Definitions
- the invention relates to a membrane vacuum pump having the features of the preamble of claim 1.
- Diaphragm vacuum pumps are positive displacement oscillating vacuum pumps and well known.
- at least one pumping chamber is periodically reduced and enlarged by (each) an oscillating element.
- an oscillating element a diaphragm made of a flexible material is used in membrane vacuum pumps, which is clamped gas-tight as possible on the outer circumference and is offset, for example by mechanical elements, pneumatically or hydraulically in an oscillating motion.
- the membrane forms, together with a second element, the so-called head cover, a cavity with variable volume, the suction chamber.
- the medium to be pumped here gases or vapors
- the medium located in the pumping chamber is compressed and ejected through at least one outlet opening.
- a plurality of diaphragm pump stages are often connected in parallel or serially.
- Such vacuum pumps are very widely used for the production of coarse and fine vacuum for various applications in industry and research.
- Membrane vacuum pumps are characterized in particular by the fact that they can be built very compact with sufficient for appropriate applications pumping speed. They are therefore often used in laboratories, as a built-in pump in equipment and for other applications that require only limited pumping speed.
- valves are required at the inlet and outlet ports. It is known to design these valves as valves controlled by the gas flow itself. These correspond in functioning check valves. These are oriented so that at inlet openings, the gas only in the pumping chamber into it, and at outlet ports, the gas can only flow out. Possible arrangements of such by the gas flow itself controlled valves are for example in the literature EP-A-0 783 077 . US 6,817,839 B2 . DE-A-102 33 302 and DE-A-10 2006 021 535 disclosed.
- Fig. 1 shows a sectional view of a pumping stage of a typical diaphragm vacuum pump according to the known prior art in the time sequence (phase 1 to 4).
- a membrane vacuum pump has a housing 1, in which a membrane 2 is clamped edge.
- the membrane 2 is moved by a drive, the drive connecting rod 3 is moved in a tumbling rolling movement relative to the housing 1 from the drive.
- a pump chamber 4 is limited in the housing 1 on one side.
- the pumping chamber 4 is bounded by a housing head 5.
- the housing head 5 consists of a head cover 6 and a housing cover 7 (both only in Fig. 3 recognizable), which serves the mountability of the various components in the housing 1.
- housing head 5 is at least one leading into the suction chamber 4 suction 8 (IN) with an inlet valve assembly 9 and at least one leading from the pump chamber 4 discharge line 10 (EX) with an outlet valve assembly 11. All this is in the illustration to phase 2 in Fig. 1 located.
- phase 3 of the Fig. 1 is shown that the inlet valve assembly 9 an inlet valve opening 12 and a inlet valve opening 12 at positive pressure in the suction chamber 4 relative to the suction line 8 closing inlet valve body 13, designed here as a leaf valve has.
- the outlet valve arrangement 11 has an outlet valve opening 14 and an outlet valve body 15 which closes the outlet valve opening 14 at negative pressure in the suction chamber 4 relative to the discharge line 10, likewise here as a leaf valve.
- Fig. 1 shows that the structurally predetermined direction of movement of the inlet valve body 13 and the outlet valve body 15 substantially the gas flow direction at the corresponding valve opening 12; 14, and the inlet valve body 13 and the outlet valve body 15 are sufficiently movable in the gas flow direction at sufficient gas pressure from the respective gas flow at the inlet valve port 12 and the outlet valve port 14, respectively.
- the gas force on a valve results from the product of pressure difference (on the top and bottom of the valve) and valve surface.
- the pressure difference results from the generated vacuum in comparison to the discharge pressure and, in the case of multi-stage diaphragm pumps, from the interaction of the individual stages. At low pressures, this pressure difference becomes smaller and smaller.
- valves must therefore be as light as possible to be built for good final vacuum values, but on the other hand be mechanically stable so that they can withstand large gas forces at high intake pressures.
- the choice of materials is usually limited by the requirements in terms of chemical and thermal resistance.
- the valves must reliably seal the valve opening in the closed state and therefore preferably consist of a rubber-elastic material.
- the valves must not adhere or stick on the edge of the valve opening, as this would significantly worsen the achievable ultimate vacuum. Non-stick coatings on the valve or the edge of the valve opening can help reduce these effects.
- valves must be very compact, so that they can be accommodated as close to the pump chamber.
- Fig. 2 shows a typical compression curve of an exemplary membrane vacuum pumping stage according to the prior art in logarithmic representation.
- the compression is 20, ie a single-stage pump with this characteristic would reach a final vacuum of 50 mbar.
- the compression is still 12.5, ie a two-stage pump would achieve 4 mbar.
- the compression is only 6.5, corresponding to a final vacuum of a three-stage pump of 0.6 mbar.
- the compression is only 2, so that the four-stage diaphragm vacuum pump can achieve a final vacuum of 0.3 mbar. Higher increments hardly make sense, because the compression goes against 1.
- the sharp decrease in real compression to low pressures is essentially due to the degrading efficiency of the valves and the backflow losses at the valves.
- Oscillating positive displacement vacuum pumps operating with a piston as an oscillating element achieve significantly better final vacuum values than diaphragm vacuum pumps. This is due to the fact that larger strokes are possible with a piston than with diaphragm vacuum pumps. With diaphragm vacuum pumps, the maximum possible expansion of the diaphragm limits the stroke. The volumetric compression can therefore be much higher for piston pumps than for diaphragm pumps.
- the piston offers the possibility of not having the valves actuated, or at least not only by the gas flow, but to allow direct control of the gas flow from the piston, for example by gas inlet slots in the cylinder wall, or to support the action of the valves by the piston ,
- Such arrangements are for example in EP-A-0 085 687 as in DE-A-196 34 517 disclosed.
- DE-A-199 17 009 discloses a piston vacuum pump with both gas flow and mechanical piston actuated valves. Therefore, the real achievable compression is higher than in membrane vacuum pumps, especially at low pressures.
- piston vacuum pumps A disadvantage of piston vacuum pumps is that a sliding seal is required for the sealing of the piston against the cylinder wall. This tends to wear and tear quickly. In addition, this is not hermetically sealed like a membrane. When pumping aggressive or condensing media they enter the drive space below the oscillating element and can cause damage there by corrosion and lubricant leaching. Only diaphragm vacuum pumps therefore offer the possibility of reliably conveying even highly corrosive media under reduced pressure.
- valves are actuated, for example, electrically, magnetically or pneumatically. Most such valves are quite large and are therefore not arranged directly in the pump head, but at a certain distance from the pump head with lines. This can not be used for vacuum pumps, since the volume of the lines flows into the dead space.
- pumps are known ( DE 195 32 037 C1 ), which have in a pump body integrated suction and pressure valves.
- the suction and pressure valves are controlled electronically. By adjusting the phase position of the control of the valves, the pump can be switched from a suction operation in a pressure-conveying operation.
- a membrane pump used for microanalytics is known for pumping small quantities of liquids ( DE 10 2008 033 153 A1 ) having actively controlled by the piezoelectric or magnetostrictive actuators valve body for the inlet valve and the outlet valve. This is intended to ensure that the mechanical design of this liquid diaphragm pump does not specify a preferred pumping direction. By controlling the valve body can rather predetermine the conveying direction forward or backward.
- Membrane vacuum pumps also had approaches to externally actuated valves. So revealed DE-A-40 26 669 a vacuum pump with positively controlled valves with a variable in cross-section closure member, preferably of a piezoelectric material or of an elastic hollow body, which is pressurized. By changing the cross section of the inlet and outlet is opened and closed. For the required large cross sections very large piezo actuators would have been necessary, but then react very slowly because of their large mass. For the second approach with expandable flexible hollow bodies a very complex, fast, pneumatic or hydraulic actuation would have been required. The actuation of the valves takes place here exclusively externally, the pending differential pressure at the valve has little or no influence on the valve actuation.
- JP 2001-304114 A discloses a pump with externally controlled valves.
- volume changes of the pump chamber are detected via pressure sensors, based on which the actuation of the valve actuators takes place.
- the teaching of the present invention is based on the problem of providing a membrane vacuum pump which is suitable for suction-side low pressures, in particular less than 0.1 mbar.
- the diaphragm vacuum pump according to the invention is characterized in that the intake valve assembly is associated with an electric, hydraulic or pneumatic inlet actuator having a fixedly mounted on the housing head part and a coupled with the inlet valve body, driven moving part and that the inlet Is disposed opposite to the inlet valve arrangement such that the direction of movement of the movable part caused by the actuator with respect to the fixed part substantially coincides with the direction of movement of the inlet valve body caused by the gas flow, and / or that the outlet valve arrangement has an electrical, associated with a hydraulic or pneumatic outlet actuator having a housing mounted on the head part and a coupled with the outlet valve body, driven, movable part, and that the outlet actuator relative to the outlet valve assembly so on is ordered that caused by the actuator movement direction of the movable part relative to the fixed part with the direction of the gas flow caused by the
- the arrangement according to the invention is based on the approach of using an additional electrical, hydraulic or pneumatic actuator for actuating at least individual valve bodies of a membrane vacuum pump.
- actuation actuators are used, which are very compact, so that they can be integrated directly into the housing head of the diaphragm vacuum pump.
- the actuator to be used according to the invention or the actuators to be used according to the invention are intended to be able to actuate the valve bodies very quickly (typically 25 open / close movements per second) and this at a travel range of 0.1 to 1.0 mm for typical diaphragm vacuum pumps , If the respective actuator had to work against the forces of gas flow, this would require very powerful actuators, which are very expensive.
- the respective externally controllable actuator is arranged and controlled such that the forces resulting from the gas flow on the respective valve body support the associated actuator.
- the actuator does not act unaffected by the gas forces or even has to open or close the valve against the upcoming gas forces, but is supported by these.
- the valve arrangement is chosen so that the pending gas forces can act in the appropriate direction on the valve body of the valve, so that the valve acts according to its function as an inlet and outlet.
- the direction of movement of the valve, and thus of the actuator is aligned accordingly, ie substantially parallel to the forces resulting from the gas flow.
- the arrangement according to the invention reduces the requirements on the force which the actuator must apply so far that technically easy to implement actuators can be used.
- the reduced by many times forces also cause a correspondingly lower heat loss in the actuator, so that its cooling is simplified.
- the arrangement according to the invention allows the use of surprisingly small, compact and lightweight actuators, which accordingly also have sufficient speed with low power consumption.
- the pending gas forces will significantly outweigh the force caused by the actuator, ie the valve is predominantly operated by gas power.
- the actuator takes over the operation of the valve mainly alone and thus enables the functionality of the valve even at low pressures, so that significantly lower final vacuum values are possible than without actuator.
- the inlet and the outlet valve can be supported by an actuator, but also only the inlet valve or only the outlet valve. This also applies if several inlet and outlet valves are present at one pumping stage. In this case, arrangements are conceivable in which not all inlet and outlet valves of a pumping stage are supported by an actuator.
- an electronic drive which receives measurement signals of at least one measuring element for direct or indirect position determination of the diaphragm and based thereon controls the inlet actuator and / or the outlet actuator in accordance with the movements of the diaphragm and the direction of the gas flow caused thereby.
- Actuation of the actuator must be synchronous with the movement of the diaphragm. This is done according to the invention by a control.
- the current position of the diaphragm or of the driving motor - be it a linear drive or a rotating drive with elements for the translation of the rotating movement in an at least approximately linear - is determined by a measuring element z.
- B. determines a position sensor or a rotary encoder.
- the diaphragm position can be determined by direct reading of the drive, if it is a suitable drive, such as an electronically controlled linear drive or a synchronous motor.
- the movable part of the actuator is coupled to transmit power to the valve body in both directions of movement of the valve body.
- the valve body is attached to the moving part of the actuator. The movable part of the actuator and the associated valve body thus move here as a unit.
- the action of the actuator can be supported by a suitably designed spring, which - depending on the type of actuator - can cause the return movement, if the actuator can exert a force in one direction only.
- a suitably designed spring will be designed so that the resonance frequency of the complete system of actuator, spring and valve is approximately equal to or greater than the typical actuation frequency of the valve.
- piezo actuators for example, piezo actuators, magnetic drives, but also hydraulic or pneumatic drives can be used.
- magnetic drives e.g., solenoids or solenoids
- linear piezo drives or piezo bending actuators are used.
- the compact arrangement is optimized in that the fixedly mounted part of the actuator is arranged in a receptacle of the housing head.
- the invention also provides a vacuum pumping arrangement with a plurality of membrane vacuum pumps connected in series from the vacuum side to the pressure side.
- a vacuum pumping arrangement with a plurality of membrane vacuum pumps connected in series from the vacuum side to the pressure side.
- actuators which operate at low pressures, ie only the first diaphragm vacuum pump from the vacuum side and possibly the next or following two.
- the diaphragm vacuum pump according to the invention as in the case of the diaphragm vacuum pump known from the prior art, it firstly has a housing 1 with a diaphragm 2 therein, which is clamped peripherally in the housing 1 and is put into a tumbling rolling motion by a drive connecting rod 3 of a motor drive can.
- a housing 1 with a diaphragm 2 therein, which is clamped peripherally in the housing 1 and is put into a tumbling rolling motion by a drive connecting rod 3 of a motor drive can.
- Fig. 1 can be used accordingly for a diaphragm vacuum pump according to the invention for explanation.
- the housing 1 is a limited by the membrane 2 suction chamber 4, which is bounded by a housing head 5 of the housing 1 relative to the membrane 2.
- a housing head 5 of the housing 1 relative to the membrane 2.
- the housing head 5 is composed of a head cover 6 and a housing cover 7.

- the outlet valve arrangement 11 has an outlet valve opening 14 and an outlet valve body 15 closing the outlet valve opening 14 at negative pressure in the suction chamber 4.
- Fig. 3 shows by way of example a possible inlet valve arrangement 9 with actuator 16 of a membrane vacuum pump according to the invention.
- a membrane vacuum pump according to the invention may contain one or more such arrangements at one or more pump stages. In this case, an arrangement with longitudinal, so along its longitudinal axis, acting actuator 16 is shown.
- the inlet valve arrangement 9 in this schematic representation consists of an inlet valve body 13, which is actuated by an actuator 16, in this case consisting of a movable part 18 and a permanently mounted part 17.
- the inlet valve body 13 opens and closes the valve opening 12 in the head cover 6, and thus controls the gas flow from the intake 8 in the housing cover 7 in the pump chamber 4, which is periodically increased and decreased by the oscillating movement of the membrane 2.
- a negative pressure is created in the suction chamber 4, whereby a differential pressure is present at the inlet valve body 13, which presses the valve body 13 in the direction of the suction chamber 4.
- the actuator 16 supports this opening movement by the control 19, which receives a position signal of the membrane position from a measuring element 20, the signal to the actuator 16 is to extend the movable member 18. If at low differential pressures, the gas forces are not sufficient to actuate the valve body 13, the opening of the valve takes place solely due to the Aktuatorkraft. Description
EP-A-0 783 077 ,US 6,817,839 B2 ,DE-A-102 33 302 undDE-A-10 2006 021 535 offenbart. -
Fig. 1 eingezeichnet.

B.US 2,785,638 A ) und düsenbetriebenen Membranpumpen (siehe z. B.US 3,741,687 A ) eingesetzt.
So offenbart
