Description

The invention relates to a sealing device for preventing the ingress of liquid, hot asphalt in the gap between the upper part and lower part of a street cap with a height adjustable inserted into a lower part, with an arranged over this gap, so sized elastic ring that he the insertable in the lower part of the upper part in a slidable manner, wherein the gap has a width such that a tilting movement of the upper part relative to the lower part can be done to the extent that one to be set inclination of the road surface relative to the footprint of the lower part on the ground requires.

The invention further relates to road caps, which are equipped with sealing devices of the aforementioned type.

Road caps are installed in roads and serve to access fittings of utility lines laid under the roads. They are placed on a prepared surface, for example, gravel, on the appropriate fitting. Then they are usually after application of another layer of gravel with a road surface, usually with asphalt, poured so that their surface with the street level is flat. The lid is removable to get to the fitting, and is usually secured by a bolt against removal. Originally, road caps were made of cast iron, which are susceptible to rust and difficult to handle because of their weight. Therefore, one has begun to make them usually made of plastic.

In most cases, pavements are applied in multiple layers, and there is often a need to temporarily lay a road in post-pavement after application of the primer Operation, if only for site traffic. Therefore, the height adjustment of the road cap must be made flexible by the adjustment of the upper part relative to the lower part in order not to endanger ongoing traffic through outstanding tops. The same situation can also arise in repair work on roads when old coverings are removed or roughened to apply new coverings.

For this reason, road caps are formed from a lower part and an insertable in this height-adjustable manner upper part. For height adjustment either the top must be kept until it is held by the applied asphalt, or it must be provided a holding device. As such, for example, various types of surmountable clamps may be formed, as shown in the EP 1 486 622 A2 are described. With such conquerable clamps, it is usually not possible to form the entire opposing surfaces in the insertion of the upper part in the lower part as a press fit, since such a surface pressure, even in plastic streetcaps either requires a completely uneconomical tolerance accuracy or is too large to overcome them by hand to be able to. That's why the beats EP 1 486 622 A2 to provide only partial areas of the opposing surfaces for effecting such a surmountable clamping. However, this has the consequence that in the other areas between these opposing surfaces of the upper part and lower part, a gap is formed in the liquid asphalt can penetrate. This is done in accordance with the above-mentioned road caps without a holding device, or in the numerous proposals of holding devices of the prior art, which have no seal between the upper and lower part. However, the asphalt that has penetrated blocks a change in the position of the upper part after curing and thus a change in the height adjustment, which is required, for example, to apply another road surface.

A proposal of a street cap with a sealing device of the type mentioned above makes the EP 0 462 036 A1 , This consists in the insertable in the lower part of the upper part with the abovementioned, equip elastic ring to place this according to the desired height adjustment. When inserting the upper part in the lower part of the ring passes after this proposal in a groove of the lower part to give the upper part in the desired height adjustment in the lower part hold. Although this height adjustment leads to a gap-free adjacency of the upper part to the lower part, but has the disadvantage that the elastic ring must be made of a material that is resistant to heat despite its elasticity to about 220 ° C, so that the ring through the hot, liquid asphalt is not destroyed during the application of the road surface. However, such a material has a price ten to twenty times that which costs an elastic plastic or rubber which does not have this heat resistance. Since such road caps are an article that is installed in very high numbers, the use of such expensive material is not a solution that is economically viable.

The FR 2 663 006 and the FR 2 705 981 teach road caps, in which the upper and lower parts are adjustable in height by means of a thread by rotation of the upper part, wherein in the upper part of the lower part on the inside a groove with an elastic ring is arranged, which prevents the access of hot asphalt to the thread. Such road caps are not road caps of the type mentioned, since in this because of the thread no tilting movement of the upper part relative to the lower part is possible to compensate for an inclination of the road surface relative to the base of the base on the ground. These road caps also have no upper part, which abuts with an elastic ring on the lower part in a displaceable manner, since the thread does not allow displacement. Therefore, such a road cap when rolling the pavement is always destroyed when the roller exerts a pressure against the road cap, because the top can not escape by shifting or tilting. Since you can make the ground difficult, with great effort and never exactly parallel to the future road surface, such road caps are never exactly flat with the road surface, neither in terms of their height, nor with respect to a slope, since this is not adjustable. These writings also give no suggestion as to how to design a sealing device of the type mentioned above to the upper part in displaceable and tiltable way to keep, but at the same time to protect the elastic ring that rests against this upper part of the liquid asphalt.

Another suggestion to solve this problem is the DE 20 2008 012 318 U1 , This consists in providing on the upper edge of the lower part an inwardly projecting sealing lip which holds the upper part in an adjustable manner. If such a lip is formed of the same material as the lower part, for example as a one-piece component, it must be relatively rigid in order to ensure the support of the upper part. But this prevents a manual adjustment of the Upper part, or makes it difficult to at least an unacceptably high degree. But if the lip is formed according to a further proposal of the aforementioned document from a material having an elasticity that makes the lip suitable for manual adjustment of the upper part relative to the lower part for height adjustment, then an expensive material must be used, which is so resistant to heat in that it withstands the hot, liquid asphalt as a result of the paving application. But then this solution has the same disadvantage as the proposal of EP 0 462 036 A1 ,

The DE 20 2008 000 463 U1 teaches a road cap of the type mentioned, in particular with the possibility of adjusting the top of the road cap according to the inclination of the road surface relative to the footprint of the base to the ground. For this purpose, the possibility of a tilting movement of the upper part relative to the lower part is described. In this proposal, the lower part on the inside below the upper edge of an annular circumferential nose of sealing material, which allows the height adjustment of the upper part relative to the lower part and prevents ingress of dirt and asphalt. This ring-shaped circumferential nose is also the plane in which an imaginary tilt axis of the upper part lies, since this nose is the narrowest and fitting to the upper part of the lower part. In this embodiment, it inevitably occurs that liquid asphalt penetrates to the annular circumferential nose. Therefore, this document also suggests that they produce from a heat-resistant up to about 240 ° C plastic. However, there is again the problem described above that very expensive materials must be used to prevent the penetration of liquid asphalt into the gap between the upper and lower parts.

The invention is therefore the object of a sealing device and a road cap of the type mentioned with the possibility of tilting the upper part relative to the lower part such that the gap between the upper part and the lower part of a height-adjustable road cap without the use of expensive materials before penetration protected by liquid asphalt.

The object is achieved with respect to the sealing device, characterized in that a cover is provided, which covers the ring, wherein in relation to the gap small play of the cover to the insertable into the lower part of the upper part is formed with a low relative to the gap height-wise extent, wherein the game is so large that, lying in the plane of the imaginary tilt axis of the upper part, this tilting movement allows, but is so small that the cover member covers the ring in such a way that liquid asphalt can not penetrate substantially to the ring ,

With regard to the road caps, the object is achieved in that they are equipped with a sealing device of the aforementioned type.

The basic idea of the invention is that no expensive material has to be used for the ring if it is protected by a covering element substantially from contact with the liquid asphalt. This purpose, a cover to which, in contrast to the ring of the above prior art, no special elasticity requirements must be made, and therefore may consist of a cheaper material, such as the usual plastic for road caps. A protected by such a cover ring is thus exposed to a significantly reduced heating and, despite its elasticity can consist of a much cheaper material, since no special requirements are placed on its heat resistance.

Since liquid asphalt is a relatively viscous mass, the cover does not need to enclose the ring without any gap, since the asphalt can penetrate only in a larger gap to a significant extent. It is even a certain amount of play between the cover and the insertable into the lower part of the upper part required, which will be explained. Between the lower part and upper part of a road cap, however, a larger gap is almost always present, because on the one hand tight tolerances over a large area for such a mass product are not portable - in the cover, however, can be the narrower gap of the game because of the small area of the annular Enclosure easily priced on the other hand, because the top of the road cap should be tiltable in a certain range relative to the lower part. This tiltability has the purpose of compensating for parallelism differences between the base of the base and the road surface. Such tiltability requires a slight clearance in the plane in which the (imaginary) tilting axis lies, this is in the region of the cover element, but it requires a relatively large gap between the part of the upper part which can be inserted into the lower part and the lower part, so that the tilting movement between the upper part and the lower part is also possible in this area, even if the upper part is far inserted into the lower part. For this purpose, the gap between the upper part and the lower part in the ratio of its greater extension in height to the lower heightwise extent of the play of the cover must be greater than the game of the cover. For this reason, the play of the cover can be so tight dimensioned that the liquid asphalt can not penetrate substantially to the ring, the gap between the upper and lower part, however, must have a size to ensure the Verkippungsmöglichkeit a size through which the liquid asphalt full could penetrate into this gap, if one did not provide a sealing device.

If the cover to the insertable into the lower part of the upper part or at its adjacency to the lower part thus has a small gap to form the required clearance for a tilt of the upper part, so this must be designed so that liquid asphalt does not pass substantially. However, if there is only a slight penetration of asphalt into the covered area, this is harmless. By a slight contact of asphalt with the elastic ring without special heat resistance of this is not equal destroyed, since a small amount of asphalt, such. B. few drops, not so much heat energy can transport that the material of the ring is brought to relevant levels to critical temperatures. Nevertheless, this ring prevents precisely in the aforementioned case that even small amounts of liquid asphalt between the adjacent surfaces of lower part and upper part can get and stick them.

Preferably, the ring is designed in terms of elasticity and dimensions such that it bears with such a force on the insertable into the lower part of the upper part, that this is held on the one hand, but on the other hand allows a displacement of the upper part relative to the lower part. In this way, not only a reliable seal is effected, but also an appropriate height adjustment for the road cap is achieved. This must consist in that a manual adjustment is possible, the upper part is then held securely to avoid accidental adjustment, but when rolling the pavement of this shell by the road roller can be pressed down a little bit, so that the road cap with the road surface completes completely plan.

The game of the cover over the insertable into the lower part of the upper part should be such that it does not pass on the one hand to a significant extent liquid asphalt, but it should be so large that a relation to the footprint of the lower part deviating inclination of the road surface by tilting the upper part relative to the lower part is adjustable, without the sealing device thereby also undergoes a tilt, which would cause it no longer rests flat on the lower part and therefore penetrates asphalt. That is, the game of the cover should allow without significant change in position of the cover, in particular without the cover the tilting movement, this tilt allow. Since the (imaginary) axis of such a tilting movement lies in a plane which is in the region of the cover element, there is sufficient little play there.

The purpose of tilting the top relative to the base is to compensate for non-parallelism between the footprint of the roadway cap on the ground, such as a rolled ballast, and the final deck surface of the roadway. Such non-parallelism arises, for example, in that the ground is relatively flat, but the deck surface of the road must be formed curved so that the water runs to the sides of the road. However, certain deviations from the parallelism of the road surface with the road surface may also occur in the formation of curves of the road.

The cover may be formed such that it comprises the ring only above and outside, so that the ring is positioned directly above the gap, and thereby largely prevented by the cover element penetration of asphalt on the adjacency of the cover to the upper part and the lower part , In this case, the cover element and ring are to be inserted as separate components during installation, and that is first to put the cover on the upper part and then the ring is to be positioned, only then can the upper part are inserted into the lower part.

In contrast, a further development provides that the cover element has a groove into which the ring can be inserted. In this case, a downwardly delimiting the web may be formed so that it rests in the installed position on the upper side of the lower part. In this way, it is possible to insert the ring in the groove of the cover so that you need only aufzustecken this assembled elements on the top of the road cap.

Conveniently, the cover is adapted to the lower part of the respective street cap so that it overhangs the upper edge of the lower part in the installed position. The overhang secures the adjacency of the cover relative to the lower part relatively safe from the ingress of liquid asphalt, since this can not rise as a viscous mass very far in a gap upwards.

A particular embodiment provides that the cover for use in road caps, in which the insertable into the lower part of the upper part is not round, adapted to the non-circular shape of this part. Such a non-circular shape occurs for example in road caps that do not round as access to the fittings, but form, for example, a square shaft, or it also occurs in otherwise round road caps, if, for example, for the design of a clamping device, such a runout in Insertion of the upper part in the lower part for effecting a clamping provides, as for example in the EP 0 462 036 A1 is proposed.

The elastic ring may have different cross sections, but a round cross section is advantageous, since then the ring on the insertable into the lower part of the upper part not only moved, but also can be rolled.

The cover should be made of such a heat-resistant material that temperatures, the liquid asphalt does not change this. It is best to choose as the material of a heat-resistant plastic, for example, one from which the plastic street caps are made.

The inventively designed road cap has a sealing device which is formed in the aforementioned manner. It is possible that the cover is designed as a separate component, which is arranged in the installed position on the lower part of the road cap. This has the particular advantage that the cover and elastic rings can also be installed as retrofit elements in street caps. You must then be made only according to the dimensions of the respective road caps. In this case, one can also insert such sealing devices subsequently in already installed road caps, for example, when new road surfaces are applied. This is also possible with cast-iron road caps.

However, a road cap according to the invention may also be designed such that the cover is connectable to the lower part of the road cap, and then includes the elastic ring. Such a connection may for example be designed as a snap connection, which may be arranged in the region of the upper edge of the lower part and the projection of the cover over this upper region of the lower part.

Preferably, the cover member has latching noses, which are provided with bevels, whereby they dodge when placing the cover on the lower part and a pressure on the cover to the outside, then engage in a arranged on the outside of the lower part groove.

Another possibility is that the cover is integrally formed with the lower part of the road cap, wherein cover and lower part of the road cap form a groove for insertion of the ring, and wherein the gap between the upper part and lower part a multiple of the game between the insertable into the lower part Part of the upper part and the cover is. This dimensioning of gap and clearance is required so that the liquid asphalt can not penetrate substantially to the ring, but nevertheless the gap between the upper part and lower part is so large that tilting of the upper part of the road cap relative to the lower part is possible to the fact To take into account that the base of the base often does not run parallel to the road surface and this must be compensated by said tilting. In this way, then the top of the shell is so accurate in the road surface, that there is no projection and no depression.

Further embodiments are conceivable, but the basic idea is that the covering element substantially prevents the liquid asphalt from accessing the ring. Furthermore, the ring should be suitably designed and arranged so that it is also interchangeable in the course of repackaging a road surface to restore the functioning of the sealing device when such rings have become brittle over many years.

Fig. 1 shows a road cap 2 with a sealing device 1 according to the invention, which is installed in a street, in section.

Such road caps 2 serve to ensure that fittings 17 located in the roadbed are accessible from the road surface 14. For this purpose, such road caps 2 form a shaft which leads to the fittings 17 and is covered at the top with a cover 16.

When installing a road cap 2 in the road, the road cap 2 is placed on a prepared gravel bed 18, and then the other road surface is applied, which may consist of another ballast bed 19 and asphalt pavements 5, for example. According to the height of these road surfaces the street cap 2 must be adjusted in height. For this purpose, road caps 2 are divided into a lower part 3 and an upper part 4, wherein the upper part 4 has an insertable into the lower part 3 part 4 '. These are telescopically intermeshing tubes, which allow the setting of a height difference in a certain range, which is indicated by the double arrow 25.

In general, while the footprint 13 of the lower part 3 and the road surface 14 are not exactly parallel, which, for example, comes about that the road surface 14 must have a curvature for the flow of water. Therefore, the center axis 23 of the upper part 4 with respect to the central axis 22 of the lower part 3 must be tilted to a certain extent, as shown by the double arrow 24.

This need for tilting of the upper part 4 relative to the lower part 3 results in a gap 6 being required between the lower part 3 and the part 4 'of the upper part 4 which can be introduced into this lower part 3, permitting this tilting movement 24. Would If the road cap 2 were not provided with a sealing device 1, the applied asphalt 5, which is liquid at least viscous when applied, would penetrate into this gap 6, and it would bond the lower part 3 and the upper part 4 of the road cap 2 in this way, that no change in height adjustment 25 is possible. However, this is very often necessary because often the top asphalt layer is not yet applied, and still the road for traffic, for example, for a site traffic, must be released, and thereby no protrusions of road caps 2 may hinder this. Another reason that the street cap 2 must be able to be adjusted later in height, are road renewal in which a damaged top layer is removed or roughened to apply a new topcoat. With height-adjustable road caps, it is then possible to loosen the upper part 4 in the asphalt 5, and extract, for example, for the application of another road surface according to their thickness.

Therefore, the invention provides a sealing device 1, which prevents the penetration of asphalt 5 in the gap 6, and thus receives the height adjustment 25 of the upper part 4. For this purpose, an elastic ring 7 is provided, which encloses the insertable into the lower part 3 part 4 'of the upper part 4 under a certain voltage and can be positioned so that it covers the gap 6 while the upper part 4 at the desired altitude holds, but when rolling the road can also be pressed down to the height of the road surface 14 down. Such an arrangement of an elastic ring 7 already teaches the above-cited EP 0 462 036 A1 However, this is associated with the above-mentioned disadvantage that materials which have the required elasticity and yet are resistant to hot asphalt are far too expensive for such a mass product as road caps 2.

Therefore, the invention proposes that the ring 7 is covered by a cover member 8, which prevents hot asphalt 5 can penetrate substantially to the ring 7. In this way, the heat load of the ring 7 is significantly reduced by the hot asphalt 5, so that materials can be used, although have the required elasticity, but a much lower heat resistance, and are ten to twenty times cheaper.

In the representation of the sealing device 1 is a first embodiment with the simplest structure. In this case, the cover 8 has the shape of a ring with an angular cross-section, wherein the upper, substantially horizontal leg covering the ring 7 above, and the lower, substantially vertically extending leg protects the ring 7 on its outside in front of the asphalt 5 , The upper leg has a play 11 to the insertable into the lower part 3 part 4 'of the upper part 4, which substantially prevents the ingress of asphalt 5, but is large enough to allow a tilt 24 of the upper part 4. The vertical angle closes with a similar game to the upper edge of the lower part 3, so that even there no asphalt 5 can penetrate to the ring 7.

The presentation of the Fig. 1 Such a sealing device 1 can be sold both as part of a street cap 2, or it is possible to produce such sealing devices 1 as additional elements for road caps 2, then to such when installing with such Equip sealing devices 1. For this purpose, the sealing devices 1 must be adapted only to the dimensions of the road caps 1, so that according to the different dimensions, an assortment of such sealing devices 1 is provided.

From the illustration it is also apparent why the gap 6 between the lower part 3 and the insertable into the lower part 3 part 4 'of the upper part 4 can not be made so low that there the liquid asphalt 5 can not penetrate. Because of the necessary tilting 24 of the upper part 4, this gap 6 must have a size which, in spite of its maximum possible height-wise extent 21 permits such tilting 24. Of course, this height-wise extent 21 varies according to the height adjustment 25, wherein the gap width 6 of a tilting 24 must take account of the largest height-wise extension 21. In contrast, the height-wise extent 20 of the game 11 of the cover 8 is low, and Therefore, this can be kept much lower than the gap 6. This fact ultimately makes such sealing devices 1 necessary.

The tilting 24 of the upper part 3 takes place in a plane 24, that is, there is the (imaginary) axis 24 'of the tilting movement 24. Since the cover 8 includes the engaging in the lower part 3 part 4 'of the upper part 4 because of the small relative to the gap 6 game 11 closest, the tilt 24 is by itself so that it takes place about the axis 24', wherein However, a slight displacement of the cover 8 is possible. The gap 6 must then have a width such that a tilting movement 24 can take place to the extent that the inclination to be set of the road surface 14 relative to the base 13 of the base 3 on the ground, for example on the ballast bed 18, requires.

Fig. 2 shows a detail of a second embodiment in section. This section shows on one side of the road cap 2 a portion of the region of a inserted into a lower part 3 part 4 'of the upper part 4 with a sealing device according to the invention 1. By enlargement here the difference between the game 11 and the much wider gap 6 clearly visible , The relatively wide gap 6, could penetrate the asphalt 5, here is covered by the elastic ring 7, which in turn is protected by the cover 8 in front of it that asphalt 5 could penetrate to such an extent to the ring 7, that thereby transported heat can damage the material of this ring 7. In the illustrated embodiment, the cover 8 is located on the upper side of the lower part 3, but in addition has an overhang 15, which projects over the upper side of the lower part 3 and thus protects the ring 7 safer from liquid asphalt 5, even if the Covering 8, for example, due to contamination, would not rest completely on top of the lower part 3.

Fig. 3 shows a detail of a third embodiment in section, in which the cover member 8 is provided with a groove 9 into which the elastic ring 7 can be inserted prior to installation, so that then during installation, the sealing device 1, consisting of cover 8 and inserted ring 7, only on the insertable into the lower part 3 part 4 'of the upper part 4 must be postponed.

Fig. 4 shows in section a detail of a sealing device 1, which is integrated in a road cap 2. In this case, the cover 8 is attached directly to the lower part 3, wherein a groove 9 'is formed, in which the elastic ring 7 is inserted. Essential in such an inventive design of a road cap 1 is here that the game 11 between the cover 8 and the insertable into the lower part 3 part 4 'of the upper part 4 must be so small that there is substantially no asphalt 5 to the elastic ring. 7 can penetrate. Essentially means here - as in the other embodiments - that an advancing amount of asphalt to the ring 7 may only be so low that it does not damage the very limited heat-resistant material of the ring 7. In contrast, however, the gap 6 between the upper part 4 and the lower part 3 of the road cap must be so large that the required tilting 24 of the upper part 4 relative to the lower part 3 are possible.

Fig. 5 shows a connection of a cover 8 with a lower part 3 by a latch. In this case, the cover 8 locking lugs 27 with such slopes 29 that the cover 8 must be placed only on the lower part 3 and pressed down so that the locking lugs 27 engage in a circumferential groove 28 on the outside of the lower part 28.

Of course, these are only a few embodiments of the invention. The cover 8 may have a variety of different profiles, as far as they ensure the protection of the ring 7 in front of the hot asphalt 5. Also, the gap 6 between the upper part 4 and lower part 3 may have any design that allows the tilting movement 24 of the upper part 4 relative to the lower part 3. For example, the gap 6 in the upper region of the lower part 3 can be narrower and downwards corresponding to the tilting movement 24 wider.
