Definitions
- the invention relates to a floor panel explained in the preamble of claim 1 Art.
- Floor panels which are built up of layers, so-called laminate floors, are known in large numbers. They usually consist of a core of a pressure-resistant wood-based panel (HDF or MDF), a leveling layer, a layer of decor paper and an upper wear-resistant layer, which usually consists of a cured, highly resistant paint or resin. The fire resistance of these floor panels is given only insufficient.
- HDF pressure-resistant wood-based panel
- MDF leveling layer
- a layer of decor paper a layer of decor paper
- an upper wear-resistant layer which usually consists of a cured, highly resistant paint or resin. The fire resistance of these floor panels is given only insufficient.
- a floor panel of this kind is from the WO 97/47834 known.
- the known floor panel has a layer structure, but does not have a fire-retardant layer.
- the edge portions are coated with a densifying agent, which may be an impregnating agent, a pore filler, a varnish, a resin, an oil, a paraffin or the like.
- the US 2003/0022577 describes a fire-retardant panel in which all layers of the layer structure are fire-retardant.
- the panel includes layers having a backing of a woven or non-woven fabric, such as glass fiber, or paper which is fire retardant impregnated, for example, with an inorganic filler having loess or melamine resin as the main component.
- the US 2002/0160680 describes a decorative laminate unit designed for application to a solid substrate, for example fiber cement.
- the decorative unit or cover laminate contains a surface layer that contains abrasive particles and is impregnated with melamine resin, an underlying decorative printed layer that is untreated and a core layer containing at least one layer of a PETG base.
- the GB 2 053 798 describes a layer structure in which again the upper layer consists of a resin impregnated glass fiber fabric. Below this glass fiber layer, a thin metal foil is provided which, although not flammable itself, but introduces the heat very quickly and completely into the combustible substrate; The fire retardation must therefore be achieved through the cover layer.
- the EP 1 493 878 describes a floor panel with a mechanical locking system, a decorative layer and a core of wood-based material. It is further provided a cold-ceramic coating, which has good fire retardant properties. However, this coating is provided on the underside of the core, and is located at a location that does not form an abutting edge to the adjacent floor panel.
- the EP 1 593 791 describes a fire-resistant, plate-shaped material having at least one carrier layer of wood material and a fire-retardant outer layer.
- the outer layer can also be a decorative coating.
- the invention is therefore an object of the invention to provide a floor panel with increased resistance to fire.
- the fire retardant layer according to the invention provides a floor panel with improved fire resistance in a simple manner, with the fire retardant being achieved by combining the fire retardant layer with a fire retardant coating at least at the abutting edges.
- the fire retardant layer should have sufficient thickness to develop its fire retardant effect.
- a thickness between 0.01 mm and 3 mm is preferred.
- the coating of the fire-retardant edge is preferably carried out with a mixture of kaolin and sodium silicate, and is preferably applied by spraying.
- Fig. 1 shows a floor panel 1, which is not formed according to the invention and facilitates the understanding of the invention.
- the outer shape and shape of the floor panel is arbitrary, the floor panel 1 may be provided for example as a board or plate.
- the floor panel according to the invention is designed as a rectangular plate, which on at least two opposite sides with a mechanical locking system 2 is provided.
- the locking system 2 includes a first profile 2a and a corresponding second profile 2b, each extending along opposite longitudinal edges of the floor panel 1 and are formed so that the first profile 2a of a floor panel and the second profile 2b of an adjacent, further floor panel can be connected to each other in a suitable manner so that the floor panels 1 are locked in the floor composite both horizontally and vertically.
- Such mechanical locking profiles are known in large numbers; and the invention is not limited to the specific construction of the locking profiles nor to the special construction of any connecting elements between the individual floor panels 1. Rather, the invention can be formed both in the illustrated mechanical locking systems as well as locking systems without horizontal locking, such as tongue and groove boards. Furthermore, the locking systems, as shown, profiles on two opposite, or on all sides of the floor panel have.
- the floor panel 1 is preferably a so-called laminate and contains a layer structure 3.
- the layer structure 3 comprises a core 4 made of a wood-based panel of higher strength, such as an HDF or an MDF board.
- the layer structure 3 further contains a decorative layer 5.
- the decorative layer 5 usually consists of a layer of paper or other material having a printed or otherwise produced decor.
- any decor layer known in the art may be provided.
- the decorative layer 5 is preferably covered by a protective layer 6.
- any known protective layer for the floor panels can be used, e.g. a durable paint or resin coating.
- the layer structure 3 of the floor panel 1 according to the invention further comprises a fire-retardant layer 7.
- the fire-retardant layer 7 is made of a material which is suitable for inhibiting the flaming of the fire side facing away from the panel, ie, depending on the exposure to fire, either to prevent or greatly delay.
- the floor panel 1 can be classified in a higher fire protection class (eg according to DIN EN13051 - 1), as would be the case with a floor panel without the layer 7 but otherwise with the same structure.
- the fire-retardant layer 7 is made of a non-combustible material.
- the fire retardant layer 7 may be present as a mat (woven or nonwoven) of fibers, such as glass fibers.
- the thickness of the fire-retardant layer 7 can be adapted to the specific application and / or the desired fire protection classification and / or the materials used and is preferably between 0.01 and 3 mm, particularly preferably between 0.05 to 1 mm. Particularly preferred as the fire-retardant layer 7, a glass fiber mat with the following features is used.
- ⁇ b> TABLE 1 ⁇ / b> Product features and test methods property Reference to examination procedure unit Specification (nominal) grammage ISO 536 g / m 2 50 loss on ignition ISO 1887 % 22 tensile strenght md ISO 1924/2 N / 50 mm > 190 cmd N / 50 MM > 160 air porosity at 100 Pa l / m 2 / s 2000
- the product consists of glass fibers with a nominal length of 6 mm and a nominal diameter of 10 to 11 ⁇ m.
- the fiberglass mat is bound with polyvinyl alcohol.
- the fire-retardant layer 7 is arranged in the layer structure 3 as far as possible, ie as close as possible to the space in which the floor panel 1 is laid, facing side of the floor panel 1, ie between the decorative layer 5 and the core 4; and is from the room in which the floor panel 1 is to be laid, only through the cover layer 6 and the decorative layer 5, which are both relatively thin, separated. In this way, the thick, combustible core 4 is optimally shielded against fire in the laying room.
- the fire-retardant layer 7 extends over the entire width of the core 4 and ends at end faces, shown are only the opposite end faces 4a, 4b, the core 4, which abut in the finished floor covering to corresponding end faces of the adjacent floor panels, so that a gapless over the floor covering extending, fire-retardant layer 7 is formed.
- the fire-retardant design of the floor panel can be further improved by at least portions of the edges 8 of the floor panel fire retardant (fire-retardant or flame retardant) are configured.
- the edges 8 are the side surfaces of the floor panel which extend around the periphery of the floor panel and have a substantially vertical orientation in the finished floor covering.
- the edges 8 contain, in particular, an abutting edge region 8a, which adjoins directly the covering or decorative layer 5, 6 and preferably extends perpendicularly thereto.
- the abutting edge regions 8a abut in the finished floor covering at corresponding abutting edge regions of adjacent panels.
- the edge 8 still contains the profiles 2a, 2b of the connection system, which may also comprise surfaces having a horizontal or oblique orientation.
- the edge 8 according to the invention is fire-retardant.
- a fire-retardant coating 9 which is at least partially applied to the edge 8, preferably around the floor panel 1 around.
- the coating should in any case cover that portion of the edge 8 which faces the direction of the presumed firing load, ie the abutting edge region 8a.
- the coating 9 is applied to other areas of the edge 8, in particular to the upwardly, ie in the direction of the cover and decorative layer 5, 6, facing surfaces of the connecting profiles 2a, 2b and on all others, at the abutting edge region 8a subsequent areas.
- the coating 9 cover the entire edge of the decorative and cover layer 5, 6 to the bottom. But even at edges 8, which show a connection profile, it increases the security against penetration of the flames, when all areas of the edge 8 are provided with the coating 9.
- the coating 9 is preferably present as a more or less viscous liquid, so that it can be applied by spraying or spraying, brushing, rolling or other coating methods.
- the coating 9 is applied by means of two spray nozzles 10, which are directed obliquely from above onto the edge 8, so that the coating 9 is applied in a direction which approximates the direction of the fire application, so that it can be ensured in that all possibly exposed regions of the edge 8 are also covered with the coating agent 9.
- the coating composition 9 preferably comprises a mixture of kaolin and sodium silicate in aqueous solution. Both kaolin and sodium silicate are commercially available and can be used in commercial purity and composition. The amount of coating per unit area depends on the absorbency of the substrate and other factors, and can be easily determined experimentally. In principle, however, any material can be used for the edge coating which, even with a relatively thin layer thickness (so that the impact between adjacent panels in the floor covering does not become too large and disturbing), meets the standards (for example EN 13501-1 or EN ISO 9239-1 ) has sufficient fire retardancy.
- the floor panel 1 may have a different layer structure 3, wherein, for example, further layers may be provided.
- a footfall sound insulation layer may be provided in the core or above the core.
- the material for the fire-retardant layer 7 should preferably be selected such that the fire-retardant layer requires as little or no additional manufacturing steps as possible. This is achieved, for example, by providing the fire-retardant layer 7 with an impregnation, in particular if a glass-fiber mat is used for this purpose.
- the impregnation may contain, for example, melamine resin, which is used in the manufacture of floor panels as impregnating agent for the decorative layer. By using the same impregnating agent for decorative and fire retardant layer, it is possible to compress the fire retardant layer 7 together with, for example, the decorative layer 5 by applying pressure and / or heat to the core 4.
- Impregnation of the mat, particularly the fiberglass mat, with melamine or other means may further result in an increase in strength (e.g., against impressions caused by larger punctiform loads).
