Description

The present invention relates to an improvement in the surface treatment of parts using the principle of immersion in one or more tanks for the treatment and transfer of parts between these tanks, in particular the electrochemical treatments of surfaces of metal parts, and more particularly a treatment by anodizing aluminum parts.
Examples of anodic treatments of aluminum and its alloys are anodic anodization or anodic passivation, porous anodization in an acid medium or anodic dissolution, or even electrolytic polishing, hard anodizing or self-colored.

The present invention relates in particular to an improvement of a treatment plant and more particularly of its parts conveyor chain.

Surface treatment installations of aluminum parts operating in batches are already known. The document DE 2 119 401 describes such an installation, comprising motorized trolleys running over several treatment tanks. The trolleys are provided with movable arms making vertical movements to plunge batches of objects to be treated in successive bins and out of them. This document relates more specifically to a safety braking system of its trolleys.

In the French patent application No. 0603687 , and in the patent application WO2006 / 00199 , the contents of which are incorporated herein by reference, the applicants have already described surface treatment facilities of parts comprising a plurality of processing tanks arranged in series and each equipped with a rotary drum provided with means for temporarily fixing parts to process and whose axis is mounted horizontally in rotation so that the major part of each drum is immersed in a treatment liquid contained in the corresponding vessel, and a conveying system intended to supply each drum with parts to be treated and to remove from said drum the parts already treated.

These parts are placed on cassettes, such as those disclosed in the patent application EP-A-1,433,537 , said cassettes being placed on the periphery of a pivoting drum. The conveying system comprises two parallel chains, arranged on either side of the tanks, whose conveying axes are perpendicular to the axes of the rotary drums. Each cassette passes alternately from one chain to another after passing through a treatment tank. This conveying system therefore requires a drive device for each chain and several transfer devices between the chains and the tanks.
The present invention provides an improvement to the transfer system of the parts to be treated.

For this purpose, the invention proposes a room surface treatment installation comprising a plurality of treatment tanks arranged in series, equipped with rotary drums provided with means for temporarily fixing workpieces, and whose axes are mounted horizontally in rotation so that the major part of each drum is immersed in a treatment liquid contained in the corresponding tank, and a conveyor chain for supplying each drum with parts to be treated and to remove from said drum parts already treated, installation wherein said conveying is on a general axis, the axes of the drums being parallel to each other and parallel to the general axis of the conveyor chain.

Preferably, the axes of the drums are arranged substantially in the same vertical plane and the general axis of the conveyor chain is arranged in the vertical plane containing the axes of rotation of the drums.

According to a particular embodiment of the surface treatment plant of parts according to the invention, the periphery of a drum comprises a succession of rails or rails with an axis parallel to the axis of rotation of the drum, intended to receive cassettes supporting a set of parts to be treated, the cassettes being intended to do with the drum on which they are fixed a complete turn in the treatment liquid, while the conveyor chain is intended to supply cassettes of parts to treat the drum and to remove from the drum the cassettes of parts already treated, the conveyor chain is disposed above the tanks, and the general axis of conveying is parallel to the axis of rotation of the drums and disposed in the vertical space comprising the tanks.

In this installation, the drums can be arranged so that their pairs of slides that momentarily come to the upper position emerge from the process liquids and are aligned with each other, so that all transfers can be performed simultaneously.

This installation may include transfer slides arranged between two successive tanks and aligned with the slides of the drums in the upper position.
This installation may include means for spraying parts at the transfer slides.

According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, the parts transfer operations of the conveyor chain are timed and synchronous.

According to one embodiment of the invention, the conveyor chain comprises at least one movable carriage moving back and forth on a guide rail in order to achieve by this displacement the clearance, by horizontal translation, of one or several cassettes comprising the parts already processed, and the establishment, also by horizontal translation, of one or more cassettes comprising the parts not yet processed.

The mobile carriage may comprise a motor connected to a pinion cooperating with a rack to ensure its movements back and forth on the rail.

The lower part of the carriage may comprise a horizontal control bar which carries at least one vertical arm terminated by an actuating part, while the control bar is retained at the bottom of the carriage by means of two pivoting rods, the pivoting rods ensuring the movement downwards and upwards of said bar.

Other features and advantages of the invention will become apparent from the description which follows with reference to the accompanying drawings which are given by way of non-limiting examples.
  • The figure 1 is a side view of the installation.
  • The figure 2 is a top view of the installation.

  • The Figures 4 and 5 are detailed views of a movable carriage of the conveyor chain in two different positions.

The Figures 1 and 2 illustrate an installation for surface treatment of metal parts such as, for example, anodizing of aluminum parts, which requires a succession of tanks (4) containing different liquids, such as degreasing liquid, satinizing liquid, electrolytic solution, rinse aid, etc. One of the treatment tanks is filled with an electrolytic solution, for example sulfuric acid, and makes it possible to anodize aluminum parts fixed on cassettes. For this type of treatment the tank comprises two electrodes while the drum is supplied with electric current of polarity opposite to that of the electrodes, said electric current being transmitted to the parts to be processed via the drum and cassettes successively, as this is described in the French patent application No. 0603687 applicants whose contents are incorporated herein by reference. According to the method implementing the treatment plant of the invention, each piece is immersed in each tank, making it do at least one rotational movement such as air bubbles and air pockets likely to be created inside the tank in contact with the part are driven, allowing the treatment liquid to treat the entire surface of the part, making the treatment perfectly homogeneous.

A predetermined number of said pieces to be treated are placed beforehand on a support or cassette (5) comprising at least one holding member adapted to retain each of they. The cassettes are for example those described in the European patent application EP-A-1,433,537 , which comprise a set of parts holding members for fixing on a single cassette several parts. The conveyor chain (14) comprises a plurality of carriages (9) to engage the cassettes of workpieces on the drums and to disengage the cassettes of processed parts from each of the drums.

As illustrated by figure 3 , one or more complete rotations of 360 ° are made, by fixing the parts (1) to be treated on the periphery of a drum (2) rotatably mounted in each treatment tank (4) around a horizontal axis (X, X '), said drum being immersed in the treatment liquid (3) contained in the tank (4), with the exception of its upper portion, which is outside the liquid to allow the introduction and the removal of parts. According to the illustrated embodiment, the drum (2) comprises, at its outer periphery, a succession of 6 pairs of slides (6) intended to receive the cassettes (5) serving to support the parts to be treated. Thus the cassettes comprising the parts not yet treated are engaged by horizontal displacement in the free slide and not immersed, disposed at the top of the drum. The axis of sliding of each of the slides (6) is parallel to the axis of rotation of the corresponding drum.

The tank (4) comprises a motor (7) for rotating the pivoting drum (2) by the cooperation of a toothed wheel (70) with a succession of rods (71) mounted parallel to each other, and between two flanges of one of the sides of the drum, such as the driving ring, as described in the French patent application No. 0603687 .
The entire conveyor chain illustrated in the Figures 1 and 2 operates in sequences of synchronous and synchronous movements. At each of the sequences in the short tanks, a treated cassette is disengaged and a new untreated cassette is engaged on a drum, and then immersed during the rotation of the corresponding drum, to make a complete turn, in the treatment liquid. . In the 4 th vessel, which contains a drum of a length equivalent to four cassettes, these are four complete revolutions and four translations before being released. The conveyor chain comprises a feed station (15), a release station (16), and a transfer zone between the 2nd and 3rd tank longer than the other, which can be used spray station with a rinsing liquid.

For each tank, the conveyor chain (14) comprises at least one associated carriage (8), making a limited movement back and forth on a guide rail (9) to allow, by this movement back and forth, the release of one or more cassettes comprising the parts already treated, and the establishment of one or more cassettes comprising the parts not yet treated.

Each of the carriages (8) comprises a motor connected to a pinion cooperating with a rack to ensure its movements back and forth on the rail.
At its lower part the carriage (8) comprises a horizontal control bar (10) which comprises at least one vertical arm (11a, 11b) for retaining an actuating piece (12). This actuating piece is intended to slide the cassette out of pieces already treated, that is to say those having made a complete revolution in the liquid and engage the next cassette parts not yet treated. The control bar is retained at the bottom of the carriage by means of two pivoting rods (17a, 17b), the pivoting rods ensuring the vertical movement of the bar. Thanks to the pivoting rods (17a, 17b) the control rod moves downwards and upwards parallel to itself.
The Figures 4 and 5 illustrate the operation of a mobile carriage (8). Thus, as illustrated in figure 4 , the carriage (8) in the release position is such that the horizontal bar (10) is in the upper disengagement position, which allows the carriage to move upstream of the chain, according to the arrow D, for a new action. Once in the action position, the horizontal bar is moved downward, as shown in FIG.
the figure 5 , so that the actuating part (s) 12 can come into the plane of the cassettes (5), then the carriage (8) moves downstream of the chain, according to the arrow (A), in the opposite direction of that of the clearance (D), to engage in the slide (6) a new cassette, and advance a position of a cassette and / or clear the cassette parts already processed. We will observe that on the figure 5 the vertical arm (11a) pushes the left cassette, while the vertical arm (11b) simultaneously pulls the second cassette and pushes the third cassette.

The person skilled in the art will in particular have deduced from the description above that contrary to the patent application WO2006 / 00199 , where there is provided a double conveyor chain which is arranged laterally and whose general axis extends perpendicularly to the axis of rotation of the drums, in the installation of the invention the conveyor chain (14) is arranged above the tanks, and the general axis of conveying is parallel to the axis of rotation of the drums and is arranged in the vertical space (E) comprising the tanks, and the general axis of conveying (Z, Z ' ) is parallel to the axis of rotation of the drums, and advantageously arranged in the vertical plane (P) containing the axis of rotation (X, X ') of the drums.

Of course, the invention is not limited to the embodiment described and shown by way of example, but it comprises numerous technical variants as well as their combinations:
So, the figure 3 illustrates a drum with six cassette attachment positions. This number could be different. With, for example, only two fixing positions, it is possible to make a small tank requiring little treatment liquid, in particular for a fast treatment stage. In this case, the structure of the drum is not necessarily cylindrical or hexagonal but can be reduced to two arms. Thus, the respective durations of the successive processing steps can be modulated with each other thanks to the number of different fixing positions on the drums. .

The conveyor chain could use only one motor, the movements of all the mobile carriages taking place via a system of mechanical drives.
The cassettes mentioned above are particularly suitable for processing a large number of small parts. In the case of the treatment of large parts, they can be fixed directly on a drum, or by other means of attachment as slides.
