Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a polymer layer composite for a security and / or value document, a method for its production and a security and / or value document which contains the polymer layer composite according to the invention.
  • Card-shaped data carriers are used, for example, to identify people and / or objects and / or for cashless payment transactions. They have, among other things, visually recognizable features which they clearly assign to a person and / or an object and / or a money or securities account and only allow the owner to identify himself or to have the object or account at his disposal and to initiate money transfers . For this reason, these data carriers must have security features that make it practically impossible for unauthorized persons to forge or forge the cards, so that misuse can practically be prevented. In addition, a forgery should also be easily recognizable.
  • Essential security features in the card-shaped data carriers are personalized and / or individualized features that are stored in the data carrier.
  • Personalized features are, for example, passport photos and data of the person to whom the card is assigned, for example the date of birth, the address or identification number in a company, as well as biometric data, such as a digitized data record of fingerprints, or the size, eye color of the person or their affiliation with a Health insurance.
  • Individualized features are data that are assigned to a specific device, such as a motor vehicle, a bank account or a security.
  • Such personalized and / or individualized features are applied individually to the card-shaped data carriers for the person using them. Therefore, the process for their generation must be designed to be flexible.
  • methods and devices for applying such data to card-shaped data carriers are in U.S. 6,022,429 A , US 6,264,296 B1 , US 6,685,312 B2 , US 6,932,527 B2 , US 6,979,141 B1 and US 7,037,013 B2 described, wherein the personalized and / or individualized features can be applied to the cards by means of inkjet printing technology, among other things.
  • this data is covered with a protective film (overlay film) after it has been applied.
  • a card which is essentially transparent to visible light which has at least one transparent or translucent card surface and which contains a material which can be recognized by a card reader in the infrared range and which is transparent to visible light, so that an activation sensor in the card reader is independent of this which position the sensor is facing on the card surface is activated.
  • the infrared materials can be applied to the card surface using a printing process, for example.
  • a non-opaque plastic card which is the same as in the case of the EP 1 222 620 B1 contains an infrared absorbing layer. Also in US 7,070,112 B2 a transparent card is indicated.
  • a translucent card is also described, which is used, for example, to open gates.
  • This card contains certain areas in an inner film in which the permeability for light is different from the permeability for light in another area. For this purpose, holes can be punched in the inner film, or dark spots of printing ink can be made on the inner film. The position the holes or spots codes for information.
  • a polymer layer composite for a security and / or value document according to claim 1 is disclosed, as well as a printing ink which enables printing up to 100% of the surface. This creates a special color impression.
  • the paint has a component with a molecular weight between 200 and 20,000.
  • a card which has a preferably opaque core in which a double-sided photo is inserted. One photo at a time can be seen from either side of the card.
  • EP 1 640 156 A1 discloses a polycarbonate multilayer film which consists of outer layers of polycarbonate and an intermediate layer of another polymer, the further polymer being polyamide or a polyamide blend.
  • the structure of conventional PC cards is described by two white PC layers, which are arranged above and below an inner layer.
  • a card which has at least one display device.
  • a personalization and / or individualization of cards based on polycarbonate typically takes place by means of laser engraving.
  • a laser beam is focused into the material and guided over the material.
  • the laser beam creates blackening inside through pyrolysis, which, depending on the laser intensity and duration, are of different intensity at the respective points.
  • an image or another graphic or also a lettering or a combination of numbers and / or letters can be generated.
  • this method it is not possible to generate colored pictures or graphics as well as text or number sequences, but only black and white representations. At most, it is also possible to a certain extent to generate gray tones / levels.
  • water-based inks can be easily scraped off layers that can consist of different polymers, for example polyolefins, polyesters, polycarbonates, and thus cause problems even before joining.
  • polymers for example polyolefins, polyesters, polycarbonates.
  • the present invention is initially based on the problem that a layer composite with personalized and / or individualized features that have been produced by printing technology can possibly be delaminated or split by unauthorized manipulations, so that it is desirable to find a method with which this is surely prevented.
  • pattern is used in the description of the invention and in the claims, this is to be understood as any kind of structured print reproduction that represents personalized and / or individualized information or also non-personalized and / or non-individualized information.
  • the structured print reproduction of non-personalized and / or non-individualized information includes regular patterns, for example background rasterization, guilloches, or characters, in particular alphanumeric characters, or even a one-dimensional or two-dimensional barcode or an emblem, logo, coat of arms, national emblem or seal Consideration.
  • two-dimensional printing area is used in the description of the invention and in the claims, it is to be understood as a surface area on a polymer layer that is covered by a printing layer in such a way that the printing ink or ink is applied without free printing areas therein is. This means that, apart from changes in color or density during the print job, at least when viewed with the naked eye, no structures can be recognized in the print layer. This means that the printing ink or color is printed over the entire surface. With halftone printing techniques, the halftone dots are present at all halftone positions.
  • digital printing process As far as the term "digital printing process” is used in the description and in the claims, it is to be understood as a printing process in which the data required for image generation are created digitally and for printing directly, as in the case of an inkjet printing process, or indirectly, as in a xerographic printing processes can be used to produce the print image without the need for an explicit printing form.
  • This is a non-impact printing process, i.e. a process in which no fixed printing form (a printing cylinder or a stamp) is used.
  • absorbent printing ink can therefore also have diffuse or directionally reflective properties.
  • Absorbent inks thus include colored absorbent inks, white diffuse inks, and metallic reflective inks.
  • a polymer layer composite for a security and / or value document for example for a passport, identity card, driver's license, an ID card, credit card, bank card, cash card, customer card or Visa card is proposed according to the invention, the at least two having cohesively interconnected polymer layers.
  • the format of these documents is preferably ID-1, ID-2 or ID-3.
  • In the composite there is at least one surface printed with a printed layer absorbing in the visible range on a polymer layer of the composite.
  • the absorbent printing layer forms at least one printing area, all of the printing areas on this surface of the polymer layer together having an area proportion of at least 50% and at most 95% of the surface.
  • the reference value for the area share is therefore the entire surface of one side of a polymer layer.

  • the starting point of the present invention is the knowledge that new types of security features can be generated in security and / or value documents if an internal surface in a security and / or value document is printed with a relatively large proportion of the total surface area without this document can be delaminated or split. It has been found that a security and / or value document, in which a printing layer is applied to an inner layer, can easily be delaminated or split because the printing layer acts like a separating layer. Such documents can therefore also be forged or falsified relatively easily. This disadvantage can occur in particular when the printing layer forms at least one contiguous two-dimensional printing area.

If an opaque inner polymer layer were used instead of a printing layer, the outer layers would collapse at the points of the layer composite where these free areas, for example punched-out areas in the opaque layer, are located. It is true that transparent or translucent materials could be inserted at the points where the free areas are located, for example transparent pieces of film or a transparent polymer in liquid form that hardens during lamination, for example.
