Definitions

  • the invention relates to a device carrier for holding devices in a vehicle.
  • a conventional equipment rack consists of a closed and preferably constructed in a sandwich construction with metal reinforcements housing, which is fire and smoke-tight and is attached with struts hanging or standing on the aircraft structure.
  • device carriers in open design, which are designed to be self-supporting. Equipment carriers are further connected via standardized interfaces, in particular with the electrical system for supplying the devices and a cooling system on the aircraft side for removing waste heat from the devices. Inside the device carrier, it is possible to make customer-specific adjustments.
  • DE 103 33 353 A1 discloses a device carrier for receiving and cooling electronic devices, in particular in an aircraft.
  • a disadvantage of previous solutions in equipment carriers in aircraft is that the previous equipment carrier are developed individually only for certain and the type of equipment of the aircraft predetermined devices individually, but not necessarily suitable for other devices to be retrofitted. If it is necessary to integrate new or initially not provided device in an existing equipment carrier, this has the consequence that, for example, relatively small devices block the available space, but at the same time not fully exploit the equipment rack. Accordingly, an oversized equipment carrier with a greater than necessary weight over a long term transported by plane. However, if the device to be subsequently integrated is too large for the existing equipment carrier, a new installation space within the aircraft must be found and examined in order to develop a device carrier suitable for the device to be integrated. All in all, common equipment carriers can not be used flexibly to accommodate devices of different designs and sizes.
  • the object of the invention is therefore to propose a device carrier which is set up for integrating a wide variety of devices in the equipment carrier, at the same time to reduce the development effort, to avoid changes to the structure and to use the space available in the aircraft as effectively as possible.
  • a device carrier which has at least one outer frame and at least one inner frame, wherein the outer frame to the structure of the vehicle is storable and the inner frame is attachable to or in the outer frame and means for forming of one or more subjects of variable size.
  • These means may be flat, frame-like, linear or punctiform elements, which are fastened displaceably approximately at fixed latching levels or continuously within the inner frame.
  • the inner frame preferably consists of a metal support which can be inserted into the outer frame.
  • the device carrier according to the invention can be modular and thus easily manufactured from standardized components or assemblies.
  • An outer frame may be mounted within the available volume of the vehicle to provide a fully usable, standardized packaging space that eliminates the need for space inspection and identification of mechanical tethering points when retrofitting equipment.
  • the outer frame is supplemented to a complete equipment rack.
  • the compartments preferably have inserts (so-called "trays") for the devices to be integrated, while the back wall (“backplane”) of the inner frame has connection points and interfaces, in particular for electrical supply and for connection to data networks or data buses.
  • the device carrier is preferably designed so that the outer frame, the vehicle-side and can completely absorb device carrier loads.
  • the outer frame is kept in different standard widths to cover various configurations for devices to be installed and can save as much weight by adapting to the necessary space.
  • the inner frame should be adaptable to the requirements of the device to be installed and it should be possible to install the devices inside the inner frame according to customer requirements.
  • a device carrier according to the invention it is possible with a device carrier according to the invention to combine different outer racks in modular design with each other, so that for later supplementing devices easily new standardized space can be provided, which is used by inner racks in an optimized manner.
  • the device carrier according to the invention has several advantages over device carriers from the prior art.
  • an inventive device carrier is subsequently relatively easy to expand, so that a certain flexibility is given for additional devices within the vehicle. Within the space of the vehicle, no additional installation space investigations are necessary because within the outer frame, a standardized space is available.
  • the object is further achieved by a use of a device carrier according to the invention in an aircraft, as well as by an aircraft with a device carrier according to the invention.
  • the basic structure of a device carrier according to the invention the Fig. 1 be removed.
  • the device carrier 2 according to the invention has an outer frame 4, in which an inner frame 6 can be attached.
  • the racks 4 and 6 are exemplified as frame racks, which have an at least partially clad frame structure.
  • This can be the outer Frame 4 optimally use the space offered in a cargo space and at the same time offer in its interior by means of the inner frame 6 standardized or individually compiled storage compartments 14 for receiving devices to be integrated.
  • the outer frame 4 has at least one exemplified at the top of the cooling air inlet 12 of the frame 4 through which, for example, provided by a central cooling system cooling air can be introduced after cooling the devices by a in Fig. 1 Cooling air outlet, not shown, the device carrier 2 can leave again.
  • the cooling air can also be absorbed by other openings in the equipment carrier 2, for example on the front or the underside of the equipment carrier.
  • the inner frame 6 is shown in the illustration Fig. 1 for example, several compartments 14, in which the devices are adjustable and fastened.
  • the compartments have 14 inserts ("trays") for the devices or the backplane ("backplane") of the inner frame 6 all necessary for wiring and powering the devices interfaces, especially for electrical supply and for connection to data networks or data buses.
  • the presentation is off Fig. 1 as a kind of shelving system, which provides approximately flat or frame-shaped elements 10 for forming subjects of variable size.
  • line-shaped or punctiform elements can be used, which are suitable for holding devices.
  • Shelving means 10 can be supported with locking means, mechanical attachment points or guides on the inner frame 6, wherein the locking means, connection points or guides could be provided on an outer frame of the inner frame 6.
  • An inventive device carrier 2 can be extended by means of various additional modules 16, if necessary.
  • the device carrier 2 according to the invention could be increased in its width with its special and adapted to the cargo hold of an aircraft form by a simple cuboid module attachment 16.
  • the module mounting 16 also has an outer frame 18, which also has at least one cooling air inlet 20 on one side. Even with a module mounting 16 cooling air inlets can be provided at other locations, such as at the front or the bottom.
  • Within the outer frame 18 is an inner frame 22, which in the example chosen has the same distribution as the inner frame 6 of the original and not extended equipment carrier. 2
  • a support 24 may be mounted on the cargo compartment floor 26 to which the device support 2 according to the invention could be screwed or otherwise secured.
  • the cooling air inlets 12 and 20, the air - shown here by way of example - from cooling air outlets 28 and 30, are arranged in the installed and equipped state of the equipment carrier 2 to a cooling air line 32.
  • the cooling air outlets in Fig. 1 are not shown are with exhaust ports 34 and 36 of an exhaust pipe 38, which remove the heated cooling air from the equipment carrier 2.
  • a complete assembly of a device support 2 according to the invention which is connected to cooling air outlets 28 and 30 and is mounted on the carrier 24 on the cargo compartment floor 26 is shown.
  • various devices 40 are integrated, on the dimensions of the compartments 14 are tuned, so that the space provided within the equipment rack available space is almost optimally utilized.
  • Within the equipment carrier 2 are left with the exception of the special geometric locations with sloping side walls hardly unused gaps.
  • the module mounting 16 comprises the outer frame 18, which has a substantially cuboid shape and as an outer frame 4 may be constructed of a honeycomb core material having a relatively low specific weight and yet a high strength. At the top of the cooling air inlet 20 can be found.
  • an inner frame 42 can be integrated, which has 4 rows of shelves 44, for example, in each of which three devices 40 can be integrated.
  • the inner frame 42 represents an individual implement carrier, which may also be referred to as a "subrack". This individual equipment rack 42 can be individually equipped for the operator of the vehicle or aircraft concerned and inserted into the standardized dimensions outer frame 18.
  • the space provided can be individually adapted to the number of necessary devices 40 by different cultivation modules in the form of outer frames 18 are provided, which are attachable to other, adjacent outer frame racks 4.
  • FIG. 3 this process is shown schematically, in which a functioning as a basic module combination of an outer frame 4 and an inner frame 6 with several incorporated devices 40 is already installed in the space provided for the aircraft. If even more devices 40 are required than originally provided on board the aircraft, another outer frame 18 can be easily attached to the originally installed outer frame 4, so as to increase the standardized space for receiving an individual equipment carrier in the form of an inner frame 42.
  • an empty attachment module 16 is shown on the lower right side in FIG Fig. 3 equipped with an individual equipment rack 42.
  • the individual fitting work would in this case be confined to connecting the supply and exhaust air ducts for the cooling air, of which the cooling air supply openings 12 and 20 can be seen, with cooling air ducts. Equally necessary is the loading of the add-on module 16 with necessary electrical wiring. However, since electrical cabling and piping are far more flexible to handle than creating individual space that must cope with large mechanical requirements, these individual fitting work no great demands on labor and design.
  • FIGS. 4a to 4c Possible variants of the device carrier according to the invention are in the FIGS. 4a to 4c shown in which a different number of devices 40 are disposed within the equipment carrier 2.
  • Fig. 4a shows the basic structure with only a basic module of an outer frame 4 and an inner frame 6, which hugs the sides of the cargo compartment of the aircraft.
  • Fig. 4b already serves an add-on module 16 for extending the device carrier 2 according to the invention, so that already a relatively large number of devices 40 can be accommodated.
  • the cooling air pipe 32 is for this purpose extended accordingly, as well as the exhaust duct 38.
  • Fig. 4c shows Fig. 4c , in which virtually the majority of the available width of the hold is occupied by various add-on modules 16.
  • the add-on modules 16 are not exclusively characterized by a cuboid shape extending over the entire height of the basic module, but also, for example, only over a part of this height, so that, as shown Fig. 4c about a passage or a recess can be created.
  • FIG. 5 a preferred embodiment for accommodating a device carrier according to the invention in a cargo hold of an aircraft illustrated in which the equipment carrier 2 extends substantially from a cargo hold floor 26 to a cabin floor 46.
  • the device carrier 2 provides an advantageous possibility of being able to respond particularly individually to the wishes of the vehicle operator when equipping a vehicle, with regard to the integration of (electronic) devices.
  • Each vehicle operator has his own preferences as to the choice of devices, thereby also their dimensions and energy consumption, so that in the prior art for each vehicle operator an individual solution for accommodating these devices must be found.
  • the solution according to the invention it is possible to respond to individual requests, without having to forego a modular design with standardized assemblies.
  • the modular design eliminates large fitting work, the workload is significantly lower and an adaptation to be replaced, to be supplemented or removed devices can be realized easily.
  • the device carrier according to the invention can also be used for safety-critical avionic devices that function of the aircraft are necessary and their selection is essentially not made by the aircraft operators.
