Definitions
- the invention relates to a method for closing an extended nip of a smoothing arrangement for smoothing a paper, board, tissue or another fibrous web in a machine for producing and / or finishing the same, which is formed between a smoothing roll and a counter-roll arranged thereunder. wherein the smoothing roll has a flexible roll shell, which is pressed by a pressing element to the counter roll.
- the invention further relates to a smoothing arrangement according to the preamble of claim 8.
- the flexible roll shell Because of the width of the smoothing roll, which can reach values of 10 m, the flexible roll shell has a slack when the nip is open due to its own weight. The sag is largest in the middle of the roll.
- the calendering nip After transferring the fibrous web, the calendering nip is closed with rotating smoothing and counter-rolling rolls.
- the center of the roll mantle first comes in contact with the mating roll, which can lead to an increased load on the center of the roll mantle and to a tearing off of the fibrous web.
- the object of the invention is therefore to reduce in particular the risk of tearing the fibrous web with the simplest possible means.
- the pressing surface extends largely straight in the axial direction, it is prevented in the adjacent roll shell that this sags. Thus, it is ensured when closing the smoothing nip that the roll shell over its entire length substantially simultaneously comes into contact with the counter roll.
- the speed of the roll mantle should coincide with the peripheral speed of the mating roll.
- the roll shell from uneven stress and the fibrous web are preserved from too high a load due to a differential speed between the roll shell and the counter roll, which only occurs in certain regions.
- the pressing element is pressed as a jacket clamping means before or during the closing of the nip in the direction of the backing roll, that the roll shell over its entire length rests against the pressing surface of the pressing element, the roll shell only after the counter-roll is brought into contact.
- the roll mantle is tensioned by means of jacket clamping means before or during the closing of the smoothing gap, preferably in the form of guide rails extending axially in the roll shell, which press the roll mantle radially outwards outside the press element the roll mantle bears against the pressing surface of the pressing element over its entire length, the roll mantle only then being brought into contact with the mating roll.
- the jacket clamping means acts radially counter to the pressing direction of the pressing element and thus raises the roll shell until it lies completely against the pressing surface of the pressing element.
- the jacket clamping means can also act obliquely with a direction of action, preferably on both sides and symmetrically to the press plane.
- the roll shell is pressed out of the circular shape with a component transverse to the pressing direction and thereby tensioned. As a result of this tensioning, the roll shell is attracted to the pressing element.
- the guide rails extend axially over the entire length of the roller and provide during operation for a cylindrical shape of the flexible roller shell.
- the roll shell during the closing of the calendering nip on the jacket suction means preferably in the form of the suction openings provided with the pressing element is sucked to the pressing surface of the pressing element.
- the suction openings must be connected only to a vacuum source.
- the lubricant is sucked out of the roll shell, which reduces the weight.
- the suction of the roll mantle can also be used as the sole means of achieving the inventive task.
- the air pressure in the roll shell is increased during the closing of the calendering nip, the air pressure being higher than during the operation of the smoothing roll.
- the smoothing and backing rolls may have a flexible roll shell which allows the formation of a flat extended nip.
- the counter-roller is cylindrical, which is why the pressing member has a concave pressing surface to form an elongated smoothing nip.
- the smoothing nip of the smoothing arrangement of a paper machine is formed by a smoothing roll 2 and a cylindrical counter-roll 3 arranged underneath.
- the smoothing roll 2 has a flexible roll shell 4 made of fiber-reinforced plastic, which is pressed to form a prolonged smoothing gap of a pressing member 5 with concave pressing surface to the counter roll 3.
- the extended nip Due to the extended residence time of the fibrous web 1 in the nip, the extended nip causes a significant improvement in the smoothing result while at the same time protecting it.
- the flexible roll shell 4 is supported from the inside over a plurality of axially extending guide strips 6.7. While a guide strip 6 is arranged on the opposite side of the pressing element 5, in each case a guide strip 7 is symmetrical to the pressing plane 9 in the two lower quadrants of the smoothing roller. 2
- the shaping is further assisted and counteracts sag that the air pressure in the roll shell 4 is increased during the closing of the calendering nip, wherein the air pressure is higher than during operation of the smoothing roll 2.
- the fibrous web 1 is only completely passed through the open nip before it is closed.
- the roll shell 4 is accelerated to the same speed as the counter roll 3, but also the roll shell 4 during the closing of the smoothing gap with the protruding parts of the concave Pressing surface of the pressing element 5 brought into contact.
- the roll shell 4 Since the pressing surface in the axial direction is largely straight, thus the roll shell 4 has in the region of the smoothing gap over its entire length substantially the same radial distance from the roll axis.
- the clamping of the roll shell 4 is characterized in that the pressing element 5 is pressed as a jacket clamping means before or during the closing of the smoothing gap in the direction of the backing roll 3, that the roll shell 4 is applied over its entire length partially against the pressing surface of the pressing element 5.
- the roll shell 4 is held by the guide rails 6, 7.
- these suction openings 8 which are connected to a vacuum source and so suck the roll shell 4 to the pressing member 5.
- Figure 2 shows an embodiment in which the roll shell 4 before or during the closing of the smoothing gap on jacket clamping means in the form of axially extending in the roll shell 4 guide strips 7, which press the roll shell 4 outside of the pressing member 5 radially outward, is so stretched in that the roll shell 4 partially bears against the pressing surface of the pressing element 5 over its entire axial length.
- the guide rails 7 in the two lower quadrants of the smoothing roller 2 act here obliquely, but symmetrically to the pressing plane 9 and press the roll shell 4 so transversely to the pressing plane 9 from its circular shape.
- the roll shell 4 is stabilized on the side opposite the pressing element 5 side by a guide bar 6.

Description
The invention relates to a method for closing an extended nip of a smoothing arrangement for smoothing a paper, board, tissue or another fibrous web in a machine for producing and / or finishing the same, which is formed between a smoothing roll and a counter-roll arranged thereunder. wherein the smoothing roll has a flexible roll shell, which is pressed by a pressing element to the counter roll. The invention further relates to a smoothing arrangement according to the preamble of
Because of the width of the smoothing roll, which can reach values of 10 m, the flexible roll shell has a slack when the nip is open due to its own weight. The sag is largest in the middle of the roll.
As a result, more lubricating oil collects in the center of the roll on the inside of the roll shell than at the edges, which further enhances this effect.
After transferring the fibrous web, the calendering nip is closed with rotating smoothing and counter-rolling rolls.
Due to the slack, the center of the roll mantle first comes in contact with the mating roll, which can lead to an increased load on the center of the roll mantle and to a tearing off of the fibrous web.
This results in particular from the fact that the roll shell in the region of the smoothing gap also has a higher rotational speed than at the edges of the roll shell due to its greater radial distance from the axis in the middle region.
The object of the invention is therefore to reduce in particular the risk of tearing the fibrous web with the simplest possible means.
According to the invention the object was achieved by the features of the characterizing part of
Since the pressing surface extends largely straight in the axial direction, it is prevented in the adjacent roll shell that this sags. Thus, it is ensured when closing the smoothing nip that the roll shell over its entire length substantially simultaneously comes into contact with the counter roll.
In addition, this also ensures that the speed of the roll mantle in the region of the smoothing gap in the central region coincides with that on the edges of the roll mantle.
The speed of the roll mantle should coincide with the peripheral speed of the mating roll.
As a result, the roll shell from uneven stress and the fibrous web are preserved from too high a load due to a differential speed between the roll shell and the counter roll, which only occurs in certain regions.
For this purpose, it is advantageously possible that the pressing element is pressed as a jacket clamping means before or during the closing of the nip in the direction of the backing roll, that the roll shell over its entire length rests against the pressing surface of the pressing element, the roll shell only after the counter-roll is brought into contact.
In general, this leads to the fact that the pressing element is pressed beyond its operating position in the direction of the counter roll and thus clamps the roll shell.
After contact of the roll mantle with the mating roll, the pressing element can then be relieved again.
In addition or separately, however, it may also be advantageous if the roll mantle is tensioned by means of jacket clamping means before or during the closing of the smoothing gap, preferably in the form of guide rails extending axially in the roll shell, which press the roll mantle radially outwards outside the press element the roll mantle bears against the pressing surface of the pressing element over its entire length, the roll mantle only then being brought into contact with the mating roll.
In this case, it is possible that the jacket clamping means acts radially counter to the pressing direction of the pressing element and thus raises the roll shell until it lies completely against the pressing surface of the pressing element.
In addition to this or independently, however, the jacket clamping means can also act obliquely with a direction of action, preferably on both sides and symmetrically to the press plane.
As a result, the roll shell is pressed out of the circular shape with a component transverse to the pressing direction and thereby tensioned. As a result of this tensioning, the roll shell is attracted to the pressing element.
The guide rails extend axially over the entire length of the roller and provide during operation for a cylindrical shape of the flexible roller shell.
At least in addition to these measures, it is also advantageous if the roll shell during the closing of the calendering nip on the jacket suction means, preferably in the form of the suction openings provided with the pressing element is sucked to the pressing surface of the pressing element.
For this purpose, the suction openings must be connected only to a vacuum source.
In this case, the lubricant is sucked out of the roll shell, which reduces the weight.
If the suction forces are sufficiently large or the roll mantle is correspondingly light, the suction of the roll mantle can also be used as the sole means of achieving the inventive task.
In order to counteract the sag of the roll shell, it is also advantageous if the air pressure in the roll shell is increased during the closing of the calendering nip, the air pressure being higher than during the operation of the smoothing roll.
To form an extended press nip, the smoothing and backing rolls may have a flexible roll shell which allows the formation of a flat extended nip.
Predominantly, however, currently the counter-roller is cylindrical, which is why the pressing member has a concave pressing surface to form an elongated smoothing nip.
Particularly in the case of the concave pressing surface, it is sufficient for all solutions if the roll shell is brought into contact only with the radially protruding regions of the pressing surface during the closing of the smoothing gap.
