  • data located on the mail item in the first mail distribution center is detected by a reading device.
  • the data collected is at least information that uniquely identifies the item of mail and information about the recipient of the item.
  • These acquired data are transmitted to a first data processing unit in the area of the first mail distribution center and processed there.
  • diversion orders of the determined recipient are taken into account.
  • the invention further relates to an arrangement of devices for carrying out the method.
  • the method envisages that, after the mailing task, the consignment surfaces provided with the addresses are scanned, the recipient details are read and the ascertained recipient data are searched in a redirection database in which redirection orders are stored with names and delivery addresses.
  • the disposition trigger receives an identifier, which is also a searchable component of the stored redirection order.
  • the items are stored under the respective identifier and a serial number, and the dispenser is electronically made available by the dispatch service information about received shipments.

Several shipments are assigned to a delivery route in the area of the inbox center and thus also an assignment to a handheld of a delivery agent takes place. Here, the handheld, the package IDs are assigned to the belonging to a delivery program shipments, so that the deliverer can read the package IDs if necessary from the shipments of his delivery route.
