Definitions
- the invention relates to a device for connecting two electrical conductors, consisting of a designed as a piece of pipe metal clamp, which has in its wall at least two threaded through holes for receiving externally threaded clamping screws.
- Such devices are known and available on the market. They are used, for example, for connecting the conductors of power cables, which are preferably made of copper or aluminum.
- For fixing and contacting the conductor in the terminal clamping screws are used, which are designed for example as shear screws. The heads of such screws shear when reaching a certain moment, i. H. when reaching a sufficient contact force between the screw and the conductor.
- the contact force generated by the clamping screws establishes the connection of the conductors to the terminal and the connection of the individual wires of the conductors with each other. It should be maintained throughout the required life of the device.
- the electrical current flows in such a device from one conductor via the terminal to the other conductor with correspondingly relatively high contact resistance.
- the invention has for its object to make the above-described device so that the electrically conductive connection between the two conductors to be joined can be permanently improved.
- the two conductors are connected to this device in the terminal by the wedge-shaped tip of the fixing screw, which rests firmly against the end faces of the two conductors, directly and at least substantially without gap. A substantial portion of the current therefore flows through the advantageously wedge-shaped tip from one conductor to another.
- the solid abutment of the tip on the end faces of the two conductors is ensured in particular by the fact that the tip is screwed into the opposite direction to the external thread of the fixing screw in the same.
- the feed of the tip is thereby greater than the feed of the fixing itself. This ensures that the tip penetrates deep into the interior of the terminal and is pressed there between the end faces of the two conductors, without the pipe section of the terminal a must have particularly large wall thickness.
- the contact force generated is high and there is a permanent current-carrying contact between the end faces of the two conductors and the tip.
- the tip is preferably made of the same or a similar material as the conductors, the flow of current between the two conductors is further improved. Suitable materials are copper or aluminum as well as an aluminum alloy or brass.
- a central through hole for receiving a provided with a tip fixing screw is present in the pipe section of the terminal at two diametrically opposite points. There may also be more than two, distributed in the circumferential direction of the terminal through holes for receiving fixing screws mounted in the same.
- the rotatably arranged in the fixing screw tip should taper in the direction of its free end face and be preferably wedge-shaped. For the sake of simplicity, it will be referred to as "tip" in the following.
- Fig. 1 is an existing example of a tinned aluminum alloy, designed as a pipe piece terminal 1 shown.
- the clamp 1 has three threaded through-holes in each of which an externally threaded screw is arranged. These are each a clamping screw 2 in the two lateral through holes and a fixing screw 3 in the middle through hole, their more precise structure Fig. 5 evident.
- the terminal 1 protrude from two different sides forth the electrical conductors 4 and 5 of two electrical cables 6 and 7, which are preferably energy cables.
- the conductors 4 and 5 are with their end faces close to each other, in the amount of the central through hole for the fixing screw 3. They are executed in a preferred embodiment as Herdrähtige conductor and are advantageously made of aluminum or copper.
- the conductors 4 and 5 can also be constructed of segments, in which each individual wires are combined. Such conductors are, for example, Milliken conductors.
- the fixing screw 3 has according to Fig. 5 a screw head 8 and provided with an external thread screw body 9.
- the screw body 9 has on its side facing away from the screw head 8 a provided with an internal thread recess 10 into which a provided with an external thread tip 11 is screwed.
- the two external threads of the screw body 9 on the one hand and the tip 11 on the other hand are in opposite directions.
- the tip 11 of the fixing screw 3 is advantageously made of the same or a metallically similar material as the conductors 4 and 5 to be joined. Suitable materials are copper and aluminum as well as aluminum alloys and brass.
- the tip 11 can also consist of two, symmetrically separated from each other to their central axis materials, so that their one side, for example, made of copper and the other side made of aluminum or an aluminum alloy.
- a fixing screw 3 with a tip 1 thus executed can be advantageous for connecting an aluminum conductor a copper conductor can be used. The required position of the tip 11 is set before tightening the fixing screw 3.
- the surface of the tip 3 can also be structured. It can be roughened or equipped with a variety of small protrusions. Such a tip 11 has a slightly enlarged surface. It also results in the advance of the tip 11, a kind of milling effect, whereby the tight fit of the tip 11 is further increased at the ends of the two conductors 4 and 5.
- the terminal 1 is equipped with two fixing screws 3, which are diametrically opposed in two central through holes. It can also be used more than two fixing screws 3, which are offset as well as the corresponding central through holes in the circumferential direction of the terminal 1 against each other.
- Fig. 2 To produce a permanently effective electrically conductive connection between the conductors 4 and 5 are according to Fig. 2 first two fixing screws 3 screwed so far into the terminal 1 that their tips 11 protrude into the same. Also, the clamping screws 2, of which each side of the terminal 1 are also shown two diametrically opposite one another, can already be screwed into their through holes. But they do not protrude or only insignificantly into the terminal 1. Thereafter, the two conductors 4 and 5 are inserted into the terminal 1 until they hit the tips 11 of the two fixing screws 3. In this position, the conductors 4 and 5 are then tightened the clamping screws 2 to the tight fit, as it out Fig. 3 evident. Their heads are sheared off this end position of the clamping screws 2.
- the fixing screw 3 is intended, for example, to cover a distance of 1.5 mm in one revolution.
- the captured during the rotation of the fixing screw 3 tip 1 1 is additionally unscrewed from the recess 10 in this rotation about its opposite external thread. It puts, if it can not be rotated with the rotation of the fixing screw 3 from the beginning, the double way as the fixing screw 3 back. These are 3.0 mm for this example.
Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a device for connecting two electrical conductors, consisting of a designed as a piece of pipe metal clamp, which has in its wall at least two threaded through holes for receiving externally threaded clamping screws.
Such devices are known and available on the market. They are used, for example, for connecting the conductors of power cables, which are preferably made of copper or aluminum. For fixing and contacting the conductor in the terminal clamping screws are used, which are designed for example as shear screws. The heads of such screws shear when reaching a certain moment, i. H. when reaching a sufficient contact force between the screw and the conductor.
The contact force generated by the clamping screws establishes the connection of the conductors to the terminal and the connection of the individual wires of the conductors with each other. It should be maintained throughout the required life of the device. The electrical current flows in such a device from one conductor via the terminal to the other conductor with correspondingly relatively high contact resistance.
In multi-stranded conductors is added that the individual wires rubbing the same caused by tightening the clamping screw compressions together. As a result, a lower pressure is generated inside the conductor than at the surface thereof. In the connection of multi-stranded conductors with a large cross-section or segmented conductors, so-called "Milliken ladders", this can Cause problems. If the contact of the individual wires inside the conductor is insufficient, the heating will be above average. For aluminum ladders, the heating also leads to increased flow of the material and thus after a short time to a further decrease in contact pressure. The electrical connection between the conductors is then unusable relatively quickly.
The invention has for its object to make the above-described device so that the electrically conductive connection between the two conductors to be joined can be permanently improved.
- that in the pipe section of the clamp between the two through holes at least a central, threaded through hole for receiving an externally threaded fixing screw is attached, which has a tapered, such as wedge-shaped tip in the mounting position fixed to the end faces of the two in the pipe piece is inserted inserted conductor,
- that the provided with an external thread tip is screwed into a recess provided with an internal thread of the fixing screw and
- that the external thread of the tip is executed in opposite directions to the external thread of the fixing screw.
The two conductors are connected to this device in the terminal by the wedge-shaped tip of the fixing screw, which rests firmly against the end faces of the two conductors, directly and at least substantially without gap. A substantial portion of the current therefore flows through the advantageously wedge-shaped tip from one conductor to another. The solid abutment of the tip on the end faces of the two conductors is ensured in particular by the fact that the tip is screwed into the opposite direction to the external thread of the fixing screw in the same. When tightening the fixing screw, the feed of the tip is thereby greater than the feed of the fixing itself. This ensures that the tip penetrates deep into the interior of the terminal and is pressed there between the end faces of the two conductors, without the pipe section of the terminal a must have particularly large wall thickness.
Due to the preferred wedge shape of the tip and low friction of its thread, the contact force generated is high and there is a permanent current-carrying contact between the end faces of the two conductors and the tip. If the tip is preferably made of the same or a similar material as the conductors, the flow of current between the two conductors is further improved. Suitable materials are copper or aluminum as well as an aluminum alloy or brass.
In a preferred embodiment, a central through hole for receiving a provided with a tip fixing screw is present in the pipe section of the terminal at two diametrically opposite points. There may also be more than two, distributed in the circumferential direction of the terminal through holes for receiving fixing screws mounted in the same.
