Description

  • The present invention relates to an oven comprising a knob.
  • In ovens, more than one knob, which is assembled to the panel disposed on the body and which provides the cooking parameters to be selected, is disposed. In ovens, generally a knob utilized for selecting one of the cooking types such as turbo or static and another knob utilized for adjusting the cooking temperature are disposed. Cooking parameters such as cooking type and temperature are displayed with signs such as logo, number and text that are arranged on the panel, around the knobs and that are generally applied using the serigraphy method. After selecting the cooking type, the cooking process is realized by selecting the cooking temperature.
  • There are differences in the air flow inside the oven depending on the cooking type and these differences affect the oven inner temperature. For example, there are differences in the heat distribution of the oven cavity at the cooking type wherein the fan is not operated in comparison with the cooking type wherein the fan is operated. In ovens having a mechanical temperature adjustment knob, the cooking temperature selected by the user is adjusted by the mechanically controlled thermostat. In cases wherein the cooking temperature is adjusted by mechanically controlled thermostats, this kind of thermostats cannot detect the temperature differences related to the cooking type and therefore the cooking temperature cannot be maintained at the desired value.
  • In the state of the art, there is generally a single temperature scale around the temperature adjustment knob and a single indicator enabling to show the selected temperature on this scale. When the cooking temperature is desired to be determined by using this indicator, which is assumed to be valid for every cooking type, the temperature differences related to the cooking type are ignored. When cooking cannot be realized at the correct temperature corresponding to the selected cooking type, the cooking quality decreases and this situation causes user dissatisfaction. Further prior art is disclosed in US 2003/0116557 .
  • The aim of the present invention is the realization of an oven wherein the cooking temperature is provided to be selected according to the cooking type.
  • The oven realized in order to attain the aim of the present invention, explicated in the first claim and the respective claims thereof, comprises a selection means which is utilized for selecting the cooking type, a knob which is utilized for adjusting the cooking temperature, a ring-shaped scale which is disposed around the knob and whereon the temperature values are written and an indicator which is disposed on the knob, rotating together with the knob, utilized for displaying the adjusted cooking temperature and related to each cooking type. The oven, furthermore, comprises a control unit which provides the indicator related to the selected cooking type to be activated after the cooking type is selected by the selection means. Thus, the cooking quality is improved by providing the cooking temperature to be adjusted in a correct manner on the scale by means of the indicator related to the cooking type.
  • In an embodiment of the present invention, the indicator has at least one light source that emits light when the indicator is activated. Thus, by means of the light source that lights when the indicator is activated, the user is informed that the cooking temperature is adjusted in a correct manner by the indicator related to the cooking type.
  • In another embodiment of the present invention, the light source is disposed on the knob. Thus, by the light source.emitting light when the indicator is brought to the active position, the knob is also illuminated. Thus, an esthetic appearance is achieved on the oven.
  • By means of the present invention, an oven is realized wherein the user is provided to adjust the cooking temperature in a correct manner by the indicator related to the cooking type.
  • The oven realized in order to attain the aim of the present invention is illustrated in the attached figures, where:
    • Figure 1 - is the perspective view of an oven.
    • Figure 2 - is the front view of a panel.
    • Figure 3 - is the sideways schematic view of a panel and a knob.
    • Figure 4 - is the front view of a knob and indicators when an indicator is activated.
  • The elements illustrated in the figures are numbered as follows:

  • The oven (1) comprises a body (2), a panel (3) which is diposed on the body (2), a selection means (4) which is disposed on the panel (3) and utilized for selecting the cooking type, a knob (5) which is utilized for adjusting the cooking temperature by being rotated, a ring-shaped scale (6) which is disposed around the knob (5) and whereon the temperature values are written, at least two indicators (7) which are disposed on the knob (5), rotating together with the knob (5), utilized for displaying the adjusted cooking temperature and associated to cooking types and a control unit (8) which provides the indicator (7) related to the selected cooking type to be activated when the cooking type is selected by the selection means (4) (Figure 1).
  • At the beginning of the cooking operation, the user selects the cooking type by means of the selection means (4). For example, one of the cooking types such as static, turbo, electro-turbo, pizza etc. is selected by means of the selection means (4). One indicator (7) corresponding to each of these cooking types is disposed on the knob (5). When the cooking type is selected, the indicator (7) related to the selected cooking type is activated by means of the control unit (8). The user rotates the knob (5) to adjust the cooking temperature, at the same time the indicators (7) rotate together with the knob (5). By means of the indicator (7) related to the selected cooking type which is brought to the active position, the cooking temperature is adjusted by the scale (6) whereon the temperature values at which the cooking can be realized are written. Thus, the cooking temperature is provided to be adjusted in an exact manner according to the cooking type. The cooking quality is improved by selecting the cooking temperature by means of the indicator (7) related to the cooking type.
  • In an embodiment of the present invention, the indicator (7) has at least one light source (9) that emits light when the indicator (7) is activated. Thus, when the indicator (7) is activated, the light source (9) emits light and the user is informed that he/she has made cooking temperature adjustment by means of the indicator (7) related to the selected cooking type.
  • In another embodiment of the present invention, the light source (9) is disposed on the knob (5). The light source (9) emits light when the indicator is activated by the control unit (8) and thus the knob (5) is illuminated. Thus, an esthetic appearance is achieved on the knob (5).
  • In another embodiment of the present invention, the lights source (9) is a LED.
  • In an embodiment of the present invention, the scale (6) is disposed on the panel (3).
  • In the oven (1) of the present invention, the cooking quality is improved by the user adjusting the exact cooking temperature by activating the indicator (7) related to the selected cooking type.
  • It is to be understood that the present invention is not limited to the embodiments disclosed above and a person skilled in the art can easily introduce different embodiments. These different embodiments should also be considered within the scope of the claims of the present invention.

Claims (5)

  1. An oven (1) comprising a body (2), a panel (3) which is disposed on the body (2), a selection means (4) which is disposed on the panel (3) and utilized for selecting the cooking type, a knob (5) which is utilized for adjusting the cooking temperature by being rotated and a ring-shaped scale (6) which is disposed around the knob (5) and whereon the temperature values are written, characterized by at least two indicators (7) which are disposed on the knob (5), rotating together with the knob (5), utilized for displaying the adjusted cooking temperature and associated to cooking types and a control unit (8) which provides the indicator (7) related to the selected cooking type to be activated when the cooking type is selected by the selection means (4).
  2. An oven (1) as in Claim 1, characterized by the indicator (7) which has at least one light source (9) that emits light when the indicator (7) is activated.
  3. An oven (1) as in Claim 2, characterized by the light source (9) disposed on the knob (5).
  4. An oven (1) as in Claim 2 or 3, characterized by the light source (9) which is a LED.
  5. An oven (1) as in any one of the above claims, characterized by the scale (6) disposed on the panel (3).
