Definitions

  • the invention relates to a plastic lid for a container, in particular for the transport and storage of food.
  • a plastic lid is manufactured in two-component injection molding technology and comprises a circumferential edge region of soft elastic material for placement on the edge of the container, and at least one inner region of contrast harder material that fills the lid surface within the edge region.
  • Containers with separate plastic lid are widely used as storage containers, refrigerator jars, food containers, freezer containers and microwave dishes, especially if the container or the bowl is made of plastic.
  • an airtight or at least drip-tight closing lid is required, so that this is usually made of a flexible plastic, in particular low-density polyethylene.
  • Such a welel elastic lid is placed over the edge of the container, wherein a circumferentially encircling groove in the edge of the lid sealingly sealingly receives the edge of the container.
  • a plastic lid made of soft elastic material is not very stable; He also tends to warp in the dishwasher.
  • EP-A-1 466 836 discloses a plastic lid having a two-part inner portion made of polypropylene and at the edge of a circumferential seal made of an elastomer, with which it can be inserted into the edge of a container.
  • the peripheral seal may be injection molded at a central injection point, with radially leading outward flow channels leading from the central injection point to the seal.
  • a plastic lid is produced, which is made in two-component injection molding technology and consists essentially of hard and durable material, while circumferentially only a sealing layer of flexible plastic molded in a circumferential groove to achieve the desired sealing effect.
  • the two-component injection molding technique for the production of these known plastic lid is expensive. Since as the most elastic material usually a flexible TPE (thermoplastic elastomer) is used, which flows relatively difficult in the injection molding process, it is particularly unfavorable that this material is injected at the edge of the lid and around the circumference must flow around the lid in order to finally fill the injection mold completely.
  • the corresponding injection molding tools must therefore be equipped with several injection nozzles, or it must be ensured with relatively great effort that the long flow paths are traversed thermally balanced within the mold; because unequal, non-balanced flow paths can lead to tensions and possibly to distortion in the product, which adversely affects the quality of the lid and the tightness of the lid.
  • the present invention is therefore based on the object to improve a plastic lid of the type mentioned in terms of its quality or in terms of its low producibility.
  • a plastic cover of the type mentioned has been improved in that in addition to the inner region of harder material and the edge region of soft elastic material, a connection region is present, which is injection-molded together with the edge region and consists of the same soft elastic material. According to the invention, this connecting region connects two opposite sides and / or corners of the edge region to one another, whereby the inner region is spanned or subdivided into two or more regions.
  • connection region may be in the form of a straight, curved or diagonal transverse web; but it can also be designed in the form of a cross or star.
  • connection region can be designed to be relatively large in area and / or profiled, so that the edge region, together with the connection region, assumes a substantial part of the inherent stability of the plastic cover.
  • the relatively hard inner region can thereby be made thinner than hitherto possible in the prior art, whereby a greater suppleness and flexibility of the entire plastic lid is ensured.
  • the removal and snapping the plastic lid from one and to a container is thereby more comfortable and improves the sealing effect of the lid.
  • the invention also offers particular advantages under a further aspect:
  • a plastic lid In order to achieve the best possible sealing effect of a plastic lid, can
  • the prior art does not use a highly transparent plastic material, even if it is polypropylene, for example. Because this does not have the required suppleness for handling, and it also does not lead to satisfactory results in terms of the tightness of the lid.
  • connection region is formed over such a large area and / or profiled that it takes over the essential part of the inherent stability of the lid together with the edge region, so that designed as a transparent or crystal clear viewing window inner region is thin like a film can be trained.
  • the plastic lid according to the invention with the known core retraction technique in two-component injection molding.
  • the encircling edge region made of flexible material is then injection-molded in an injection molding tool via a central injection point in the connection region.
  • the connecting area which is produced together with the edge area, distributes the plastic melt relatively uniformly from a more or less central point in the outer edge zones of the lid, wherein after virtually equal flow paths stresses in the subsequently solidified melt can be avoided.
  • the core of the injection molding tool is retracted by the desired thickness of the inner region and then this inner region, in particular a highly transparent window, is injection molded with the second component.
  • the two-component injection molding technique it is known to first inject the first component and, during the solidification process of the first component, the second component into the mold, with the second abutting and joining the first component.
  • the second component is usually injected at high pressure (up to 4000 N / cm 2 ) and the first component is generally not fully hardened, it can cause distortions in the first component. These distortions have the effect of causing bumps in the first component, such as ripples.
  • deformations of the interface between the first and second components may occur, which may affect the connection between the two components.
  • At least one groove is formed in the inner lid region and / or in the peripheral edge region. This groove extends substantially parallel to the interface between the two components of the lid according to the invention and serves to receive a retaining edge of the tool used in injection molding.
  • the second component If the second component is then injected into the casting tool, it abuts the component injected first along the interface and causes a force to act on it.
  • the first injected component groove which comprises a formed in the tool retaining edge, this force can be transmitted to the retaining edge and thus to the tool.
  • the plastic lid is designed such that the boundary surface between the first and second components in projection parallel to the lid plane in predominant surface portions falls on the surface of the interface facing the groove. This ensures that the predominant part of the force acting parallel to the cover plane force can be transmitted to the retaining edge of the mold and thus does not lead to a material shift.
  • the plastic lid is designed such that the interface between the two components of the lid according to the invention in projection parallel to the lid plane entirely on the boundary surface facing side of the groove falls, so that in a first approximation all forces acting parallel to the lid plane forces on the Retaining edge of the mold are transferred and thus almost all forces are eliminated within the first injected component, which could lead to a material shift.
  • the edge of the surface of the groove formed in the plastic cover according to the invention is essentially decisive. Therefore, in a further preferred embodiment, the groove may be asymmetrical, such that its side facing the interface is larger, that is, has a greater height than the side facing away from the interface.
  • the asymmetrical embodiment of the groove gives greater freedom in the design of the lid in the area of the interface.
  • both components in the area of the interface have a cuboid cross-sectional shape (in a section perpendicular to the cover plane and parallel to the interface), so that the interface is also rectangular.
  • the two components abut each other in such a way that the boundary surface is larger than the cross-sectional area perpendicular to the cover plane in the region of the interface.
  • step-shaped formation of the interface it is further advantageous if at least one step of the interface has a beveled or rounded edge, so that the flow of the second-injected component along the step-shaped interface is facilitated.
  • the edge region of the plastic lid When removing a plastic lid from a container, the edge region of the plastic lid is usually pulled upwards relative to the middle lid region. This leads to a bending of at least the cover area, where the forces begin to open the lid. The bending of the lid may result in tensile or shear forces at the interface between the two components of the lid. By frequent use, in which the lid is necessarily placed on the container and in turn removed, thus a considerable burden on the connection between the two components can arise.
  • the plastic lid in the vicinity of the apex of the groove has a predetermined bending point.
  • This predetermined bending point can be generated, for example, by the fact that the material thickness in the region of the apex of the groove is small in comparison to the average material thickness of the lid. This reduces the bending of the lid during placement and removal of the container, since the groove acts like a hinge due to the small thickness of the material at the apex of the groove and thus pivotal movement of the outer lid portion to the groove relative to the inner lid portion instead of bending. This reduces the tensile and shear forces at the interface between the first and second components and thus increases the durability of the connection between the two components.
  • the groove is formed on the inside of the lid.
  • the plastic lid may preferably have a kink or a bend in the peripheral edge region and / or in the inner lid region near the interface, wherein the kink or the bend runs substantially parallel to the interface.
  • polypropylene is used in different composition for both components in the plastic lid according to the invention.
  • polypropylene is used in different composition for both components in the plastic lid according to the invention.
  • polypropylene in combination with a thermoplastic elastomer is possible.
  • plastic cover 1 consists of a peripheral edge region 2 of soft elastic material, namely an elastic TPR (thermoplastic rubber), two inner areas 3, 3 'made of transparent polypropylene, which is hatched only for the purpose of a clearer representation, and a connecting portion 4, the the two longitudinal sides of the edge region 2 connects, is injection-molded together with this and consequently consists of the same soft-elastic material.
  • an injection point 5 can be seen in the middle of the connection region 4, an injection point 5 can be seen.
  • connection area 4 divides two inner areas 3 and 3 '.
  • the connection of the underside of the connection region 4 with the inner region 3 by injection molding of the same increases the stability not only of the entire lid, but in particular the inner region 3, so that it can be made relatively thin, flexible and crystal clear.
  • a true separation of the inner regions 3 and 3 ' may be present through the connection region 4.
  • a plurality of inner regions 3, 3 ' may also be present, and the shape of the connection region 4 may be selected differently.
  • a straight crosspiece which can quite diagonally from corner to corner, and a cross or a star can be provided.
  • a profiling 6 on the sides of the connecting region 4 additionally increases its stability, so that in the present exemplary embodiment the soft elastic material of the edge region 2 and of the connecting region 4 essentially ensure the inherent stability of the cover 1. The thinner and more flexible the inner region 3, 3 'can be formed.
  • edge region 2 is profiled and shaped, as the edge region of a tried and tested, full-surface lid made of soft elastic material. Accordingly, its properties in terms of handling and sealing effect have remained unchanged.
  • An outer roof-shaped projection 7 forms a groove 8 accessible from below, in which an edge 9 of a container 10 is sealingly received.
  • FIG. 2 represents a plan view of the plastic lid 1 FIG. 1 so that reference may be made to the above description.
  • the injection point 5 in the middle of the connection region 4 and the profilings 6 can be seen particularly clearly here.
  • a second injection point 11 for the second cover component, ie the harder material of the inner region 3, 3', can be seen.
  • FIG. 3 is next to one of FIG. 1 corresponding perspective view of the plastic lid 1 a corresponding container 10 also shown in perspective.
  • the plastic lid 1 is placed on the edge 9 of the container 10, so that is made of FIG. 4 to be seen image.
  • the container 10 has circumferentially on a projection 12 which is pulled down and tilted at the two end faces to create a finger space for releasing the plastic lid 1 from the container edge 9.
  • This web 12 serves to stiffen the container 10 and at the same time protects the projection 7 of the plastic lid 1 against unintentional release from the edge 9 of the container 10th
  • the bottom 13 of the container 10 is corrugated, so that when cooling the contents of the container, if necessary, condensation or similar liquids run into the depressions of the corrugations and the contents of the container are not in the wet state.
  • FIG. 5 is finally a sectional view in a plane A - A off FIG. 4 ,
  • the connecting region 4 does not actually divide the inner region 3, 3 ', but spans it.
  • a material connection between the soft elastic material of the connecting portion 4 and the harder, clear transparent material of the inner region 3, 3 ' is present, which not only the stability of the plastic cover 1 overall, but also the stability of the inner region 3, 3 'in particular increases.
  • FIG. 6 shows a first embodiment of an interface 15 between the edge region 2 made of soft elastic material and the inner region 3 of polypropylene in a schematic sectional view, wherein the section along the line "L" in FIG. 1 is laid.
  • both regions 2, 3 near a boundary surface 15 have a rectangular cross section, so that the boundary surface 15 is also rectangular.
  • a groove 14 is formed in this embodiment in the peripheral edge region 2, since this is typically injected first in the mold. When injecting the second component for producing the inner lid portion 3, this thus abuts along the boundary surface 15 against the peripheral edge region 2, whereby a force parallel to the lid plane, that is in FIG. 6 according to the direction marked "K".
  • the projection of the boundary surface 15 parallel to the cover plane falls in predominant area proportions (in this case about 65% of the total area) onto the side of the groove facing the boundary surface.
  • FIG. 7 a further embodiment is shown, in which the peripheral edge region 2 and the inner lid portion 3 abut each other in a step-shaped interface.
  • one step of the interface has a chamfered edge 16, so that the flow of the second component in the production of the inner lid portion 3 along the step-shaped interface is facilitated, that is, the resistance to the flow movement is reduced.
  • FIG. 7 an asymmetrical embodiment of the groove 14 is shown, wherein the peripheral edge region 2 and the groove 14 are designed such that the boundary surface in projection parallel to the cover plane falls entirely on the surface of the interface facing the groove.
  • FIG. 8 Finally, an embodiment for the connection of the edge region 2 and the inner region 3 is shown, in which in addition to the groove 14 in the peripheral edge region 2 a kink 17 is formed near the interface, in addition to a transmission of forces acting parallel to the lid plane forces on the mold allows.
  • FIGS. 6 to 8 Embodiments shown have only one groove in the peripheral edge region, since typically the edge region is first produced and subsequently the second component for producing the central lid region is injected.
