By this screw threaded bolt member 100 the flexible legs 64 are therefore secured to the mounting platen.
  • each pin member 96 is located between part of the peripheral lip 86 and the inner lip 90 of the mounting platen 6.
  • the pin member 96 of the coupling means acts to couple to the orbital sanding shoe 84 to prevent its free rotation.
  • the orbital sanding shoe 84 when mounted on the drive unit, the orbital sanding shoe 84 is secured to the spindle of second drive shaft 62 by means of the same nut 70 and washer 72 used to secure the random orbit sanding platen 8 of Figure 10 .
  • the orbital sanding shoe 84 is substantially flat, and is provided, on its upper major surface in the orientation shown in the Figure, with coupling means 92 shaped to cooperate with the coupling means 96 of the mounting platen 6.
  • the coupling means 92 each comprise a hollow right-cylindrical stub, projecting upwards from the surface of the sanding shoe 84.
  • the hollow right cylindrical projection 92 is shaped so that it provides a recess into which the pin member 96 of the mounting platen fits.
  • One side of the cylindrical projection 92 on the sanding shoe 84 fits between the peripheral lip 86 of the mounting platen 6 and the outer surface of the pin member 96 of the mounting platen 6; and the opposite side of the cylindrical projection 92 on the sanding shoe 84 fits between the inner lip 90 of the mounting platen 6 and the opposite outer surface of the pin member 96 of the mounting platen 6.
  • the sanding shoe 84 and mounting platen 6 are therefore securely located substantially to prevent relative movement between the mounting platen 6 and the sanding shoe 84 in a plane perpendicular to the axis of the bearing 60. Relative movement parallel to the axis of the bearing 60 is, of course, prevented by the nut 70 and washer 72 attachment.
  • the coupling means 96 and 92 are non uniformly spaced over the surface of the mounting platen 6 and the sanding platen 84, those on one lateral side of the platens (the right as shown in Figures 12 and 13 ) being further apart from each other than those on the other lateral side of the platens (the left as shown in the Figures).

Claims (25)

  1. Angetriebenes Schleifgerät (2) umfassend:
    ein Gehäuse (4) mit wenigstens einem Griffabschnitt, der eine ergreifbare Oberfläche (22) hat, die einen ersten und
    einen zweiten konkaven Abschnitt (26, 28) und einen dritten konkaven Abschnitt (24) zwischen dem ersten und
    dem zweiten konkaven Abschnitt hat, und
    einen Motor (18), der in dem Gehäuse zum Betätigen eines Arbeitselements des Werkzeugs angeordnet ist, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass der dritte konkave Abschnitt zwischen dem ersten und zweiten konkaven Abschnitt bei der Benutzung an einer Seite des Gehäuses entfernt von einem Arbeitselement des Werkzeugs angeordnet ist.
  2. Angetriebenes Schleifgerät nach Anspruch 1, wobei die ergreifbare Oberfläche im Wesentlichen sattelförmig ist.
  3. Angetriebenes Schleifgerät nach Anspruch 1 oder 2, ferner mit einer Platte (6), die an dem Gehäuse (4) an einer Seite davon entfernt von dem wenigstens einen Griffabschnitt angebracht ist.
  4. Angetriebenes Schleifgerät nach Anspruch 3, wobei die Platte (6) einen schmaleren Abschnitt an einem vorderen Ende davon aufweist.
  5. Angetriebenes Schleifgerät nach Anspruch 3 oder 4, wobei die Platte (6) in einer Längsrichtung des Werkzeugs nach innen zusammenläuft.
  6. Angetriebenes Schleifgerät nach einem der Ansprüche 3 bis 5, wobei ein Großteil des Gehäuses (4), sofern in einer Längsrichtung gemessen, bei der Benutzung über der Platte (6) angeordnet ist.
  7. Angetriebenes Schleifgerät nach Anspruch 6, wobei ungefähr zwei Drittel des Gehäuses (4), sofern in der Längsrichtung gemessen, bei der Benutzung über der Platte (6) angeordnet sind.
  8. Angetriebenes Schleifgerät (4) nach einem der Ansprüche 3 bis 7, wobei im Wesentlichen das gesamte Gehäuse (4), sofern in einer Richtung quer zu der Längsrichtung gemessen, bei der Benutzung über der Platte (6) angeordnet ist.
  9. Angetriebenes Schleifgerät nach einem der vorhergehenden Ansprüche, wobei das Gehäuse (4) ferner eine gekrümmte vordere Fläche (14) aufweist und das Werkzeug ferner einen An-/Aus-Schalter (16) für den Motor aufweist, der an der gekrümmten vorderen Fläche angeordnet ist.
  10. Angetriebenes Schleifgerät nach einem der vorhergehenden Ansprüche, wobei der wenigstens eine erste und/oder zweite konkave Abschnitt (26, 28) einen Krümmungsradius zwischen 5 mm und 40 mm hat.
  11. Angetriebenes Schleifgerät nach Anspruch 10, wobei der wenigstens eine erste und/oder zweite konkave Abschnitt (26, 28) einen Krümmungsradius von 5 mm bis 15 mm hat.
  12. Angetriebenes Schleifgerät nach Anspruch 11, wobei der wenigstens eine erste und/oder zweite konkave Abschnitt (26, 28) einen Krümmungsradius von 8 mm bis 12 mm hat.
  13. Angetriebenes Schleifgerät nach einem der vorhergehenden Ansprüche, wobei der dritte konkave Abschnitt (24) einen Krümmungsradius von 5 mm bis 40 mm hat.
  14. Angetriebenes Schleifgerät nach Anspruch 13, wobei der dritte konkave Abschnitt (24) einen Krümmungsradius von 15 mm bis 30 mm hat.
  15. Angetriebenes Schleifgerät nach Anspruch 14, wobei der dritte konkave Abschnitt (24) einen Krümmungsradius von 20 mm bis 25 mm hat.
  16. Angetriebenes Werkzeug (2) umfassend:
    ein Gehäuse (4) mit einer vorderen Fläche (14) und einer oberen Fläche (20) und einer Einbuchtung (24), die in der oberen Fläche hinter der vorderen Fläche ausgebildet ist,
    eine Platte (6), die beweglich an dem Gehäuse angebracht ist, und
    einen Motor (18), der in dem Gehäuse zum Erzeugen einer oszillierenden Bewegung der Platte relativ zu dem Gehäuse angeordnet ist,
    wobei ein Großteil des Gehäuses, sofern in einer Längsrichtung des Werkzeugs und einer Richtung quer zu der Längsrichtung gemessen, bei der Benutzung über der Platte angeordnet ist, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die obere Fläche (20) von einer oberen Kante der vorderen Fläche in einer Richtung nach hinten nach unten gekrümmt ist, um einen vertieften Oberflächenbereich zu bilden, und dann von dem vertieften Oberflächenbereich nach hinten nach oben gekrümmt ist, um die Einbuchtung zu bilden.
  17. Angetriebenes Werkzeug (2) nach Anspruch 16, wobei die vordere Fläche (14) gekrümmt ist.
  18. Angetriebenes Werkzeug nach einem der Ansprüche 16 oder 17, wobei im Wesentlichen alles von dem Abschnitt des Gehäuses, der, sofern in der Längsrichtung gemessen, bei der Benutzung über der Platte (6) angeordnet ist, auch bei der Benutzung über der Platte (6) angeordnet ist, sofern in einer Richtung quer dazu gemessen wird.
  19. Angetriebenes Werkzeug (2) nach einem der Ansprüche 16 bis 18, mit einem ersten und einem zweiten konkaven Abschnitt (26, 28) an beiden Seiten der Einbuchtung, wobei wenigstens einer von dem ersten und/oder zweiten konkaven Abschnitt einen Krümmungsradius von 5 mm bis 40 mm hat.
  20. Angetriebenes Werkzeug nach Anspruch 19, mit einem ersten und einem zweiten konkaven Abschnitt (26, 28) an beiden Seiten der Einbuchtung, wobei der wenigstens eine erste und/oder zweite konkave Abschnitt einen Krümmungsradius von 5 mm bis 15 mm hat.
  21. Angetriebenes Werkzeug nach Anspruch 19, mit einem ersten und einem zweiten konkaven Abschnitt (26, 28) an beiden Seiten der Einbuchtung, wobei der wenigstens eine erste und/oder zweite konkave Abschnitt einen Krümmungsradius von 8 mm bis 12 mm hat.
  22. Angetriebenes Werkzeug nach einem der Ansprüche 16 bis 21, wobei die Einbuchtung einen Krümmungsradius von 5 mm bis 40 mm hat.
  23. Angetriebenes Werkzeug nach Anspruch 22, wobei die Einbuchtung einen Krümmungsradius von 15 mm bis 30 mm hat.
  24. Angetriebenes Werkzeug nach Anspruch 23, wobei die Einbuchtung einen Krümmungsradius von 20 mm bis 25 mm hat.
  25. Angetriebenes Werkzeug nach einem der Ansprüche 16 bis 24, wobei das Werkzeug (2) ein angetriebenes Schleifgerät ist.
