Definitions
- the invention relates to an armor element for protection against ballistic threats with a weld-welded via a mounting member.
- Another object of the invention is a ballistically protected housing, in particular vehicle housing, with an armor element with a welded via a welded mounting member.
- Armor elements of this type are often of plate-shaped geometry, made of a metallic material such as armor steel and are used in many areas to protect against ballistic threats, such as the protection of vehicles, bunkers, buildings, containers, camps and the like.
- the armor elements there is often provided that within the area protected by the armor elements, so for example inside a cab of a military motor vehicle, objects of various kinds are attached to the armor elements. For example, seats, belt holders, fire extinguishers and other attachments of all kinds are attached to the armor elements.
- mounting elements are usually attached via a welded joint to the armor elements, via which the objects can then be attached to the armor element, for example via a screw connection.
- the weld between the armor element and the mounting element has proved to be disadvantageous because the structure of the base material of the armor element is adversely affected by the influence of heat during the welding process. Due to these influences, the ballistic protective effect of the armor element in the region of the welded joint is weakened compared to the pure base material, resulting in a ballistic weak point.
- the object of the invention is to compensate for the weld caused by ballistic weaknesses in a simple manner.
- This object is achieved in a armor panel of the aforementioned type characterized in that a weld connection opaque as ballistic support cover member is provided.
- the covering element covers the ballistic weak point which arises in the area of the welded connection, which ballistically supports this area.
- the risk of ballistic missiles penetrating into the protected interior is reduced.
- the local overlap results in an improved level of protection in the area of the welded joint.
- the ballistic weakness is strengthened by the overlap, so that also in the area of the welded joints in a simple way a ballistic protection level is achieved, which corresponds to each of the pure base material of the armor element.
- the invention provides that the mounting element is welded to the inside of the armor element.
- the weld joint located on the inside is not visible to external aggressors.
- the cover element is also arranged on the inside.
- the mounting element has a thread.
- the mounting element may be provided with a thread in the manner of a threaded bush or in the manner of a weld.
- the thread allows objects of various types to be releasably fixed to the armor element from the inside.
- an internal thread and / or an external thread may be provided for fastening the object.
- the invention provides that the cover element is connected via a connection point with the mounting element.
- the Monatageelement can first be connected to the armor element and then the connection between the mounting element and the cover element can be made.
- This embodiment is also suitable as a retrofit solution for already in use mounting elements. Welding and / or screw connections are possible as connection points.
- the covering element is designed as a disk.
- Disc may consist of an armor material and surround the mounting element in the manner of a circumferential collar rosette-like.
- a further embodiment provides that the cover element is designed as a conical disk, wherein the cone can open in particular in the direction of the armor element.
- the covering element has an opening into which the mounting element engages for connection to the covering element.
- the covering element can be screw-connected to the mounting element and / or welded.
- An embodiment which is advantageous for the ballistic protection level of the armor element provides that the covering element bears loosely against the armor element. While the cover element can be welded to the mounting element, it is advantageous if this rests loosely on the edge of the armor element.
- a Sch spatheticsw arrangement against the armor element advantageous to not affect the structure of the base material of the armor element by such a welded connection negative.
- the covering element is arranged on the inside of the armor element. In this way, the cover element is located in the protected interior and remains hidden from outside aggressors.
- the mounting element is inserted into an opening of the armor element.
- the opening may be formed as a through hole or as a blind hole.
- the openings can be introduced into this, whereby a kind of predetermined hole pattern is created, which can use the fitter during the subsequent welding of the mounting elements, resulting in a simple, less error-prone mounting.
- the centering element may in particular be designed as a centering pin and have a smaller diameter than the mounting element.
- the overlapping element provided on the armor element covers the ballistic weak point that results in the area of the welded joint, which ballistically supports this area.
- the overlap results in a locally improved level of protection in the area of the welded joint.
- the ballistic weak point is strengthened by the overlap, so that also in the area of the welded joint a ballistic protection level is easily achieved, which corresponds to that of the pure base material of the armor element.
- the mounting element is arranged in the connecting region of two armor elements and welded to both.
- the connection region can be, for example, a welded housing edge of a military motor vehicle housing.
- the cover element can be connected in such a configuration by particular frontal screwing with the mounting element.
- a plurality of mounting elements can be arranged in the connecting region of two armor elements along a connecting edge.
- the connecting edge of the armor elements may be formed by a weld, resulting in a ballistic weakening in the connection area.
- the mounting element is connected to a covering element covering the connection region and the welded connection.
- the connection can be made in particular by means of screwing.
- the weld joint of the mounting element with the armor elements is ballistically supported by the cover element in such an embodiment, at the same time there is also a ballistic support of the connecting edge of both armor elements.
- FIG. 1 shown is a perspective view of a ballistically protected housing 50 which is provided with a plurality of armor elements 1 for protection against ballistic threats, which are formed as armor plates.
- the present invention is not limited to use in the vehicle field, but can be equally used in other areas, for example, for the protection of bunkers, buildings, ships, field camps and the like.
- a plurality of mounting elements 2 are provided with associated cover elements 4.
- covering elements 4 of substantially rosette-shaped geometry are shown in the region of the inside of the armor elements 1.
- covering elements 4 are shown, which are rather elongated, plate-shaped geometry and are not the subject of the present invention.
- FIG. 3 is the inside of a plate-shaped armor element 1 in a plan view and in FIG. 4 the armor element 1 shown in a corresponding sectional view, with a grid of different mounting elements 2 is shown with associated cover elements 4 for illustrative purposes.
- various objects such as seats, belt holder, fire extinguishers and attachments of all kinds can be releasably fixed to the inside I of the armor element 1.
- FIG. 5 shows in an enlarged, sectional view of a mounting element 2, which is welded via a welded joint 3 with the armor element 1.
- the mounting element 2 is designed in the manner of a threaded bushing or a Sch spabutzens.
- the mounting member 2 is of a total cylindrical geometry and has circumferentially an annular welded joint 3, via which the mounting member 2 is fixed to the inside I of the protective plate 1.
- the covering element 4 is arranged opposite the welded joint 3 in such a way that the welded joint 3 is covered in the direction of the threat. Due to the overlap of the covering element 4, the ballistic protective effect increases locally.
- the cover element 4 is connected to the mounting element 2 via a connection point 6, which is designed as a welded connection.
- the covering element 4 is a conical disk which, in the region of its inner opening, is guided over the mounting element 2 and connected thereto by welding.
- the cone of the cover element 4 opens in the direction of the armor element 1.
- the edge of the cover element 4 lies loosely against the inside I of the armor element 1. There is no welded connection in this area.
- the mounting member 2 coming from the inside I of the armor element 1 forth inserted into an opening 7 of the armor element 1.
- the opening 7 can already be introduced into the armor element 1 during the cutting of the armor element 1, for example by means of a laser beam cutting system.
- the welder therefore only needs to use a centering element 8 in the opening 7, after which the mounting element 2 can then be welded in a defined position on the inside I of the armor element 1, which is a little error-prone, quick installation allowed. It is also possible to subsequently provide mounting elements 2 already in use with such a covering element 4.
- the centering element 8 is in the embodiment according to FIG. 5 formed as a bolt-shaped extension of the mounting member 2, which has a reduced diameter compared to the other mounting member 2.
- the centering element 8 is arranged concentrically to the thread 5 of the mounting element 2.
- the thread 5 is a provided on the mounting element 2, formed in the manner of a threaded blind hole internal thread.
- opening 7 in FIG. 5 is shown as a through hole, it would also be possible to perform the opening 7 as a blind hole and introduce, for example by means of machining production process in the material of the armor element 1. The opening 7 would not be visible from the outside in such a configuration.
- the opening 7 is in the embodiment according to FIG. 6 likewise configured as a through-hole, wherein the mounting element 2 and with this the covering element 4 coming from the outside A of the armor element 1 forth are inserted into the opening 7. After insertion of the mounting member 2, this can be set on the provided on the inside I of the armor element 1 weld 3 on the armor element 1.
- the covering element 4 is according to FIG. 6 designed as a radial extension of the one end of the mounting member 2, which covers the welded joint 3 from outside the armor element 1 and so far represents a ballistic support of the ballistic weakened by the welded joint 3 area of the armor element 1.

- FIG. 7 shows a further embodiment of an inventive mounting element 2 and an associated cover element 4.
- the cover element 4 is connected via a connection point 6 with the mounting element 2.
- the connection is made via an external thread provided on the mounting element 2, which engages in an internal thread provided on the covering element 4.
- the mounting member 2 is first welded via the welded joint 3 on the inside I of the armor element 1, after which then designed in the manner of a conical disk covering element 4 is screwed from the inside over the external thread of the mounting member 3 against the inside I of the armor element 1.
- the region of the junction 6 opposite edge of the cover element 4 is this loosely on the inside I of the armor element 1 at. Also in this embodiment results in a ballistically supporting coverage of the ballistic weakened by the weld joint 3 area of the armor element. 1
- FIG. 8 is the connecting portion 51 of two armor elements 1 shown.
- the two armor elements 1 are connected to one another via a weld 52.
- the covering 3 covering the cover element 4 which in the embodiment according to FIG. 8 is designed differently from the subject of the present invention in the manner of a flat plate.
- the covering element 4 is held in this embodiment by a plurality of mounting elements 2, which extend along the connecting portion 51.
- the connection is made in each case via bolts 9, which are braced against the mounting elements 2.
- the covering element 4 extends parallel to the welding point 52 provided in the connecting region 51 of the protective element 1 and covers not only this welding point 52 but also the welded joints 3, which is why special support for the ballistic protective effect by the covering element 4 results here.
- mounting elements described above and the associated covering elements make it possible to easily compensate for ballistic weakenings which result from the welded connection of a mounting element with the armor element. Due to the structurally comparatively simple structure, the devices described above are particularly suitable as retrofit solutions for already in operation vehicles.

Description

- In
- In
- In
