Description

    TECHNICAL FIELD
  • The present invention relates to a continuous cutting apparatus for cutting a material, in particular a paper material, which is fed in form of sheet or roll.
  • In particular, the present invention is advantageously, but not exclusively, applied to the cutting of a plurality of angular reinforcements for boxes from a continuous paper roll; said boxes are normally used for storing and transporting fruit and vegetable products.
  • BACKGROUND ART
  • Apparatuses for continuously cutting sheets or a roll according to preset steps are known, so as to obtain blanks having predetermined lengths dictated by the intended use thereof.
  • It is obvious that by increasing the sheet (or roll) feeding speed and/or cutting speed, blanks having different lengths can be obtained even when starting with the same initial material.
  • In industrial practice, it has been found that as the number of blows/minute of the cutting apparatus increases, that is in the end as the number of cuts increases, the risk of jamming increases accordingly, due to the fact that the cutting blade did not have the time to quickly disengage from one cut to be ready for the next cut.
  • WO-A2-2012/085866 , according to the preamble portion of claim 1, describes a continuous cutting apparatus for cutting a material, in particular a paper material, which is fed in form of sheet or roll. The apparatus comprises a support frame and an alternate cutting assembly for cutting the sheet or roll being fed. The alternate cutting assembly comprises a guillotine cutting device of the swinging type, which accompanies the paper material to be cut along a tract of its path with a speed that is equal to the feeding speed of the sheet or roll during its movement through the cutting apparatus itself.
  • DISCLOSURE OF INVENTION
  • Therefore, according to the invention, a guillotine cutting device of the swinging type has been devised, which accompanies the paper material to be cut along a tract of its path with a speed that is equal to the sheet (or roll) feeding speed during the movement thereof through the apparatus itself in order to obviate the aforesaid drawbacks.
  • Therefore, according to the present invention, a continuous cutting apparatus for cutting a material is provided as claimed in claim 1 or in any one of the claims directly or indirectly depending on claim 1.
  • BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
  • For a better understanding of the present invention, a preferred embodiment thereof is now described, by way of a mere non-limiting example and with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which:
    • figure 1 shows a front view of a continuous cutting apparatus for cutting a paper roll according to the dictates of the present invention;
    • figure 2 shows an plan of the apparatus in figure 1;
    • figure 3 shows a first side view of the apparatus shown in figures 1, 2;
    • figure 4 shows a second side view of the apparatus shown in figures 1, 2;
    • figure 5 shows a SEC. A-A of the front view in figure 1;
    • figure 6 shows a SEC. B-B of the front view in figure 1;
    • figure 7 shows a SEC. C-C of the front view in figure 1;
    • figure 8 shows a blank obtained from a sheet, or roll, by means of two parallel straight cuts; and
    • figure 9 shows a blank obtained from a sheet, or roll, by means of two parallel shaped straight cuts.
    BEST MODE FOR CARRYING OUT THE INVENTION
  • In the accompanying figures, numeral 10 indicates, as a whole, a continuous cutting apparatus for cutting a material, in particular a paper material, which is fed in form of sheets (or roll), provided according to the teachings of the present invention.
  • The cutting apparatus 10 comprises a support frame 20, which can be substantially ascribed to the assembly of a vertical plate 21 fastened to a horizontal plate 22.
  • The cutting apparatus 10 further comprises a carriage assembly 30 which is adapted to slide on a pair of tracks 31, 32 according to a horizontal direction in two ways identified by a double-headed arrow (F1) (figure 1).
  • The carriage assembly 30 is pushed/pulled by a moving mechanism 40, a portion of which is integral with the aforesaid vertical plate 21, as will be seen.
  • In particular, the moving mechanism 40 comprises a first electric motor assembly 41 fastened to an outer face 21A (figure 4) of the vertical plate 21. A through hole is obtained on the vertical plate 21, which is crossed in use by a shaft projecting from an inner face 21B of the vertical plate 21. A disc 42 is keyed onto such a shaft (figure 1), a tie rod 43 being eccentrically pivoted thereon by means of a joint 44.
  • It is worth noting that between disc 42 and tie rod 43 there are means for adjusting the hinging point to affect the actual length of the translation path of the carriage assembly 30 on tracks 31, 32 according to the length of the blank to be cut (see below).
  • The moving mechanism 40 ends with a further connecting rod 45 pivoted on the carriage assembly 30 by means of a joint 46A.
  • An intermediate member 46 is provided between the tie rod 43 and the connecting rod 44, which member is pivoted on the vertical plate 21 by means of a pin 47 kinetically connected to the tie rod 43 by means of a joint 48, and to the connecting rod 45 by means of a joint 49.
  • Therefore the rotating movement of disc 42 according to an arrow (R1) results into an oscillating movement of the carriage assembly 30 according to the double-headed arrow (F1).
  • In other words, the moving mechanism 40 is substantially nothing more than a rocker arm adapted to oscillate the carriage assembly 30 on tracks 31, 32 according to the double-headed arrow (F1).
  • The cutting apparatus 10 also comprises an alternate cutting assembly 50, which is also supported by the vertical plate 21.
  • Before describing the alternate cutting assembly 50 in greater detail, a brief analysis will be made of the elements included in the carriage assembly 30.
  • As particularly shown in figures 4, 6, 7, the carriage assembly 30 comprises a carriage 33 with a horizontal platform 33A on which a counter-blade 34 is fastened facing the alternate cutting assembly 50.
  • The horizontal platform 33A is provided with a pair of section bars 35, 36, each of which is slidingly paired with a respective track 31, 32.
  • As particularly shown in figure 6, a portal 37 is mounted to carriage 33, comprising in turn two lateral uprights 37A, 37B which are connected at the top by a crosspiece 37C.
  • The alternate cutting assembly 50 comprises a blade-carrier_ slide 51, which is adapted to vertically slide with respect to the two lateral uprights 37A, 37B due to the prismatic sliding coupling established between the blade-carrier slide 51 and the lateral uprights 37A, 37B. Such a prismatic sliding coupling is obtained by means of a sliding block 52 (figure 1).
  • The alternate cutting assembly 50 further comprises a cutting blade 53, mounted to the blade-carrier slide 51, again facing the mentioned counter-blade 34 which, as mentioned, is integral with the horizontal platform 33A of carriage 33.
  • It is worth noting that the alternate cutting assembly 50 is adapted to operate on any type of roll or sheet; in particular, the cutting assembly 50 may operate on a multilayer card roll of any cross section, for example a card having an L-shaped cross section, or an almost open U-shaped cross section.
  • Furthermore, the cutting blade 53, which is conveniently selected according to the cut to be performed, is adapted to cut the roll, or sheet, according to straight cuts (TD) (figure 8), or according to shaped cuts (TS) (figure 9).
  • In the alternate cutting assembly 50 there is also a second electric motor assembly 54 which is also fastened to the outer face 21A (figure 3) of the vertical plate 21.
  • As seen above in connection whit the moving mechanism 40, a through hole is obtained on the vertical plate 21, which hole is crossed in use by a shaft projecting from an inner face 21B of the vertical plate 21. A disc 55 is keyed onto such a shaft (figure 1), a first free end of a tie rod 56 being eccentrically pivoted thereon by means of a joint 57. Moreover, a second free end of the tie rod 56 is pivoted on the blade-carrier slide 51 by means of a joint 58.
  • Incidentally, it should also be noted that between disc 55 and tie rod 56 there are means for adjusting the pivoting point in order to affect the actual raising of slide 53 with respect to the horizontal platform 33A. Moreover, using means known in the state of the art allows to vary the length of the tie rod 56.
  • In other words, the mechanism used in the cutting assembly 50 is similar to a connecting rod/crank mechanism which transforms the rotary motion according to an arrow (R2) into a vertical translation motion identified by the double-headed arrow (F2).
  • Summarising, while the moving mechanism 40 is adapted to transform the rotary motion of disc 42 in accordance with arrow (R1) into the alternate horizontal motion according to arrow (F1) of carriage 33, in the cutting assembly 50 the transformation of the rotary motion of disc 55 (according to arrow (R2)) into the vertical alternate motion according to arrow (F2) of the blade-carrier slide 51 occurs.
  • The horizontal movement of carriage 33 (according to arrow (F1)) is synchronized with the vertical movement (according to arrow (F2)) of the blade-farrier slide 51, that is of the cutting blade 53 which moves towards the counter-blade 34 to cut the moving sheet (or roll) in order to produce blanks.
  • The sheets (or roll) to be cut can be fed towards the cutting apparatus 10 by means of a first conveyor belt (not shown), while the cut blanks can be discharged by means of a second conveyor belt (not shown). The feeding speeds of the whole sheets can be synchronized with the speed of carriage 33, with the speed of the blade-carrier slide 51, and with the discharge speed of the blanks obtained by cutting the sheets by means of an electronic control unit (not shown) and by implementing known programming systems.
  • The main advantages of the cutting apparatus object of the invention consist, on the one hand, in being able to accurately adjust the cutting pitch (and thus, in the end, to accurately adjust the length of the blank obtained through two consecutive cuts in sequence), and on the other, in drastically reducing the jamming probability of the cutting assemblies.
