Abstract

A DC power supply device maximizes voltage boosting performance according to the air conditioner load. In a DC power supply device for an air conditioner that rectifies an AC voltage from a AC power supply (1) to a predetermined DC voltage that is supplied to a load (11), the DC power supply device is feedback controlled so that the DC voltage equals the target voltage determined according to the speed of the compressor (9) and the operating mode of the air conditioner, and the target voltage used in the heating mode is set higher than the target voltage used in the cooling mode. When operating in the cooling mode, which requires operation under high outdoor temperature conditions, sufficient DC voltage can also be supplied in the heating mode, which requires a higher DC voltage when the outdoor temperature is low.
