Um die umlaufende Kante z.B. zu bedrucken oder zu markieren, ist es notwendig, dass der tragbare Datenträger so bewegt wird, dass z.B. mittels eines Druck- oder Laserverfahrens die Kante bearbeitet werden kann. Dies ist sehr aufwändig und stellt einen Nachteil des Stands der Technik dar, welcher durch die vorliegende Erfindung überwunden wird. Der erfindungsgemäße Datenträger 12 weist in seinem Inneren zwei weisse Folien 14 auf. Auf einer Oberseite der oberen weissen Folie 14 ist eine erste Overlayfolie 16 angeordnet. Auf einer Unterseite der unteren weissen Folie 14 ist eine zweite Overlayfolie 18 angeordnet. Die geometrische Form der Kante 24 ist in einer gestrichelten Linie dargestellt. Die geometrische Form der Kante 24 kann während und/oder nach der Herstellung des tragbaren Datenträgers 12 ausgebildet werden. Dazu eignen sich beispielsweise mechanische Verfahren, z.B. ein Fräsverfahren, oder ein Laserverfahren oder jedes andere geeignete Verfahren, um die geometrische Form der Kante 24 zu erzeugen. Die Kante 24 kann z.B. bedruckt werden, um einen farbigen Rand des tragbaren Datenträgers zu erzeugen. Als weitere Alternative kann die Kante 24 z.B. mittels eines Lasers markiert oder personalisiert werden, um z.B. benutzerspezifische Daten auf die Kante 24 des tragbaren Datenträgers 12 zu schreiben. Der erfindungswesentliche Effekt ist, dass durch die geometrische Form der Kante 24 sowohl mindestens eine Außenseite 26, 28 als auch die Kante 24 selbst z.B. bedruckt und/oder mittels eines Lasers markiert werden können, ohne dass die räumliche Lage des tragbaren Datenträgers verändert werden muss. Figur 2 zeigt, wie sich die Kante 24 über die gesamte Höhe des tragbaren Datenträgers 12 und alle Folien des Datenträgers 12 erstreckt und Figur 3 zeigt, wie sich die Kante 24 nur über einen Teil der Folien bzw. der Höhe des Datenträgers 12 erstreckt. Es sind alle anderen geeigneten geometrischen Formen für die Kante 24 ebenfalls möglich. Claims (5)

  1. A method for changing a geometry of an edge (24) of a portable, card-shaped data carrier (12) and for its processing, wherein the data carrier has a first outer side (26) and a second outer side (28), wherein the geometry of the edge (24) is changed, characterized in that the geometrically changed edge (24) and an outer side (26, 28) of the data carrier (12) are processed from a common side, without changing a location in space of the data carrier (12).
  2. The method according to claim 1, characterized in that the edge (24) is processed by imprinting the edge (24) by means of a printing method.
  3. The method according to claim 1 or 2, characterized in that the edge (24) is processed by marking the edge (24) by means of a laser process.
  4. The method according to any of the preceding claims 1 to 3, characterized in that the geometry of the edge (24) is changed such that it is diagonal and/or circular with respect to the outer side (26, 28) of the data carrier (12).
  5. The method according to any of the preceding claims 1 to 4, characterized in that a data carrier (12) is employed which in its interior has at least one white foil (14) and an overlay foil (16,18) as an outermost foil.
