Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a shelf support made of a sheet metal with a flat storage area and lateral, folded folds.
Shelf supports with the features described above are known as components of shelving systems in a variety of designs and dimensions from practice, with shelves can be assembled from side shelves and shelves according to the respective requirements. In order to achieve a sufficient strength, especially in elongate shelves, it is known to produce at least on the long sides of the shelf support bends that are folded to increase stability. Especially in the field of commercial kitchens and in the medical sector shelf systems are required, which have a high load capacity, are easy to clean and are designed visually appealing.
In order to achieve a high load overall in known shelving systems, these can be equipped, for example with cross struts, which are arranged on the back of the shelf and connect the shelf stands together. However, especially with long shelf supports or high loads, there is a need to increase the payload of the individual shelf supports.
Against this background, the present invention seeks to provide a shelf support with the features described above, which has both a high load and is easy to manufacture.
This object is achieved in that at least two oppositely arranged folds by multiple folding from at least three layers of the sheet are formed. In comparison to the known embodiments, the production cost is only slightly increased, since only an additional rolling process is required. Due to the at least three-layer design of the fold a significant increase in the load can be achieved. Due to the number of folds provided, the load-bearing capacity can be additionally adjusted or increased in accordance with the respective requirements. The increase in stability through multiple folding not only affects the load, but also causes a particularly advantageous manner, a higher torsional rigidity of the shelf support.
The invention relates to shelf supports, in which at least two opposite, formed by multiple folding from at least three layers of the sheet metal bends are provided. In the case of elongate shelf supports, correspondingly multiply folded bends are expediently provided on the more heavily loaded longitudinal sides. Optionally, the short sides may have a fold that is unfolded in a conventional manner or double-layered by simple folding. In addition, it is basically also within the scope of the invention to provide all edges of the storage area with a fold, which is formed in each case by multiple folding from at least three layers of the sheet. By such a configuration, a particularly high strength and carrying capacity is achieved.
It is particularly advantageous that the shelf support can be made of a single piece of sheet metal. Even with large lengths of shelf supports no additional support elements are needed. The shelf supports according to the invention can thus also be stored and transported in a particularly space-saving manner in pairs if they are arranged with their undersides facing each other and slightly offset relative to one another.
To attach the shelf support according to the invention to a shelf stand, there are various possibilities. Thus, for example, be provided to hang the shelf support only on a shelf stand or to fix with additional holding elements. According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, however, holding devices are provided, which are arranged on two multiply folded, oppositely arranged folds. The holding devices can be formed, for example, as holding lugs or projections by notches of the metal sheet, which are preferably produced prior to forming the metal sheet to the shelf support. In the context of the described embodiment, the holding devices are integrally formed from the material of the shelf support, so that there is a particularly high strength, wherein the sheet is expediently repeatedly folded in the region of the adjoining the folds holding devices.
In addition to the ability to increase the carrying capacity of a shelf support for a given sheet thickness, the teaching of the invention can be used to reduce the required thickness of the sheet at a given load capacity, whereby a significant cost savings can be achieved.
In the production of the shelf support, the laterally provided folds can be generated both by multiple folding in the same direction or by mutual folding. While in a mutual folding the layers of sheet metal accordion-like connect with each other in a folding in the same direction, the side edge of the sheet is rolled up so to speak, and so arranged inside. This has the advantage that after cutting the sheet metal often sharp-edged side edge of the sheet is not additionally processed, for example deburred, must be. For galvanized, painted or otherwise coated before forming Sheet metal also has the advantage that the rolled-up side edge is protected to a certain extent against environmental influences, in particular corrosion. On the other hand, a reciprocal, accordion-like fold has the advantage that even bends with a large number of layers can be formed in a particularly simple manner.
According to one embodiment of the invention, it is provided that at the folds formed by multiple folding between two adjacent layers of the sheet, a gap is formed. The folds usually have a sheet metal portion which is arranged approximately parallel to the storage area. By the described embodiment, in particular the transverse stability of the bends can be further increased. In order to be able to continue to improve the carrying capacity of the shelf support or to reduce the thickness of the sheet, can also be arranged in the space formed a reinforcing element, for example in the form of a flat iron, a thick sheet or a hollow profile. The reinforcing element can be placed before the folding of the sheet on the sheet metal blank and subsequently rolled or pushed with the formation of the folds. In order to avoid slippage of the reinforcing element, this can be fixed, for example, with adhesive or individual welding points on the sheet.
The bends are preferably arranged approximately at a right angle with respect to the flat storage area. In a conventional horizontal orientation of the storage area, the bends are approximately perpendicular, so that, for example, a dripping of liquid is particularly well possible.
The multiply folded folds may also each have a bend in addition to the at least two folds, whereby the overall visual impression is changeable and a further increase in stability can be achieved.
The shelf supports can be formed in the invention of different materials such as stainless steel, steel and aluminum and provided before and after folding with a coating. The sheet may for example be galvanized, painted or provided with a similar corrosion protection coating. Depending on the application, the shelf support can be made such that it has no open cavities. In the context of such an embodiment, the entire shelf support is easy to clean, which is particularly advantageous for use in the medical field or in the field of commercial kitchens.
The present invention is not limited to shelf supports with a full-surface flat storage area. In addition, the present invention also includes, for example, shelf supports with a storage area, which is designed as a sheet metal grid, wherein the storage area has openings in the form of slots or holes.
