Description

  • The present invention relates to a multifunctional table.
  • Tables are currently known the resting surface of which can be raised or lowered.
  • For this purpose, Italian Patent No. 1,305,725 is known which discloses an apparatus for supporting a surface that is adjustable in height, particularly for tables and other surfaces to be supported and tables or surfaces thus equipped of the type provided by means of two mutually opposite stems for supporting the surface, which are crossed in an X-like arrangement and the lower ends of which constitute the base as ground resting feet and the upper ends of which slide in opposition to a pair of mutually opposite parallel guides, below the surface, and in which said two stems are controlled in their mutual inclination for respective opening/closure by virtue of spring-loaded means for contrasting the weight of the structure.
  • In this solution, the two stems crossed in an X-like arrangement are controlled in an upper region in their variation of inclination, opening and closure by controlling the respective distance of their upper ends for sliding in said guides, with respect to a central fixed position of the undersurface frame, where a rotating central arm or cam is rotationally pivoted and forms a joint with a substantially Z-shaped mutually opposite articulated double arm, in which the inclined portion constitutes said central arm or cam and the bases form the mutually opposite articulated arms.
  • The articulation is provided with four joints, respectively:
    • two at the end of the Z-shape which are pivoted to the top of said stems crossed in an X-like arrangement;
    • two intermediate ones at the elbows of said Z-shape.
  • The rotational pivot is arranged in the central arm, in a central fulcrum thereof that corresponds to the inclined portion of the Z-shape that joins said two end arms, while the rotation of the central arm is controlled by the spring means.
  • Sofas are also known which comprise means adapted to allow the movement of the armrests and/or seats and/or back in order to allow to assume either a sofa-like configuration or a bed-like configuration.
  • These different configurations that can be assumed by tables or sofas are sought in order to optimize in the best manner the increasingly smaller spaces of current dwellings.
  • Other uses or arrangements that can be assumed by said tables or sofas are not known.
  • The aim of the present invention is therefore to provide a device that allows, by containing space occupations, to benefit rapidly and easily from other types of use that are different from those according to the background art.
  • Within this aim, an object of the invention is to obtain a device that is structurally simple, simple to activate, can be resized to compact dimensions, allows to achieve a good aesthetic result, has modest manufacturing costs, and can be provided with ordinary known systems.
  • This aim and this object, as well as others that will become better apparent hereinafter, are achieved by a multifunctional table, comprising a box-like body associated with a first frame with which a first collapsible half-top is rotatably associated, a second frame being slidingly associated with said first frame and being provided with a bedspring or with a plurality of slats, with which a second collapsible half-top is rotatably associated, characterised in that it comprises a pair of first and second legs being pivoted in a lower region to said first frame, being crossed in an X-like arrangement and cooperating with means adapted to lift said first frame, two first and second pairs of feet that are collapsible downward being rotatably associated with said first and second frames, a mattress collapsible in an accordion-like fashion being arrangeable on said plurality of slats or on the bedspring.
  • Further characteristics and advantages of the invention as defined by the appended claims will become better apparent from the detailed description of a particular but not exclusive embodiment thereof, illustrated by way of nonlimiting example in the accompanying drawings, wherein:
    • Figures 1 and 2 are side perspective views respectively of a table according to the invention in a lowered condition and in a raised condition;
    • Figures 3 and 4 are top views of the table, respectively in a closed condition and in a partially open condition;
    • Figure 5 is a side perspective view of the table in a fully open condition;
    • Figure 6 and Figure 7 are partially sectional views of a detail of Figure 5;
    • Figure 8 is a view of a detail of Figure 5;
    • Figures 9, 10 and 11 are side perspective views of the mattress, respectively in the closed, partially open and fully open condition.
  • In the exemplary embodiments that follow, individual characteristics, given in relation to specific examples, may actually be interchanged with other different characteristics that exist in other exemplary embodiments.
  • Moreover, it is noted that anything found to be already known during the patenting process is understood not to be claimed and to be the subject of a disclaimer.
  • With reference to the figures, the reference numeral 1 designates a multifunctional table which comprises a box-like body 2 that has a substantially parallelepiped shape with which a first frame 3 is associated in a lower region.
  • The first frame 3 is substantially shaped like a parallelepiped and is constituted by a pair of uprights 4a, 4b, which are mutually parallel, and by a pair of mutually parallel first crossmembers 5a, 5b, which have a polygonal, preferably rectangular shape in cross-section.
  • The first frame 3 is associated rotatably with a first half-top 6, which is L-shaped in a transverse cross-section and is therefore constituted by a first larger wing 7a and by a second smaller wing 7b.
  • The first half-top 6 in the closed condition is arranged, with the first wing 7a, above the first frame 3 so as to cover it partially.
  • The first half-top 6 is collapsible with respect to the first frame 3 by means of a pair of first brackets 8 which are associated in a lower region with the lateral ends of the first crossmember 5a, as shown in the present embodiment, or as an alternative of the first uprights 4a, 4b.
  • Each first bracket 8 is C-shaped, so as to form a first flap 9a, which is connected stably to the first wing 7b of the first half-top 6, a second flap 9b to the end of which a first pivot 10 is coupled which is associated rotatably between a pair of bars 11a, 11b, which are mutually parallel and protrude at right angles from the first crossmember 5a in the direction of the first crossmember 5b.
  • The first and second flaps 9a, 9b are blended by a first flat base 9c from which a first stop element 12 protrudes on the opposite side with respect to the first and second flaps 9a, 9b, the function of said first stop element being to block on the first uprights 4a, 4b or as an alternative on the first crossmember 5a, the rotation of the first half-top 6 in the condition in which the first wing 7a arranges itself substantially at right angles to the first frame 3.
  • Said first frame can thus assume a position in which the first wing 7a is arranged horizontally above the first frame 3, which corresponds to the condition in which the table is closed, and a position in which the first wing 7a is, as a consequence of a counterclockwise rotation, arranged approximately at right angles to the first frame 3 so as to form a headboard for the condition in which a bed 13 is obtained.
  • A second frame 14 is associated slidingly with the first uprights 4a, 4b of the first frame 3 and is constituted by a pair of second mutually parallel uprights 15a, 15b, and by a second crossmember 16, which is arranged at right angles to the second uprights 15a, 15b and at their ends directed in the opposite direction with respect to the first crossmember 5a of the first frame 3.
  • The pair of second uprights 15a, 15b and the second crossmember 16 are assembled so as to form, for the second frame 14, a C-like shape which is open at one end.
  • The second frame 14 is associated slidingly with the first frame 3 by means of a pair of telescopic guides 17a, 17b which have a substantially I-shaped cross-section and the first tabs 18a, 18b of which, directed toward the first uprights 4a, 4b, engage slidingly with adapted first wheels 19 which are associated rotatably with the first uprights 4a, 4b.
  • The pair of guides 17a, 17b has a pair of second tabs 20a, 20b which are directed toward the second uprights 15a, 15b, which engage adapted second wheels 21 associated rotatably with the adjacent second uprights 15a, 15b.
  • The second uprights 15a, 15b can thus be made to slide, together with the guides 17a, 17b, in order to arrange themselves so as to be positioned beyond the ends 22a, 22b, which lie opposite the first crossmember 5a, of the respective first upright 4a, 4b.
  • Optionally there can be adapted stop elements to block the position of the second frame 14 with respect to the first frame 3 once it has been extracted completely.
  • In this manner the second frame 14 can be arranged as an extension of the first frame 3 so as to form a continuous resting surface for the bed 13 that will be obtained.
  • A plurality of slats 23 or a bedspring is associated transversely to the second uprights 15a, 15b of the second frame 14.
  • A second half-top 24 is rotatably associated with the second crossmember 16 of the second frame 14 and has an L-shaped transverse cross-section so as to form a third larger wing 25a and a fourth smaller wing 25b.
  • The second half-top 24 in the closed condition is arranged, with the third wing 25a, above the second frame 14 so as to cover it entirely.
  • The second half-top 24 is collapsible with respect to the second frame 14 by means of a pair of second brackets 26 which are associated below the lateral ends of the second crossmember 16, as shown in the present embodiment, or as an alternative of the second uprights 15a, 15b.
  • Each second bracket 26 is C-shaped so as to form a third flap 27a, which is connected stably to the fourth wing 25b of the second half-top 24, and a fourth flap 27b, to the end of which a second pivot 28 is coupled which is associated rotatably between a pair of second bars, which are mutually parallel and protrude at right angles from the second crossmember 16 in the direction of the first crossmember 5b.
  • The third and fourth flaps 27a, 27b are blended by a second flat base 27c from which a second stop element 30 protrudes at right angles on the opposite side with respect to the third and fourth wings 27a, 27b, the function of said stop element being to block, on the second uprights 15a, 15b, or as an alternative on the second crossmember 16, the rotation of the second half-top 24 in the condition in which the third wing 25a arranges itself substantially at right angles to the second frame 14.
  • Said second frame can thus assume a position, which corresponds to the condition in which the table is closed, in which the third wing 25a is arranged horizontally above the second frame 3, and a position in which said third wing 25a, as a consequence of a counterclockwise rotation, is arranged approximately at right angles to the second frame 14 so as to form a footboard for the condition in which a bed 13 is obtained.
  • A pair of first and second legs 31a, 31b, 32a, 32b, which are substantially crossed in an X-like arrangement, are pivoted in a lower region to the first frame 3 and cooperate with means 33 adapted to lift the first box-like body 2.
  • The means 33 are of a known type, such as for example the ones disclosed in Italian Patent No. 1,305,725 .
  • A bar 35 is arranged stably at the first pivoting point 34a of the pair of first legs 31a, 31b and at the second pivoting point 34b of the pair of second legs 32a, 32b.
  • Two first and second pairs of feet 36a, 36b, 37a, 37b are associated rotatably with each one of the first and second frames 3, 14 and are collapsible downward, one end thereof being associated rotatably, by means of two pairs of first and second pivots 38, 39, proximate to the opposite lateral ends of the first and second uprights 4a, 4b, 15a, 15b.
  • It is possible to arrange on the plurality of said slats 23 or on said bedspring a mattress 40 composed of a plurality of individual parts 41 that are collapsible in an accordion-like fashion, so as to obtain an overlap of the plurality of parts 41 in order to obtain a seat or beanbag 42 to be arranged laterally adjacent to the multifunctional table 1 in the closed configuration.
  • The dimensions of the first and second half- tops 6, 24, together with those of the first and second uprights 4a, 4b, 15a, 15b and of the guides 17a, 17b, are such that the table 1, in the closed condition shown in Figures 1, 2 and 3, has a resting surface that has small dimensions.
  • In the condition in which the table is open, shown in Figures 4 and 5, a structural configuration is instead obtained which forms a bed 13 in which a continuous surface for the placement of a mattress 40 is obtained.
  • In practice it has been found that the invention has achieved the intended aim and objects, a multifunctional table 1 having been obtained which allows, by containing space occupations, to benefit rapidly and easily from other types of use that are different from those according to the background art.
  • In particular, when the first and second half- tops 6, 24 assume a position in which the first and third wings 7a, 25a are arranged horizontally above the first and second frames 3, 14, the device is in the closed condition in which a table 1 is obtained.
  • When instead the second frame 14 arranges itself as an extension of the first frame 3, by sliding the second uprights 15a, 15b together with the guides 17a, 17b so as to form a continuous resting surface, the device is in the open condition in which the bed 13 is obtained; in this condition the first and third wings 7a, 25a respectively of the first and second half- tops 6, 24 are, as a consequence of a counterclockwise rotation, arranged parallel to each other and approximately at right angles to the first and second frames 3, 14 so as to form a headboard and a footboard for the condition in which a bed 13 is obtained.
  • Furthermore, it has been found that the device according to the invention is structurally simple, is simple to activate and can be resized to compact dimensions, thus meeting the growing need to optimize in the best manner the increasingly smaller spaces of modern dwellings.
  • Finally, it has been found that the device according to the invention allows to achieve a good aesthetic result, modest manufacturing costs, and can be manufactured with ordinary known systems.
  • The materials used, as well as the dimensions that constitute the individual components of the invention as defined by the appended claims, may of course be more pertinent according to the specific requirements.
  • Where technical features mentioned in any claim are followed by reference signs, those reference signs have been included for the sole purpose of increasing the intelligibility of the claims and accordingly such reference signs do not have any limiting effect on the interpretation of each element identified by way of example by such reference signs.
