turned over are also crumpled up. With such a device, an upholstery product can be produced, which compared to the upholstery product in the DE 10 2012 222 805 B3 discloses it, has a greater density and is therefore suitable for upholstering heavier objects.

It is advantageous if an envelope module, in which the envelope mechanism is arranged, and a crumple module, in which the crumple mechanism is arranged, are provided, the envelope module being exchangeable for another envelope module when using paper strips of different widths. This has the advantage that for different paper strips, in particular for paper strips of different widths, identical crumple modules can be used but different envelope modules.

It is advantageous if the crumpling mechanism is formed by a second set of drive rollers interacting with the first set of drive rollers in such a way that the second set of drive rollers can be rotated at an angular speed that is lower than that
Angular speed at which the first set of drive rollers is rotatable, a control unit for Adjustment of the angular speed of at least one of the sets of drive rollers is provided so that the crumple density can be adjusted with the control unit.

The object mentioned at the beginning is also achieved by an upholstery product which is produced in particular using a method according to the invention and / or which is produced in particular using a device according to the invention. Such an upholstery product in the completely manufactured state has an elongated paper strip with a longitudinally extending central region and with two or more layered edge regions that are not connected to one another, the adjacent edge regions being turned up like a star and turned over towards the central region. The paper strip is crumpled along the middle area and preferably also along the folded edge areas. A flat, elongated paper strip, which has a central region extending in the longitudinal direction and two or more layers of adjacent edge regions that are not connected to one another, can be used as the starting material for such an upholstery product. However, it is also conceivable that two or more folded paper strips, for example, can be used as the starting material, which have an inner area, which has the respective folded edge, and an outer area with the two-layer or multi-layer edge areas. To produce the upholstery product according to the invention, the outer area or its multilayered area can then first be used Edge areas that are opened - so that a strip of paper with a star-shaped cross section is created - and then turned over. Only after opening and turning over can the inner areas, which have the folded edges, be connected to one another by two paper strips to form the middle area, which is then crumpled in a next step.

Further advantages and advantageous configurations of the invention can be found in the following description, on the basis of which an exemplary embodiment of the invention is described and explained in more detail.

The one in the Figures 1 and 2 The paper strip 10 shown has two layers 12 and 14. The two layers 12, 14 lie on top of one another and have identical outer contours. They have an elongated format, their central longitudinal axis being identified by the reference number 16. The paper strip 10 can be an "endless" long paper strip which can be unrolled from a roll or removed from a stack, for example.

The two layers 12, 14 are in their middle area 18, which in the in Figures 1 and 2 illustrated paper strip runs along the central longitudinal axis 16, connected to one another. The two layers 12, 14 are preferably materially bonded along the central longitudinal axis 16, in particular by gluing or interlocking, in particular by embossing.

The two layers 12, 14 also have edge regions 20, 21 and 22, 23 that are not connected to one another. The layer 12 thus has the two edge regions 20, 21. The layer 14 has the two edge regions 22, 23. The edge area 20 of the layer 12 is arranged adjacent to the edge area 22 of the layer 14. The edge area 21 of the layer 12 is also arranged adjacent to the edge area 23 of the layer 14. In the in Figures 1 and 2 The flat state shown in the flat state of the paper strip 10, the edge regions 20 and 22 and the edge regions 21 and 23 can touch one another. These edge areas 20, 21, 22, 23 are then opened, as described further below.

Like in particular from Figure 2 It becomes clear that the paper strip 10 has intended separation regions 24 running transversely to the longitudinal axis 16, which are designed as perforations provided in the layers 20 and 22. In this way, the paper strip 10 can be separated into two areas along a predetermined separation point 24 by tearing it in the longitudinal direction.

In the Figure 3 a further paper strip 10 is shown, which is suitable for use in a method according to the invention or for producing an upholstery product according to the invention. This paper strip 10 consists of two webs 100, 102, which are each folded along a fold line 104. The fold lines 104 are facing each other. The two webs 100, 102 are connected to one another in the area of the fold lines 104, for example by gluing or embossing, so that the middle area 18 is formed there.

In the Figure 4 a device 110 according to the invention for producing an upholstery product 126, 128, 130 is shown schematically. The device 110 essentially comprises 3 modules. An input 112 is initially followed by an impact module 114. In the impact module 114, the flat paper strip 10 is first opened, for example via impact cores 58 as they are from FIG DE 10 2012 222 805 B3 are known. After opening or after leaving the opening module 114, the paper strip 10 is opened in a star-like manner to form a paper strip 10 '. Such a paper strip 10 'is in Figure 5 shown in cross section. In the Figure 5 the angles α between the adjacent edge regions 20, 22 and 21, 23 are approximately 90 °. It is of course conceivable that the angles α are significantly smaller and lie in the range from 45 ° to 70 °, or even less.

The opened paper strip 10 'is fed to an envelope module 116 in which the edge regions 20, 22 and 21, 23 at in Figure 5 envelope areas 118 shown are turned over. The opened paper strip 10 'is consequently in the envelope module 116 in the in Figure 6 The opened and folded paper strips 10 ″ shown in cross section are deformed. In Figure 6 a turning in the turning areas 118 is shown at an acute angle; In practice, turning over takes place regularly over rounded edges, so that the areas 118 do not have to taper to a point, but can also be rounded.

The paper strip 10 ″ will then be made from Figure 4 becomes clear, a crumple module 120 is fed. In the crumpling module 120, the paper strip 10 ″ is crumpled in the middle area 18, the folded edge areas 21, 23 and 20, 22 also being crumpled up.

The crumpling module 120 comprises a first set of drive rollers 74, 76 and a set of drive rollers 82, 84 downstream of these drive rollers 74, 76. The first set of drive rollers is preferably driven by a first electric motor. The roller 74 can be acted upon against the roller 76, for example, with a slight bias, so that the roller 76, which is driven by the electric motor, is also driven. As mentioned, the middle region 18 of the paper strip 10 is located between the rollers 74 and 76. Corresponding to the first set of drive rollers 74, 76, the lower roller 84 of the second set of drive rollers 82, 84 can also be driven by an electric motor. The upper roller 82 is separated from the lower roller 84 under pretension, so that it rotates with the roller 84 when it rotates. The rollers 74, 76 and 82, 84 have a width b.

The angular speed of the rollers 82, 84 of the second drive set can be selected so that it is slightly is less than the angular velocity of the drive rollers 74, 76 of the first set. This causes the paper strip 10 ″ to crumple in the central region 18 in a crumple zone, the crumple zone lying between the two sets of rolls 74, 76 and 82, 84. The paper strip 10 ″ consequently leaves the device 110 in the machine exit 124 as a cushioning product 126, as shown in FIGS Figures 7 and 8 is shown, which is opened like a star, turned over and crumpled in the middle area. The width b of the central area crumpled by the rollers, which is shown in Figures 7 and 8 is recognizable, can be reduced to a very small extent or to a line.

To control the electric motors and thus the rollers 74, 76 and 82, 84 in Figure 4 a control unit 122 is provided. The angular speed of the first set of drive rollers 74, 76 and the angular speed of the second set of drive rollers 82, 84 can preferably be set independently of one another via the control unit 122. The greater the difference in angular velocities, the more the crumple will be. Consequently, the crumpling density of the upholstery product 126 to be produced can be set via the control unit 122.

Details of the type and function of the drive rollers are referred to DE 10 2012 222 805 B3 referenced, which however does not have an envelope mechanism or an envelope module.

In order to separate the endlessly long paper strip 10 into different areas, it is advantageous if the first set of drive rollers 74, 76 is braked, the second set of drive rollers 82, 84 being driven further so that tearing along an in Figures 1 and 2 Setpoint separation area 24 shown takes place. A cushioning product 126 separated in this way then leaves the device 110 through an outlet 124.

According to the invention, the impact module 114 and the envelope module 116 can also be implemented in a common module. The opening and turning over can take place immediately one after the other or, alternatively, largely at the same time.

The envelope module 116 is preferably arranged exchangeably in the device 110. This has the advantage that different envelope modules can be used for different paper strips. In particular when paper strips 10 with different widths are to be processed. The folding is then carried out in such a way that the folded paper strip 10 ″ always has the same external dimensions and can therefore always be processed by the same crumpling module 120.

For moving and conveying the paper strip 10 in the device 50, the rollers 74, 76 and 82, 84 can be used. On the other hand, it is also conceivable that a separate feed mechanism for conveying the paper strip 10 is provided by device 110; for example in the form of further conveyor rollers.

As described, such a cushioning product 126 can be produced in a simple manner, and it also has favorable cushioning properties.

In the Figures 8 and 9 a crumpled paper strip 10 '''produced with the device 110, that is to say the finished upholstery product 126, is shown. The crumpled central area 18 with the crumpled width b and with the crumpled edge areas 21, 23 and 20, 22, which do not protrude star-like, but are turned over towards the central area 18, can be clearly seen.

Although a paper strip 10 is shown in the figures, which has only two layers, it is conceivable that a paper strip is also used which has three or more layers. The three or more layers are then connected to one another in the central region 18, or preferably in the region of the central longitudinal axis 16. Instead of two opposing impact cores 58, a total of four or more impact cores are then advantageously used, which engage in the spaces between the respective adjacent edge regions of the respective layers. The edge areas are then turned over accordingly for the respective number of edge areas.

Das Knüllen erfolgte im mittleren Bereich 18.In the Figures 9 and 10 two further upholstery products 128, 130 are shown. In the case of the upholstery product 128 according to Figure 9 the edge region 23 was folded down and the edge region 22 turned around the edge region 23 upwards. Correspondingly, the edge area 21 was folded down and the edge area 20 turned up around the edge area 21. The crumpling occurred in the middle area 18.

In the case of the upholstery product 130 according to Figure 10 the edge areas 21 and 22 were first folded over and then the edge areas 20 and 23 were folded around the edge areas 21, 22 before the crumpling in the middle area 18 took place.

In the case of the upholstery product 130 according to Figure 10 the edge areas 21 and 22 were first folded over and then the edge areas 20 and 23 were folded around the edge areas 21, 22 before the crumpling in the middle area 18 took place.
