Claims (11)

  1. A method of producing components (2) with a predetermined surface appearance,
    in which method the components (2) are printed by a printing process, which can be programmed in respect of the resultant appearance, to form a predetermined pattern,
    wherein an ink-jet printing process is used for printing, in which dyeing fluids of different colour are sprayed from different nozzles,
    wherein the components (2) are situated on a conveyor device (8) which comprises a conveyor belt (12) which is moved over rollers or cylinders (10) and for the drive of which a motor (22) is provided,
    wherein nozzle bars arranged one behind the other in conveying direction are provided, which extend transversely over the conveyor belt (12) and each of which has a row of colour nozzles,
    wherein the nozzles can be selectively controlled by a computer (36) and in each case spray only one colour,
    wherein the surface to be printed is pretreated before the printing so as to match the surface to be printed and the dyeing fluids to one another, and
    wherein the surface printed with the predetermined pattern is provided with a transparent coating.
  2. A method according to Claim 1, wherein the surfaces to be printed comprise wood.
  3. A method according to Claim 1, wherein the surfaces to be printed comprise plastics material.
  4. A method according to any one of Claims 1 to 3, wherein three-dimensional surfaces are printed.
  5. A method according to any one of Claims 1 to 4, wherein a fluid supply and a fluid feed are provided for the colour nozzles.
  6. A method according to any one of Claims 1 to 5, wherein a control apparatus provided for control purposes has the computer (36), a keyboard (38) and a display screen (40).
  7. A method according to any one of Claims 1 to 6, wherein sensors (30,32,34) are provided, which detect the position and/or size of a component (2) situated on the conveyor belt (12)
  8. A method according to any one of Claims 1 to 7, wherein to adjust the distance between the colour nozzles and the surface of the component (2) to be printed the printing head can be moved perpendicularly to the surface of the conveyor belt (2)
  9. A method according to Claims 7 and 8, wherein the sensors (30,32,34) are connected to inputs (42) of the computer (36), the drives for the printing head and the control leads for controlling the printing head are connected to outputs (44) of the computer (36), and data are entered via a further input (46) of the computer (36), which data indicate the pattern which is to be created by the printing head.
  10. A method according to any one of Claims 1 to 9, wherein in one printing head different colour nozzles are provided which are fed with differently coloured dyeing fluid.
  11. A method according to Claim 10, wherein the printing head is fed with three dyeing fluids, which together result in black, and are fed with black-coloured dying fluid.
