Definitions
- the invention relates to a filter device, in particular for the filtration of air in vehicles, for example combustion air in internal combustion engines or air for the vehicle interior, according to the preamble of claim 1.
- An intake filter for an internal combustion engine of a vehicle which comprises a filter element as a plurality of filter bags, which are arranged in the engine compartment of the motor vehicle.
- the filter bags are made of a flexible filter material and are flowed through by the supplied combustion air radially from outside to inside.
- the purified combustion air is supplied via the interior of the filter bags an air collection box to which the filter bags are connected and which is connected to the cylinder inlets of the internal combustion engine.
- An advantage of this suction filter is that the filter surface and thus the filter performance can be adjusted by the number and design of the filter bags to the respective needs as a function of the selected internal combustion engine.
- the invention is based, to improve the separation efficiency of a filter device with simple measures the task.
- the filter device has a filter element designed as a filter tube, the filter wall of which flows radially through the fluid to be cleaned.
- the filter wall is provided with a microfiltration layer which consists of nanofibers.
- this nanofiber layer can be made very thin so that the entire thickness, seen in the radial direction, of the filter wall including the nanofiber layer is barely larger than without this layer.
- the nanofiber layer allows a considerable increase in the degree of separation.
- the nanofiber layer is arranged on the outflow side of the filter wall of the filter tube, so that an increasing degree of separation is provided in the direction of flow. Larger particles of dirt settle on the upstream side of the filter wall, the finest particles of dirt are retained by the nanofiber layer on the downstream side of the filter wall.
- the nanofibers are expediently produced from a polymer-based fiber material; they consist, for example, of PES (polyethersulfone), PP (polypropylene), PA (polyamide) or PC (polycarbonate or polyester).
- the filter material from which the filter wall of the filter bag consists is expediently based on synthetic material, in particular polymer-based. In principle, however, filter materials are also suitable on a natural basis, in particular based on cellulose.
- the filter wall has an increasing density from the inflow to the outflow side. This is advantageously done with discrete filter layers achieved, in particular with two filter layers, of which the inflow side facing layer is formed as a coarse filtration layer and the outflow side facing layer as a fine filtration layer. On the outflow side of the fine filtration layer is the ultrafine filtration coating of nanofibers, so that three layers or layers are provided in total in cross section of the filter wall.
- the filter device with the coated filter tube can be used in different structural configurations.
- such a filter tube has a high stability and a large filter area, at the same time the filter tube is flexible both in the axial direction and in the radial direction.
- a concertina effect is achieved, which means that a deflection of the filter tube axially or radially from its unloaded starting position automatically returns as soon as the filter element is again free of external forces.
- the coated filter tube is accommodated in a carrier tube of solid material, in particular of plastic, wherein the inner diameter of the carrier tube is greater than the outer diameter of the filter tube, so that between the outer jacket of the filter tube and the inner jacket of the carrier tube, an annular space for the flow of the fluid is formed.
- the carrier tube can have different courses, which due to the flexibility of the filter tube can also be executed by it.
- the filter device according to the invention is particularly suitable for the filtration of combustion air in internal combustion engines, preferably for internal combustion engines of commercial vehicles.
- the application is not limited to this; Rather, a filtration is generally of gaseous and optionally also of liquid fluids into consideration.
- FIG. 1 is a schematic representation of the engine compartment of a motor vehicle with filter device arranged therein for filtering the combustion air, wherein the filter device is designed as a carrier tube with filter tube accommodated therein,
- FIG. 2 shows a section through the wall of the filter tube, which has a coarse filtration layer on the upstream side and a fine filtration layer on the downstream side, wherein a coating with nanofibers is additionally provided on the fine filtration layer on the downstream side,
- Fig. 3 is a perspective view of a filter tube, in the wall folds are introduced.
- Fig. 1 the engine compartment 1 of a motor vehicle is shown with internal combustion engine 2 arranged therein.
- the cylinder inlets of the internal combustion engine 2 is supplied via a port 3 filtered combustion air, which is filtered in an upstream filter device 4.
- the filter device 4 consists of a support tube 5, which takes over the function of the filter housing, and a filter tube arranged in the carrier 6, which extends over the axial length of the support tube 5.
- the filter tube 6 in the carrier tube 5 has a smaller cross-section, whereby an annular space 8 is provided between the outer jacket of the filter tube 6 and the inner jacket of the carrier tube 5, extending between the axial end faces of the carrier tube and the filter tube extends and represents a flow space for the combustion air.
- the carrier tube 5 with the filter tube 6 extends between the vehicle front 7 and the opening 3, which is associated with the intake ports of the internal combustion engine 2.
- the combustion air flowing against the vehicle front 7 is introduced axially into the interior of the filter tube 6, the opposite end face of which is closed.
- the unpurified combustion air is therefore forced to flow through the filter walls of the filter tube 6 radially, whereby the entrained in the combustion air dirt particles are deposited.
- the clean air flows axially through the annular space 8 between the filter tube 6 and support tube 5 to the opening.
- the annular space 8 acts as a raw side and the interior of the filter bag as a clean side.
- the wall of the filter bag 6 is shown in section.
- the arrow 12 indicates the flow direction, the inflow side is marked at 13 and the outflow side at 14.
- the filter wall has a multilayer structure and comprises a coarse filtration layer 9 on the inflow side 13 and a fine filtration layer 10 facing the outflow side 14.
- This fine filtration layer 10 is provided on the outflow side with a microfiltration coating 11 made of nanofibers.
- the Filter wall in the flow direction 12 of the fluid to be filtered seen a multilayer structure, wherein the density or the degree of separation increases from layer to layer.
- the thickness of the microfiltration coating 11 is negligible compared to the thickness of the other two layers 9 and 10.
- the thickness of the microfiltration coating 11 is a maximum of one tenth, possibly even one hundredth of the thickness of the two layers 9 and 10 taken together.
- the diameter of the nanofibers is advantageously less than 1 .mu.m and is in particular in a range between 50 nm to 500 nm.
- a filter tube 6 is shown in a perspective view, the filter wall is constructed in the manner shown in Fig. 2.
- the filter tube 6 has a plurality of folds 16, which are arranged distributed in the axial direction and in the circumferential direction. Some of the folds 16 have filter edges 17, which enclose an angle with the longitudinal axis 15 of the filter element-or with a longitudinal center plane-that is, at an angle relative to the longitudinal axis.
- the filter tube receives a balger motivation structure that gives him a high stability and high flexibility at the same time both in the longitudinal and in the radial direction.
- the filter device is particularly suitable for the filtration of combustion air in internal combustion engines. But it is also one Application for the filtration of the vehicle interior air or generally for the filtration in vehicles possible.

Abstract
