Fig. 2 zeigt ein Ausführungsbeispiel der erfindungsgemäßen Maschine nach Anspruch 1 und insbesondere die Integration der Vorrichtung zur Änderung der Anordnung der Bogenvorderkante und der Bogenhinterkante relativ zur Bogenförderrichtung in die Maschine. Ein in Taschenfalzwerken parallel gefalzter Bogen wird zu einem ersten Schwertfalzwerk transportiert und durch das Schwert 1 mit einer Schwertbewegung a zwischen die Falzwalzen 3.1 und 3.2 gepresst und dort gefalzt. Der Bogen wird mit der Bruchkante voraus nach unten transportiert. Durch ein Leitblech 4 wird der Bogen zwischen das gegenläufige Walzenpaar 5.1 und 5.2 geleitet. Diese befördern ihn dann mit der Bruchkante voraus in eine Tasche, welche Teil der Vorrichtung zur Änderung der Anordnung der Bogenvorder- und -hinterkante relativ zur Bogenförderrichtung 7 ist. Diese ist auf die Gesamtlänge des gefalzten Bogens eingestellt, so dass der Bogen ganz in die Tasche einfährt, wobei der Bogen das Walzenpaar 5.1, 5.2 verlässt. Dabei ist die kinetische Energie des Bogens ausreichend, um den Bogen ohne zusätzlichen Antrieb komplett in die Tasche zu befördern. Unter Zuhilfenahme einer Auswurfvorrichtung 8 wird der Bogen mit seiner ehemaligen Hinterkante voraus - also mit seiner offenen Seite voraus - zwischen die gegenläufig drehenden Walzen 5.2, 5.3 geschoben und weiter in Richtung des zweiten Kreuzbruches transportiert. Zur Verbesserung des Einlaufs der offenen Seite in die Walzen 5.2, 5.3 können im Bereich des Einlaufs gesteuerte Niederhaltefinger 9 zum Einsatz kommen. Ein nachgelagertes Messerwellenpaar 6.1, 6.2 kann der weiteren Bearbeitung des Bogens dienen. Mittels einer Transporteinrichtung 11 wird der Bogen weiter bis zum zweiten Falzschwert 2 transportiert. Eine vordere Ausrichteeinheit 10.2, eine hintere Ausrichteeinheit 10.1 und eine Bogenhinterkantenführung 10.3 positionieren den Bogen für den zweiten Kreuzbruch. Dabei sind 10.1, 10.2 und 10.3 entlang der Bogenförderrichtung A verstellbar in einer Verstellbewegung b. Der Bogen wird durch die Transporteinrichtung 11 bis zur vorderen Ausrichteeinheit 10.2 transportiert und fährt dort gegen einen Anschlag. Dabei wird der Bogen an seinem hinteren Ende von der Bogenhinterkantenführung 10.3 geführt. Sobald der Bogen mit seiner Vorderkante die vordere Ausrichteeinheit 10.2 berührt, wird an der hinteren Ausrichteeinheit 10.1 ein Anschlag in wirksame Position verbracht. Dadurch kann der Bogen an seiner geschlossenen Hinterkante ausgerichtet werden. Der Abstand der Anschläge von vorderer Ausrichteeinheit 10.2 und hinterer Ausrichteeinheit 10.1 entspricht der Bogenlänge. Zur Detektierung der Bogenposition kommen Sensoren 12 in einer dem Fachmann bekannten Weise zum Einsatz.
Nach dem zweiten Kreuzbruch wird der Bogen in Bogenförderrichtung A in Richtung der definierten, in der Regel mittigen Position des dritten Schwertfalzwerkes I weitertransportiert.
