Claims (8)
- Bookbinding machine (100), comprising- a gathering machine (110) for gathering book blocks (B1, B2, B3...) with a collecting device (111) having a plurality of conveyor segments (T1, T2, T3...)- an adhesive binder (130) for processing the book blocks (B) to produce adhesive-bound brochures or books with a book block conveyor system (131) having a plurality of book block clamps (K1, K2, K3...) for conveying the book blocks (B) through processing stations such as a spine preparation station (132), an adhesive application station (133) and a cover feeding station (134) and- a transfer device (120) arranged between the gathering machine (110) and the adhesive binder (130) for transferring the gathered book blocks (B) from the collecting device (111) to the book block conveyor system (131),the gathering machine (110) and the adhesive binder (130) being actuated by a common control device (150) and
a respective conveyor segment (T) of the collecting device (111) being associated with a respective book block clamp (K) by the control device (150), characterised in that
the adhesive binder (130) has means (135) for detecting the position of a book block clamp (K) and means (136) for detecting a defective or missing book block clamp (Ki) and that the control device (150) has a program which, if a defective or missing book block clamp (Ki) is detected, actuates the gathering machine (110) in such a manner that no book block (Bi) is gathered for this book block clamp (Ki) in the associated conveyor segment (Ti). - Bookbinding machine according to one of the preceding claims, characterised in that the adhesive binder (130) has at least one sensor (135) for detecting the position of a respective book block clamp (K).
- Bookbinding machine according to one of the preceding claims, characterised in that the book block clamps (K) are numbered.
- Bookbinding machine according to one of the preceding claims, characterised in that a respective book block clamp (K) has an identification element, in particular an RFID tag or a bar code.
- Bookbinding machine according to one of the preceding claims, characterised in that the adhesive binder (130) has a detection device (136) in signal communication with the control device (150) for detecting defects or the absence of a book block clamp (K), the detection device (136) being designed as an optical sensor or camera.
- Bookbinding machine according to one of the preceding claims, characterised in that the control device (150) has a program which, if a defective or missing book block clamp (Ki) is detected, actuates the cover feeding station (134) of the adhesive binder (130) in such a manner that no cover (Ui) is provided for this book block clamp (Ki).
- Method of operating a bookbinding machine according to claim 1, characterised in that the book block clamps (K) are monitored by means (135) for detecting the position of a book block clamp (K) and means (136) for detecting a defective or missing book block clamp (Ki) and that, if a defective or missing book block clamp (Ki) is detected, the gathering machine (110) is actuated in such a manner that no book block (Bi) is gathered for this book block clamp (Ki) in the associated conveyor segment (Ti).
- Method according to claim 7 for operating a bookbinding machine according to claim 5, characterised in that the monitoring is effected by a detection device (136) that reports the information about the defective or missing book block clamp (Ki) to the control device (150).
