Definitions
- the invention relates to the field of exhaust gas turbochargers for increasing the performance of heavy fuel-powered internal combustion engines. It relates to a blade of an axial turbine of an exhaust gas turbocharger.
- EP 0 781 897 known to introduce a cleaning liquid into the flow channel for cleaning the exhaust gas turbine.
- the cold cleaning fluid is usually entered before the nozzle ring and in front of the turbine blades in the flow channel.
- the dirt dissolves from the nozzle ring and the blades and is transported for the most part via the exhaust system to the outside. Part of the dirt accumulated during operation as well as part of the cleaning of the nozzle ring and the Blades of loosening debris are thrown radially outward onto the diffuser by the rotating blades. This is thus contaminated both during operation and during cleaning.
- the distance between the tips of the blades and the diffuser can be reduced to zero by the contaminants so that the blades can be braked by the dirt on the diffuser during operation. This leads to friction losses, additional heat generation and damage or even destruction of the blades.
- the object of the invention is to improve a blade of an axial turbine of an exhaust gas turbocharger to the extent that the radial ejection of dirt during operation can be prevented.
- the object is achieved in that the blade is provided in the region of the blade tip with a protective plate for collecting the dirt. The accumulated on the blade surfaces and radially thrown outwards dirt is thus retained and contamination of the diffuser is prevented.
- Fig. 1 shows a single blade of an exhaust gas turbine with axial flow.
- the blades are connected to the blade carrier 3 and rotate about the axis of the turbine.
- the blades include a blade root 12 in the region where the blade is connected to the blade carrier.
- the blades are inserted with specially trained feet in grooves in the blade carrier and held by a fastener in the blade carrier.
- Blade carrier and blades form the turbine wheel and can also be made in one piece.
- the blades include blade surfaces 10 which are exposed to the flow of hot exhaust gas. The flow acts on the blade surfaces and thus drives the turbine wheel.
- a protective plate 2 is arranged according to the invention.
- the fender serves to catch the entrained in the flow dirt, especially oily residues which have not been completely burned in the combustion chambers of the internal combustion engine.
- the fender is disposed on the radially outer edge of the blades so that the debris can be collected, which are due to the fast-rotating blades transported radially outward.
- the dirt particles are involved on the one hand to those that have accumulated on the blade surfaces 10, and on the other hand to those that are thrown directly radially outward by the strong rotating flow.
- FIG. 2 shows a plan view in the radial direction of an arrangement with a plurality of blades mounted in the blade carrier 3.
- the exhaust gas flow is indicated by the two thick arrows.
- the blades rotated from the blade root 12 to the blade tip 11 are arranged obliquely with respect to the flow and form a kind of pocket in the axial direction in which the dirt particles can accumulate.
- This bag is closed radially outward by the fender, so that the accumulated in the bag dirt can not be thrown from the range of the rotating turbine wheel.
- the fender has a floor plan with four sides, with two opposite sides parallel to each other. The one side pair runs perpendicular to the axis of rotation of the turbine wheel.
- the mudguards of juxtaposed blades engage with each other at an angle to the axial direction sides, so that forms a circumferential ring of mudguards on the radially outer edge of the blades, which can also act as a stabilizing effect on the blades in addition to the function of dirt collection.
- Fig. 3 serves to illustrate an advantageous embodiment of the inventive blade.
- the fender 2 projects beyond the blade tip 11 in the circumferential direction.
- the fenders are formed in the less loaded region of the blade tip with a tapered cross section.
- the protective plate is thicker in cross section for reasons of strength.
- the fender can be provided with two or more, outer projections, so that, in the case of two projections, a U-shaped cross-section results.
- the described, different thickness of the mudguard in such a case refers to the cross plate 22, which connects the two legs 21 forming said projections together.
- the cross plate 22 is, as shown in Figures 4 and 5, formed thicker in the region of the blade tip than in the blade tip projecting region.
- Fig. 6 shows a further advantageous embodiment of the inventive blade, in the illustrated variant on the fender according to FIGS. 4 and 5 building.
- the radially inner, the blade tip 11 facing side of the mudguard is slightly curved.
- a vault 23 forms around the blade tip, in which the dirt particles drifting radially outward can be collected and stored until the next turbine cleaning.
- the curvature prevents the dirt particles move radially outward due to the high centrifugal forces.
- FIG. 8 and 9 serve to illustrate a further embodiment of the inventive blade.
- 9 shows a view in the direction of the arrow on a section through the blade guided along IX-IX.
- the protective plate in the region of the blade tip, is slightly shorter on one side, so that the blade tip 11 projects beyond the protective plate in the circumferential direction.
- the blade tip of a first blade is covered by the guard of an adjacent second blade.
- the blade height is slightly shortened ( ⁇ h) in the region of the protruding blade tip, by removing the corner of the blade tip which projects beyond the protective blade. The result is an inwardly drawn corner.
- ⁇ h slightly shortened
- FIG. 7 schematically shows a section through the flow channel of an exhaust gas turbine, with a rotor blade 1 according to the invention.
- the rotor blade is arranged downstream of the guide blade 4 of a nozzle ring.
- a downstream-oriented diffuser 5 Radially outside the blade, a downstream-oriented diffuser 5 is arranged, and for technical reasons fluid with a small radial distance from the blade tips 11.
- the fender 2 is provided.
- the protective plate is designed such that two projections reduce the radial distance to the fixed diffuser to a minimum.
- the protective plate is arranged in the flow direction behind and in the radial direction outside a circumferential edge of the outer nozzle ring wall such that the flow channel in the region of the rotor blades is bounded radially outwardly by the protective plate. The flow is not affected by the fender.
- the diffuser 5 has a minimum inner radius, which is greater than the maximum outer radius of the turbine wheel including the blades mounted thereon.
- the turbine wheel can be easily assembled and disassembled from the gas outlet side without having to remove the diffuser.
- the resulting step in the flow channel immediately downstream of the blade has no effect on the efficiency of the turbine.
- this step assists in the removal of the dirt accumulated on the radially inner side of the mudguard during cleaning of the turbine wheel by injecting a cleaning liquid upstream of the nozzle ring.
- the flow over the trailing edge of the mudguard in the area of this stage causes the dirt dissolved by the liquid to be carried away easily.
- a separate, exchangeable housing part can also be arranged in the area radially outside the rotor blades of the turbine wheel, which has an increased wall thickness in comparison to the diffuser in order to take over burst protection functions.

Abstract
Description
The invention relates to the field of exhaust gas turbochargers for increasing the performance of heavy fuel-powered internal combustion engines. It relates to a blade of an axial turbine of an exhaust gas turbocharger.
The use of exhaust gas turbochargers to increase the performance of internal combustion engines is now widespread. In this case, the exhaust gas turbine of the turbocharger is driven by the exhaust gases of the internal combustion engine and their energy used for sucking and compressing air for the internal combustion engine. Depending on the specific operating situation and in particular the composition of the fuels used to drive the internal combustion engine, the exhaust gas turbine will sooner or later foul the nozzle ring and the rotor blades. In heavy oil operation, a hard dirt layer sometimes forms on the affected components. Such dirt deposits lead to a poorer turbine efficiency and consequently to a reduction in the performance of the internal combustion engine. In addition, there is an increase in the exhaust gas temperatures and the pressures in the combustion chamber, whereby the internal combustion engine and in particular their valves can be damaged or even destroyed.

The object of the invention is to improve a blade of an axial turbine of an exhaust gas turbocharger to the extent that the radial ejection of dirt during operation can be prevented.
According to the invention, the object is achieved in that the blade is provided in the region of the blade tip with a protective plate for collecting the dirt. The accumulated on the blade surfaces and radially thrown outwards dirt is thus retained and contamination of the diffuser is prevented.

Fig. 1 shows a single blade of an exhaust gas turbine with axial flow. The blades are connected to the
Fig. 3 serves to illustrate an advantageous embodiment of the inventive blade. The
Fig. 6 shows a further advantageous embodiment of the inventive blade, in the illustrated variant on the fender according to FIGS. 4 and 5 building. The radially inner, the
9 shows a view in the direction of the arrow on a section through the blade guided along IX-IX. In this embodiment, in the region of the blade tip, the protective plate is slightly shorter on one side, so that the
Die Strömung wird dadurch durch das Schutzblech nicht beeinträchtigt.7 schematically shows a section through the flow channel of an exhaust gas turbine, with a
Advantageously, the
Instead of the
